Resident Evil Revelations is a game that manages to properly bridge the gap between the new style of action oriented Resident Evil and the old style of a tense and more atmospheric oriented Resident Evil.
This is part of a Resident Evil Revelations review from Wii's World...
All in all, Resident Evil Revelations is solid action survival horror game that can be enjoyed alone or with a friend online. If you have enjoyed any of the recent games in the franchise you'll be in your element and newcomers are certainly welcome aboard this time around. The Wii U version offers a few different ways to play the game and makes for a great addition to the new console's library.
Filling a swimming pool with fake blood and body parts to promote a video game never seemed to me like a particularly tasteful idea in the first place. It's even less so after a grisly machete killing, described as an act of terrorism, roiled anger throughout London this week.
Capcom planned the stunt to promote the May 24 U.K. release of Resident Evil: Revelations on consoles and PC. It filled 55,000 gallon pool with fake blood and dumped in a bunch of fake eyeballs, body parts, intestines and brains, challenging people to dive in and swim to the bottom for free stuff.
That was before the murder on Wednesday of Lee Rigby, in the London neighborhood of Woolwich, an attack described in news reports as a beheading. Rigby's killers are said to have made jihadist statements on a video taken at the scene of the murder, which has incited anger against Muslims in that country. Right-wing groups have gone on the march in London and elsewhere since the slaying.
Capcom announced shortly thereafter that the Resident Evil promotion, which was to have been held Saturday and Sunday, was off. Probably a good idea. Last year Capcom ran a "human meat market" in East London to promote Resident Evil 6.

Overall, Resident Evil: Revelations comes highly recommended for fans of the series wanting a more traditional take on the franchise. The 360 and PS3 versions are worth equal consideration, while the PC game, despite a few hiccups, provides the most fluid and responsive experience available due to running at much higher frame-rates and without needing powerful hardware to do so. Revelations is still well worth buying on the Wii U if you don't own the other current-gen consoles - it's still the same excellent game. But the more erratic performance means and less precise controls mean that it isn't quite as fun to play.
The summer lulls are often short on consent and if you're a Wii U owner and horror/shooter fan then "Resident Evil: Revelations" might be worth your time.
It's frustrating that "good" has become an unexpected reaction for me to the Resident Evil franchise, but if Revelations is any indication, there's still an opportunity to turn that around.
Happy Revelations day! We're celebrating by offering a new present code, this time for a rare drop... Enter the code "parker" over on residentevil.net and grab this hard-to-find Raid Mode item! This rare code is only good until TOMORROW 5/22 10am PST!
If we are to have a new home console Resident Evil experience in the near future, however, this remake should be taken as the starting point, as it shows that bombast and eye-watering budgets aren't the secrets to capturing the essence of the series.
Capcom has put together a successful port here, in that if you wanted to play the 3DS game but didn't get a chance to do so, this is the best way to get that done. Resident Evil fans will want to see the story, and will forgive the design flaws and wacky dialogue.
The new content, including an entertaining challenge-based two-player co-op mode, along with dual-analog stick control make this the definitive version of Resident Evil: Revelations.
