The bundle barons at Indie Gala have released a new pay-what-you-want collection of seven Steam-redeemable PC games, with a buyer-chosen portion of proceeds benefiting the Able Gamer charity.

Indie Gala's Interstellar bundle includes the 2D physics puzzler Cubicity, tactical FPS Interstellar Marines, and music-driven platformer Rush Bros for a minimum donation of $1. Pay more than $6 and you'll also receive the first-person pugilism sim Beast Boxing Turbo, action-strategy game Sang-Froid: Tales of Werewolves, point-and-click adventure Finding Teddy, and Q Games' PSN-ported PixelJunk Shooter, along with the bonus-bundled Spearhead Edition of Interstellar Marines.

Indie developer Mossmouth has released a sizable update for the Steam version of its roguelike platformer, Spelunky, fixing numerous bugs and adding new features aimed at hardcore players.

Spelunky's latest update introduces an optional "Pro" HUD that obscures less of the screen than the default interface, aiding players in crowded levels. The update additionally offers an "invert run" option, which makes running the default movement speed. When this option is enabled, players will need to hold the game's run button to walk instead of run.

Version 1.4 of Spelunky also adds a backup save option and fixes repeating seed issues within the Daily Challenge mode. The changelog reports many more fixes for long-standing bugs: A ghost will no longer kill players instantly when they enter Olmec's chamber after destroying several Kali altars, for instance.

In a perhaps not too surprising result, the case in Germany brought against Valve that attempted to demonstrate the right to resell Steam games was lost last week. Brought by German consumer group Verbraucherzentrale Bundesverband (vzbv), this was a second attempt to see a court rule that consumers have the right to resell their Steam games. Like you can with any physical gaming product. And for a second time, the courts ruled against it.

Just because NASA doesn't go to the moon anymore doesn't mean you can't. MoonBase Commander, the 2002 turn-based strategy game from Humongous Entertainment, is now available on Steam. Even better news, it costs significantly less than a real-life NASA-sponsored space ride: $6 gets you your very own moon base to command.

Humongous Entertainment still exists today, but no longer owns the rights to MoonBase Commander; that honor now belongs to Aliens Vs. Predator developer Rebellion. Now you know who to thank for allowing you to launch probes and combat rival factions via turn-based gameplay.

Steam has a broad selection of deals up for grabs over the next few days, with a free Borderlands 2 weekend accompanying launch sales for a handful of recently released games.

Starting today and ending Sunday at 1PM PT, players can experience the full Borderlands 2 campaign for free via Steam. If you want to continue scavenging Pandora afterward, all Borderlands 2 content - including its DLC, Season Pass, and Game of the Year Edition - is 50 percent off through Monday.

While you're on the hunt for deals, you might want to pick up South East Games' QWOP-inspired sports sim Probably Archery for 25 percent off during its debut week. Valve has added a new space to the front page of Steam, in the hopes of offering a better at-a-glance view of recently updated games.

The Recently Updated section not only highlights patched games, but those that have just received DLC or new features entirely. Developers can choose when their update is highlighted in this section, thanks to new developer tools available alongside the Recently Updated portal's roll-out. This is an especially useful feature for constantly-changing Early Access games and mitigates the need to hunt down patch notes on developer sites or in the Steam Community forums. There's even a page to specifically list updates for your Steam library.

Last year, Valve announced plans to better integrate Steam into the living room. This initiative includes custom plug-and-play Steam Machines, built by third-party manufacturers, running on a custom version of Linux called SteamOS. ​The Regional Court of Berlin has dismissed a lawsuit from the German consumer organization VZBV against Valve, for now granting Valve the authority to prevent Steam users from reselling their digital games. Business as usual, that is.

In September 2012, VZBV brought a desist letter against Valve, asking that the company (among other things), allow users to resell their "used" digital games, in accordance with a Court of Justice of the European Union ruling made in July 2012 preventing authors from opposing resale of their digital software. Valve had until October 10, 2012, to respond to the desist letter, or the VZBV would bring about a lawsuit - Valve didn't change its policies, and the lawsuit moved forward.

The VZBV argues digital games fall under the doctrine of exhaustion, which dictates that copyright owners have limited ability to control individual copies of their products once those items have been distributed.

"A second case dealing with the precise copyright status of video games (coming, incidentally, from Germany) is currently still before the European judges, so the case law on this issue must be considered in flux," legal team Osborne Clarke writes. "But at least for the moment, it looks like digitally distributed video games are not subject to exhaustion in Europe."

Love is a minimalist platforming game with a retro aesthetic and a focus on a challenging but not unfair difficulty. It has an innovative respawn system, 12 levels, 12 track soundtrack, competitive scoring, and a simple-to-use level creation feature.

The challenging levels are balanced with the inclusion of a simple yet unique respawn system wherein the player can leave a checkpoint at any location at any point, as long as they are on solid ground. Players have a number of gameplay modes to choose from, whether they want it easy, normal, or they want to try their hand at a mode designed specifically for Speed Running.

Designed to give developers more ways to communicate with gamers about their products on Steam, this public release was matched with a tools release that lets developers elect when to add their update to this product area and what to say about the contents of their latest update.
 
"The more options developers have for communicating about their products, the better it is for everyone," says Tom Bui of Valve. "With this new product section and corresponding developer tools, customers can more easily discover products that provide ongoing value and involvement from the developers."
 
Additionally, a new page in Steam lets customers easily browse through recent updates to titles they have purchased or activated on Steam.
