"The team's work can speak for itself so we're gonna jump right into the game. We're gonna take you to a weapon's manufacturing facility deep behind enemy lines in the Soviet Union. This is WMD."

After a brief introduction by Treyarch's Mark Lamia at an event in Los Angeles earlier this month, we were treated to our first look at the annualized, even-year Call of Duty production by Treyarch. Amidst all the legal posturing, accusations, departures, hires, and general unpleasantness, Call of Duty: Black Ops is finishing up its two year development and heading towards a November 9th release date.

While Black Ops isn't the next "Modern Warfare" game, this is a "modern warfare" title. The seemingly brief jump from World War II's 1940's setting to the Cold War's 1960's setting might not sound like much, but it's brought Treyarch's game into the modern era in a big way. The demo starts with a pilot - decked in full pressure flight suit, more astronaut than pilot - climbing aboard a massive SR-71 Blackbird, a "strategic reconnaissance aircraft" built in 1964 and a fabled "black" project.

Activision and Treyarch have released the first full-length trailer for the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops. You may remember the initial teaser from a couple weeks back, but this one -- clocking in at a more satisfying 1 minute 42 seconds -- is, as promised by Treyarch community manager Josh Olin last week, "brand-new, 100% gameplay." Watch it in full after the break.

Call of Duty: Black Ops
is set for a November 9, 2010 release. We'll be on-hand for what we can only imagine will be its very flashy playable debut at next month's E3.

I’m a little weary of posting up details on Call of Duty: Black Ops. We aren’t sure what is going on with the Wii version, other than knowing that it does exist. We don’t know how it will measure up to the 360/PS3 versions of the title in any way, shape or form. [...]

Trigger finger looking fat and out of shape, vegging out on the couch watching Golden Girls reruns? Well, it better shape up this fall, because even-year developer Treyarch's latest entry in the Call of Duty series, Call of Duty: Black Ops, is coming to the Wii on November 9, Eurogamer reports. This will be Treyarch's fourth Call of Duty Wii title, after 2006's Call of Duty 3, 2008's Call of Duty: World at War, and 2009's Modern Warfare - Reflex, a Wii-ificiation of Infinity Ward's 2007 classic.

The confirmation comes from an Activision rep who stated "Black Ops will be available on all four platforms, PS3, X360, PC and Wii, on 9th November" - pretty straightforward, eh? There wasn't any other news on the Wii version, so we contacted Activision directly which confirmed the Wii release but, sadly, couldn't offer much else in the way of details.

Outside of a UK game retailer listing a handful of details about this November's Treyarch-developed Call of Duty: Black Ops, all we've been given so far in terms of solid information on the game is a trailer with a slurry of quick cuts and some muffled dialog. Thankfully, GT Pop-Block has taken apart said trailer piece by piece, highlighting several standout points. What we found most interesting was that, rather than an astronaut seen briefly near the end, it's actually an SR-71 pilot in a full pressure suit, just before heading into sub-orbit (Pop-Block believes this could be a recon mission).

Additionally, as you might have already suspected, various elements in the trailer heavily suggest Vietnam and Cold War themes -- an intercontinental ballistic missile launch, possible Vietcong troops, scientists vacating an exploding Russian complex, and the presence of a UH-1A Huey helicopter (first used in 1962 during the Vietnam War). Oh, and hey, that dude you see above? Yeah, he's probably pretty important to the story. He also totally gets to fly a helicopter, which seems to be player-controlled. See for yourself after the break.

Not that you'd want to remember the atrocities of war, but when you're left to the whims of a scientist in a suspicious lab ... what choice do you have? The new teaser trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops -- coming on November 9th from developer Treyarch -- delivers a fragmented sequence of action scenes, taken from several wildly different environments. If Vietnam is in there (and we're definitely getting a morning whiff of napalm), it's one of several theaters of war.

Judging by the situation in the operating theater, the game may be structured around a series of flashbacks. We're sure the doctor will help us remember more clearly. "I've given you something extra to assist," after the break.
