Just about a month ago, I -- Greg Miller -- reviewed Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception and gave it a 10. Since then, Naughty Dog unleashed the epic on the world, and plenty of people have their own opinion on the title. So, what does the rest of IGN think of Uncharted 3? Well.....

If you went in on the $24.99 "Fortune Hunters" club membership for the multiplayer component of Uncharted 3, then your list of (already beefed up) character skins will be increased with today's PSN update. That's when the Helghast DLC arrives on the PlayStation Store, adding the Capture Trooper skin, ISA helmet and iconic Helghast helmet to your collection for free. If you're super into PS3 franchise mash-ups but didn't join the Fortune Hunters, you can pick up the pack for $1.49.

This information comes to us from PlayStation Blog, which also has a few teaser images of the maps which will be added to the game in the coming months. That's one of them, posted right above. Doesn't that look serene? Doesn't it look idyllic? Don't you just want to grab a dude and throw him off that waterfall?

Amazon calls this deal "Buy One, Get One 50% Off" but we prefer to think of it as "Get Two $60 Games for Just $45." Normally, these kinds of deals have perhaps one marquee title playing the role of siren, calling your wallet-shaped ship to its rocky, mediocre-game covered shores; however, this deal is different.

Blockbuster titles like Modern Warfare 3, Skyrim, Batman: Arkham City, Uncharted 3, Rage, and more are available choices, with some junk like The Black Eyed Peas Experience and Go Vacation, just to keep us on our toes. With this many options, we're more inclined to think of it as a "Buy Three, Get One Free" deal. This offer is good for a "limited time," which we think means "not long."

While only Joshua Foster is walking away with a PS3 Uncharted 3 bundle and the PlayStation 3D Display, we wanted to show you a few of our favorite looks in the gallery below (and there are even more right here).

Just to say it again: Seriously, you're all just the best.

Those of you who follow me on Twitter know I hold an annual holiday called "Nathan Drake Half-Tuck Day" where otherwise average dudes and ladydudes are encouraged to take a picture of themselves copping the world's trendiest semi-style.

This year, we've teamed up with Sony to actually reward you for making a goofball of yourself. Someone who submits a picture of themselves with a half-tuck to our Facebook page is going to win the PlayStation 3D Display and a PS3 Uncharted 3 bundle, an almost $800 value!

The only rules? You can only enter once, it has to be you in the picture, half your shirt has to be tucked in (like this!), and you have to post it to our Facebook page by 12 p.m. EST on Nov. 10. We'll randomly select one person for the big prize and send them a message through Facebook. Good luck!

You know, the problem with life is there aren't enough suspended train cars to climb and big burly dudes to fist-fight in a climactic struggle to survive aboard a giant cargo plane. Nope, life is PTA meetings, laundry and lots and lots of bills. But there's hope!

On PSN right now, you can download all three Uncharted soundtracks -- the first two games' score will set you back $5.99, though we suggest you wait it out until next week when both will be offered in a value bundle for $9.99. The Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception soundtrack is priced at $9.99 on PSN. If physical media is more your speed, you'll have to wait until November 15 to snag the Uncharted 3 soundtrack from Best Buy, Fry's, or Barnes & Noble. If you're an iTunes fan, you can grab it from there right now.

Or if you're low on cash, you can always go the budget route and rock a half-tuck.

Hopefully by now you’ve had an awesome, fun time embarking on Drake’s latest adventure, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, and its sonic landscape is invading your dreams at night as you think about how to help Drake tackle the next challenge in his journey for the fabled “Atlantis of the Sands.”

We worked very closely with hyper-talented composer Greg Edmonson to create a truly remarkable aural experience for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. Created to fit a wide variety of daring situations and subtle moods, Greg’s music is expertly crafted to evoke the high action, interactive cinematic feel that the UNCHARTED franchise is known for. The sounds and tones Greg uses help to fill the atmosphere at the proper moments of action, tension or drama and help drive the pace of the gameplay. Those stirring, and at times delicate or aggressive and hardened, acoustics can now be downloaded directly to your PS3.

The Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception original soundtrack is available now for $9.99 (US) on the PlayStation Store. You can buy and download it today or it will also be available physically in-store from the following retailers on 11.15.2011: Best Buy, Barnes and Noble and Fry’s Electronics. The soundtrack can also be ordered from LaLaLandrecords.com, Amazon.com, Bestbuy.com. It can also be downloaded via iTunes, and is the only video game soundtrack appearing in iTunes Top 10 Soundtrack Albums category. Additionally, an exclusive 2CD Limited Edition version, limited to 3,000 units and containing extensive liner notes by Daniel Schweiger, is available for purchase from LaLa Land Records and can be ordered from their website.

We’re bringing back some of your favorite gaming memories as well. The Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and the Uncharted 2: Among Thieves soundtracks are both currently available for $5.99 (US) from the PS store. Which is great news, as this week’s release of all three soundtracks to the PS Store marks the first time ever that the UNCHARTED soundtracks have been available for purchase on the PSN. And next week, we’ll be releasing a special bundle that includes the Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves soundtracks for a value price of $9.99 (US). The Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune soundtrack is also available on iTunes and Sumthingdigital. If you’re more into physical goods you can purchase the Uncharted 2: Among Thieves soundtrack from Amazon.com, Bestbuy.com, and GameStop.com as well.

Greg Edmonson is a film and television composer best known for composing the soundtrack to the cult space western TV series Firefly, which was written and directed by Joss Whedon. Greg is the winner of the Best Original Music award from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts for his work on the Uncharted 2: Among Thieves soundtrack.

We hope you’ve been enjoying your time with Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception and can indulge in various UNCHARTED musical landscapes. It was our goal to create a truly unforgettable interactive cinematic experience that everyone can enjoy, and it takes awesome music such as the music that Greg has composed to help make that happen. Listen well and enjoy the game and its music today!

Players -- and critics -- don't always have an appropriate vocabulary with which to discuss less defined, mechanical aspects of games. Why does shooting feel right in one game, but wrong in another? We appear to have run into this problem of a lacking lexicon with Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, which some players say has introduced problematic aiming (i.e. something feels wrong), particularly in the single-player adventure.

Posting on the official Naughty Dog blog, community overlord Arne Meyer relayed information from game director Justin Richmond, who's able to speak more clearly on the technical performance of Drake's gun. "Aiming is identical to Uncharted 2 - we took a look at the values side by side. We did adjust the sensitivity to be MUCH higher in Uncharted 3 to give you a more precise feel. With Uncharted 2 it was pretty much guaranteed you would aim in one of the 8 directions and it was hard to deviate from that (imagine it being almost like a traditional 8-way arcade stick)." According to Richmond, "With Uncharted 3, you can deviate from the straight path from each of the 8 directions much easier and more precisely."

So, contrary to some complaints, sensitivity has gone up. However, enemies also change positions faster now, "which changes the flow of gun combat as well, from what you were used to if you're coming off fresh from Uncharted 2." We've had this same problem at Joystiq HQ, and believe that aiming assistance might be a tad too magnetic, slowing your reticle down when it gets near an enemy.

The most interesting part is that the gunplay in Uncharted 3 has been adjusted in another significant way. You might not have known it looking at him, but Drake's shots used to come out at weird angles. "In Uncharted 2 the bullets would leave the barrel at a pre-set deviation when you were aimed in," says Naughty Dog. "What this means is that the bullets would not fire straight out of the barrel all the time -- they could come out at an angle. Therefore, you could have a target clearly in the reticle and still miss it by a wide margin." In the sequel, "bullets now fire straight out of the barrel 100% of the time," though you need to adjust for recoil.

There's a question about which ultimately takes precedence: the informed explanation rooted in data and design, or the more nebulous discomfort of an aim that just feels ... off?

Pull out your copy of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and stare straight at it: DON'T PANIC, folks! Yes, PlayStation Network is undergoing maintenance, but only temporarily, Sony says. According to the company's Twitter account, the PlayStation Network will be under construction from 9AM to 11AM PST today (that's 12PM to 3PM for those of us on the East Coast).

