Disney Universe Jungle Book DLC does not have Don Karnage

Sorry, Disney Universe Jungle Book costume DLC pack, but what are you doing? TaleSpin is still the coolest thing to come out of the Jungle Book setting. Yes, the little costumes in this three-buck pack -- featuring man-cub Mowgli, Shere Khan the tiger, Louie the ape, Bagheera the panther and a baby elephant -- are cute, and kids will probably love them.

But nothing compares to the classic early '90s cartoon series that re-imagined the lovable Baloo as a down-on-his-luck seaplane pilot, Louie as the owner of his favorite watering hole (get it?), and Shere Khan as a sharply-dressed and golden-voiced business cat. Until you've got elements that play on Cheers, old adventure movies, and an alternate postware timeline, you just enjoy your lower place on the list of cool Jungle Book tie-ins.

The graphics are great, if a little dark, and the music is certainly nostalgic, but there's not much we can say about the run-and-punch gameplay that makes up the entire experience. Don't go out of your way for this one.

It's tough not to play Disney Universe without a smile on your face, at least most of the time. The hardcore will scoff at this game, but I'd recommend it to anyone with kids, or an undying love for Disney.

I didn't go into my time with Disney Universe with high expectations. On the periphery, it seemed like a shallow children's game from a developer that has been making licensed games for two decades. So when I found Disney Universe to be a fun experience, I was pleasantly surprised. While its title should suggest to you that it's not intended to be played by "hardcore" gamers, I couldn't help but think about how much fun my young nephews would have with a game like this...

#disneyuniverse While all the grown-ups are playing Battlefield 3, what'll the kids be playing? That's right, Battlefield 3 as well, but keep a copy of Disney Universe nearby in case Child Protective Services stops by. Hey look, it's got Tron in it! More »

There’s a nice little competitive element in the game, and players can sabotage their friends’ efforts by hoarding power-ups and triggering traps. That said, the game is so shallow and repetitive that only the most easily amused will be able to slog their way through to the end credits, with or without companionship.

September 19, 2011 – Yo ho, ho, ho – a pirates life for me! In honour of the international celebration today of “Talk Like a Pirate Day,” Disney is sharing with fans the swashbuckling pirate adventures that will be part of the upcoming video game, Disney Universe. Featuring environments and character costumes inspired by Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies, Disney Universe is the first video game that brings together characters and worlds inspired by both animated and live action films from Disney’s Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures.

Players can suit up as film characters such as Captain Jack Sparrow, Angelica, Mr. Gibbs, Captain Barbossa and Blackbeard as they navigate their way over the Thames River and through the city streets of London. The new world also includes cannons to fend off the pirate ships, water bombs to prevent London from burning and rubber duck vehicles that players can utilise to engage in a final battle in an attempt to gain access to the Fountain of Youth.

The “Pirates of the Caribbean” environment and character costumes set sail as the latest Disney property to join the Disney Universe fun, alongside additional favourites including Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland,” Disney•Pixar’s “Monsters, Inc.” and “WALL•E,” Disney’s “The Lion King,” and more to be revealed. Disney Universe will be available 28th October 2011 for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, the Wii™ system from Nintendo and Windows PC.
