Trine 2 developer Frozenbyte kicked off a "Huge Seal" promotion, joining up with more than two dozen other indie developers to offer discounts on 35 PC and Mac games. To take advantage of the "build your own indie sale," buyers need to log in to the sale's site with their Steam accounts to access five coupons from the list of participating games, seen after the break. Among the indie games on sale are Mark of the Ninja ($7.50), Monaco: What's Yours is Mine ($6.60), FTL: Faster than Light ($5.00), Terraria ($5.00) and Thomas Was Alone ($2.50).

For every purchase, buyers can pick another game from the list to buy at a discounted rate. Buying three games grants players one free Steam key from the discounted games at random. The sale is good until Sunday, November 24.

Hi everyone. I’m very happy to announce that Trine 2: Complete Story is a PS4 launch game. That was our goal, and it’s been a hectic few months, but we’ve made it. Trine 2: Complete Story is now officially lined up to arrive on PS4 tomorrow.

In the trailer above, you’ll see some of the new skills that are available in the Complete Story version, such as the Knight’s Kitesail Shield, and the Thief’s Low Gravity Arrow. There are a total of 20 levels full of adventure, with sceneries ranging from lush forests to a scorching hot desert, and the insides of a gigantic sandworm — even isles floating in the sky.

Trine 2: Complete Story supports DualShock 4′s touch pad, and it makes many elements of the gameplay very intuitive. An example of this is drawing boxes or planks with the wizard, and moving them around and interacting with the environment.

10846479723_16a6a54f18_n.jpg10846298654_09726f8df4_n.jpg

On the tech side, Trine 2 runs at beautiful full HD 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second. It’s truly a sight to see, and what’s more is that we’re also one of the few games at launch with stereoscopic 3D support. So remember to fire up your 3D TV’s, put on your glasses, and enjoy the visual splendor.

Trine 2: Complete Story launches on this Friday, November 15th in North America for $19.99. Thanks to everyone supporting us, and I hope you enjoy our game! If you want to stay up-to-date with news regarding Trine 2 and our other games, follow us on Twitter — and don’t forget to stay tuned here. We can’t wait!

Hi everyone! This is Kai from Finnish game developer Frozenbyte. We’re the studio behind the Shadowgrounds and Trine franchises. Last week rumours started circling that we would be working on a port of Trine 2 for the PlayStation 4. Well, we’re happy to tell you that the rumours are indeed true! Trine 2: Complete Story is headed for the PlayStation 4!

Trine 2: Complete Story is a sidescrolling game filled with action, puzzles, and platforming. You play as the Thief, the Wizard and the Knight, known as the Three Heroes, who make their way through dangers untold in a fantastical fairytale world.

We’re self publishing Trine 2: Complete Story on PS4, and it’s the very latest version of the game, including a total of 20 exciting levels full of adventure (that’s the main campaign, plus the expansion Goblin Menace and the secret level Dwarven Caverns).

PlayStation 4 has allowed us to go all-out on the technical side, so you’ll get to enjoy the beautiful graphics in 1080p resolution at 60 FPS! What’s more, the game also supports stereoscopic 3D! With 3D displays becoming more common every day, we’ve made sure Trine 2: Complete Story is a treat to play in 3D as well.

We’ll have more information soon, but in the meantime, let us know your feedback in the comments below.

The Humble Indie Bundle 9 just added a quintet of new games. Limbo, Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken, Bastion and A Virus Named Tom are now available to would-be purchasers and those who've already coughed up dough for the collection alike.

This latest Humble Bundle launched just last week and is headlined by FTL, Fez and Mark of the Ninja, in addition to Brutal Legend, Trine 2: Complete Story and a special beta version of Eets: Munchies. This latest grouping of games has little over six days left on its run, at which point it'll be retired for the next insanely tempting Humble Indie Bundle collection.

Just a shame that the game’s greatest asset also contributes to its biggest downfall – that it’s just simply too easy to fumble your way through the “puzzles”. A puzzle platformer that is easily accessible and approachable for people of all ages and experiences that comes highly recommended.

Trine 2: Director’s Cut is indeed the best, and most feature-packed version of the game. Your $19.99 purchase will provide you with 20 levels to explore, hundreds of puzzles to solve, several secrets to find, and one of the best looking games on Wii U.

Trine 2 is best when digested and enjoyed slowly, but even if you choose to blast through the game, you will surely have fun with its multiplayer, visuals, and puzzle design. This early eShop title is certainly worth any adventurous player’s purchase.

It’s not likely that this release will win new fans to the genre, but anyone who already enjoys physics-based puzzle platformers will definitely want to check this one out. Or maybe everyone should just buy this game simply to look at the environments. Have we mentioned how good it all looks?

