You’d figure that the guy running a fighting game tournament would be able to take out a grade-schooler with ease, right? Not exactly. In the first few matches of this Tekken Tag Tournament 2 face-off, CEO Gaming bossman Alex Jebailey gets worked over good seven-year-old opponent King Rey, Jr. It’s kind of painful to watch. King Rey, Jr. looks to be a prodigy along the lines of Lil Poison, the competitve Halo player who was notable for being so good so young. Jebailey makes a comeback about a third of the way in, which takes the edge off the embarrassment a little bit. Now, as his trainer/dad says on the shoutcast commentary, Junior’s strategy needs work. But, he still poses a stiff challenge for Jebailey and the battle turns into a real down-to-the-wire nail-biter at the very end. And you’ve gotta say one thing for this kid when compared to the seasoned pros of the FGC: that’s a totally cute celebration at the end.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 makes its way to a new home a few months after appearing on the PS3 and 360, and by and large Namco has done a decent job porting the game over to Nintendo's new console while adding a slew of extra content to entertain dedicated fans and new players alike.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2: Wii U Edition proves that when something isn't broke then there's no need to fix it -- just add a ton of worthwhile and engaging content on top. Persistent loading times may mar the experience for some, but for fighting game fans with a shiny new console to equip, this will be gaming nirvana.

This is the perfect example of what we expect from multi-format Wii U games, with everything seen in other versions and more Nintendo-only stuff on top.

It's essentially the exact same package with a few extras, and a few tiny conveniences that put it slightly over the original. While I wouldn't double-dip if you're already a Tekken adopter, the Wii U Edition is a great place to start.

YOU'LL LOVE
Looks as crisp as ever on the Wii U
Same huge roster, same great fighting
Effectively the same game with Wii U extras

YOU'LL HATE
Playing versus without the GamePad
Seeing the same Nintendo costumes recycled over and over
New modes only offer fleeting fun

#tekken Doctor Boskonovitch is a downloadable Tekken Tag Tournament 2 character who is full of piss and vinegar. As this video from YouTuber Kaworuscott seems to show, the ability to spam this move appears overpowering. What, does Doctor Boskonovitch have a PhD in infinite ass slides? More »

Back in September some dataminers found six hidden characters on Xbox 360 discs of Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and Namco Bandai promised they would be released from their coded prisons, for free, in due time. Tonight, the final three of these characters are liberated - Dr. Boskonovitch, Unknown and Violet - along with former pre-order characters Ancient Ogre, Angel, Michelle Chang and Kunimitsu. All seven characters are free.

Dr. B was last playable in Tekken 3, Unknown was in Tekken Tag Tournament, and Violet was last in Tekken 4. On October 9, Namco launched the first round of free bonus characters, including Miharu, Sebastian, and "Slim" Bob.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will be available as a downloadable game on PSN starting Tuesday, November 13, for $50.

I wanted to give the PlayStation Nation the inside scoop on some cool things we have coming up for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 this week. Starting on Tuesday, November 13th, we will be offering Tekken Tag Tournament 2 as a download on PlayStation Store for $49.99. For those of you doing the math right now, that’s $10 cheaper than a Blu-ray copy of the game. And for those of you who have not purchased the game yet and are looking for another excuse to download or grab a copy, we will be releasing the final timed character roster update this week as well! BOOM! HYPE! WISDOM!

Monday night we’ll unleash the final Tekken fighters from their cages and let them loose on the internet for our dedicated fans. The new unlocked characters for feature three returning favorites: Dr. Boskonovitch, Unknown and Violet. It’s been a while since players have been able to get their hands on these characters and play as them themselves, with Dr. B last playable in Tekken 3, Unknown last playable in the original Tekken Tag Tournament and Violet in Tekken 4. It’s been a long time, but we think it has been worth the wait when you see the changes the team has made to the new characters. These guys are absolute beasts in the ring with new move sets since the last time we’ve seen them.

And in addition to that, we will also be releasing Ancient Ogre, Angel, Michelle Chang and Kunimitsu to everyone as well. These four characters have, up until now, have only been available for players who pre-ordered the game. Now with everyone able to use them, I’m super interested to see what you guys can cook up in the lab with them. To top all that off, these characters are absolutely free and are added to your character select the next time you boot up your copy of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and are connected to the internet.

So be sure to download Tekken Tag Tournament 2 from the PSN Store this Tuesday, grab all those unlocked characters, brush up your skills in the Fight Lab and let’s take this fight online. My PlayStation Network name is Filthie_Rich if you want to go a few rounds. And make sure you sign up for a World Tekken Federation account to join online teams and receive detailed analysis of all your past fights. Also, follow @ Harada_TEKKEN on Twitter for the most recent status of the development team!

Namco Bandai showed almost universal growth in the first half of its fiscal 2013 (ending in September), with operating income for the full company at ¥27.75 billion ($345.88 million), up 176 percent from last year. Specifically for the Content Business, which includes game software, operating income rocketed up 375 percent to ¥20.136 billion.

The best-selling titles of the year included Tekken Tag Tournament 2 at 840,000 units in Japan and Europe (it was not yet out in North America as of the end of the period), Soulcalibur 5 at 680,000 - it's sold 1.38 million overall, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations at 550,000, Taiko Drum Master 3DS at 270,000 in Japan only - it would be more if you released it worldwide, Namco, just saying - and SD Gundam G Generation Over World on PSP at 260,000.
