Amazon UK recently revealed Nintendo's 3DS has become the online giants most pre-ordered gaming device. That may have something to do with the fact that Amazon has the device discounted nearly £43 ($70 USD) off the suggested price.

"It's unusual for a handheld console to attract this amount of excitement in the run up to launch," Amazon UK's director of video games, Chris Poad, told VG247. "Such high levels of interest are normally reserved for the play-at-home hardware like the ground-breaking Nintendo Wii and last year's Microsoft Kinect."

Subsequently, the Kinect went on to become the "Fastest-Selling Consumer Electronic Device" of all time. The Amazon exec feels the 3DS is launching at a time when interest in 3D is high and that the glasses-free experience is a "real breakthrough."