I remember a review of Yimou Zhang’s Hero which claimed that almost any frame from the film would be worthy of hanging in a gallery. Hyperbolic perhaps but it was a motion picture not afraid to include all of the the colours, frequently in astonishing arrangements. Similarly rich in palette, Trine 2 brings a beauty all its own to the fields and frozen wastes that are so well-trodden by hordes of wizards and warriors. It’s truly fantastic fantasy art and I’d happily watch a slideshow of both its spectacles and subtleties for hours. All that beauty can be yours for £2.99 this weekend on Steam, which is less than you’d spend on a postcard of a hill. The Goblin Menace DLC is also available now and at £5.09 actually costs more than the game at the moment.

Trine 2's upcoming expansion, "Goblin Menace," will be available to PC and Mac users who purchased the game through Steam on Thursday, September 6 for $7.99/€6.99. Steam customers who purchased the Collector's Edition, however, should already have access to beta versions of the expansion's first two levels, though the beta will end once the final product is available.

App Store and Linux versions on Trine 2 will receive Goblin Menace at a later date, while the game's Wii U port will ship with the new content included. The DLC is accompanied by a two-gig update to the game itself, which ensures that both expanded and non-expanded copies of the game behave properly in multiplayer.

Smaller gameplay updates are also being implemented, such as arrows that show a player's location while in multiplayer, in addition to other miscellaneous adjustments and fixes. Frozenbyte encourages all Collector's Edition kids to contribute their feedback to the game's Steam forum.

Truth be told, I’m not entirely sure how goblins – lumpy, stumpy little monstrosities – can exist in Trine 2‘s world. I mean, I have to imagine it’s like a snowman going for a stroll on the sun; we’re talking about two entirely opposing forces, and one has to give. So naturally, you’d assume ugly ol’ goblins would immediately explode into flame volcanoes when exposed to Trine’s blindness-curing beauty. And yet, they’re still alive and kicking – and menacing, no less. So, of course, it’s up to us to fix that little problem while accidentally walking off tall ledges because we’re distracted by all the pretty thi–

Survival Diary, Day Four:

I don't know how much longer I can keep hiding here. It was safe at first; quiet even, like a snow-packed forest or the very depths of the sea, but his footsteps continue to grow closer. Eventually, he's going to find me, and when he does the very core of me will be torn inside out and used to purchase games like Saints Row: The Third, The Walking Dead or any number of the other games on sale today.

I know now that my sanctuary beneath the sofa is no longer a sufficient haven in which to ensconce myself, so I must attempt to find new refuge. There's a very good chance this is my last entry, so please, if you find this, tell the pocket watch I love her.

Always,
Wallet

Atlus sends word that Frozenbyte's vibrant puzzle-platformer, Trine 2, is being sold at half price on Xbox Live Arcade for Gold Members this weekend. That means you can pick it up for 600 Microsoft Points ($7.50) through July 2nd.

Before you do that, though, remember that the time has almost come for another Steam Summer Sale, and your wallet's almost certain to take a beating. Trine 2 is a great game, and if you want to play it on Xbox this is a solid deal. We're just looking out for you, man.

Give it a name already, Frozenbyte, so I don’t have to refer to it as ‘expansion’ or ‘DLC’. I’m going for the former because it reminds me of the good old days, as do Frozenbyte themselves. Why am I posting about this gain so soon, having already written about the new areas, new plotline and new abilities? Because there’s a short video showing some environments and short videos showing Trine environments are among my favourite things in the world. Prettier than all the other game-pretties would be if they were baked up together in a pretty little pie, Trine 2 has the kind of world I’d gladly adventure in and then stick around to have a picnic.

Even before Trine 2 launched, Frozenbyte had plans to work on DLC, saying toward the end of last year that the additional content would be about four hours in length. A few details were revealed to some non-PC folk at GDC, including word of a new story that will take place over six stages, which will have puzzles based around light, water, low gravity and magnets. There will also be new skills. Expect the DLC in summer but don’t expect Trine 3 anytime soon, as Frozenbyte’s next title will be something altogether new. I haven’t played Trine 2 yet, despite the sense of contentment and joy that still washes over me whenever I see it in motion.

A fresh batch of Trine 2 DLC is dropping this summer, and it will include six new stages, a shiny new story and new skills. XBLA Fans picked up the news from Frozenbyte marketing director Mikael Haveri during a GDC 2012 panel this week. Haveri also said there would be a lot of puzzles based on light, water, low gravity and magnetic elements.

Frozenbyte's next project is an original IP set to launch at $15 for unannounced platforms, Haveri teased to XBLA Fans. At that price, we feel confident expecting a downloadable release.

You can finally download Frozenbyte's well-received sequel, Trine 2, from the European PlayStation Store. Since SCEE took longer than expected to get the game through QA, it will initially be offered at a 30 percent discount for €7.99. After two weeks, Trine 2's price will be set at €11.25.

European PS Plus members can download Trine 2 for free right now. Here on the other side of the Atlantic we're getting some free Sly Cooper.