The maintenance may not affect all users' ability to connect, as Sony says that only "some users" may be affected by the downtime. Look at things on the bright side, though -- now you have a couple hours cleared to play that Uncharted 3 single-player campaign you've been neglecting. Drake would be so, so disappointed.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception creative lead and writer Amy Hennig isn't one to mince words, it would seem. On the latest episode of Geoff Keighley's "Bonus Round," Hennig and a cadre of other Naughty Dog leads speak in great detail about the process of building their latest, most ambitious project yet -- in just two years. "We absolutely killed ourselves on this project. I think this was the hardest thing any of us have ever done," Hennig asserts.

Game director Justin Richmond agrees, breaking down why the project was so hard on their team, beyond the aforementioned time constraint issues. "It's a lot of things. We didn't wanna let ourselves down, we didin't wanna let our fans down. We try to do things that no one's ever done before in a game," he says, referring to the game's massive moving environments and setpieces. It's also a measure of the game being the third entry in an established franchise. "I've worked on two 'third games,'" he says, "And they're always harder ... people expect a certain level of sophistication."

Finally, the most pressure came from the team itself. "We made it even harder on ourselves I think than it had to be, because compared to the previous games, we wanted it [Uncharted 3] to be perfect," Richmond concludes. And, at least from our perspective, the game certainly turned out to be not too shabby. You can find out for yourself right now as the game launches worldwide today.

It’s 11.1.11 and we are pleased to announce that UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception officially storms store shelves in North America today!

6236070326_8aa9ca4512.jpg

Nathan Drake’s latest outing will force him to confront some of his deepest fears as he sets off on a globe-trotting journey that leads him into the heart of the Arabian Desert in search of the fabled “Atlantis of the Sands.” You’ve seen the power of fire (Chateau level), air (Cargo Plane level), water (Cruise Ship level), and most recently sand (Desert Village level) in the game. The Dogs strove to outdo themselves in all facets of production, as we aimed to innovate upon the core tenants of the UNCHARTED franchise.

Keeping the narrative compelling and the characters authentic and relatable while delivering a top-notch cinematic experience was paramount to our past success and the foundation of where we wanted to go when we undertook the blockbuster task of building UNCHARTED 3. Pushing the capability of the PlayStation hardware and using a myriad of technical innovations, we took our in-game physics, particle effects, and visuals to a whole new level. Aside from these elements, we strove to make Drake feel even more connected to his surroundings as players move through different situations in different environments. To that end we integrated high-resolution stereoscopic 3D into the architecture of the game. You owe it to yourself to experience the full stereoscopic 3D gaming UNCHARTED 3 has to offer. We feel you and your eyes will be delighted.

Additionally, the competitive and co-op multiplayer is more robust than ever with many gameplay refinements and the inclusion of those cliffhanger active cinematic experiences that can only be found in the UNCHARTED universe. Hopefully you had a chance to play some of the full multiplayer during the Subway Taste for Adventure promotion and you’re now ready, locked and loaded for the November 1st rollout of the full retail release. We’ll be updating and refining our multiplayer experience together as we all hit the maps for some fortune hunting.

6254980823_4904a4b949.jpg

Along with the retail release of the game we’re announcing day-one DLC will be available as well. Three classic skin packs featuring a grand total of 25 character skins from UNCHARTED: Drake’s Fortune and UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves will hit PSN as downloadable items for your UNCHARTED 3 multiplayer experience. Members of the Fortune Hunters’ Club will be getting these three classic skin packs for free and a second dose of DLC is just around the corner—very close, in fact – so if you haven’t become a member of the club yet now is an ideal time to do so.

We hope you’ll enjoy all the gameplay, graphical, and technical flourishes we packed into UNCHARTED 3 as much as we enjoyed developing them. Our goal was to create a truly unforgettable interactive cinematic experience that everyone can enjoy. We think we achieved this goal and we look forward to hearing about what you think of UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception. So let us know what you think and thank you for playing our game! Have fun!
