The big week is almost upon us, folks: E3 2011. And if this week is any indication of days to come, we'll have a constant flow of news mainlined directly from Los Angeles to your think meat. With that in mind, there are a handful of focal points throughout the week that will assuredly strike you as high priority, and as such, we thought a roadmap guiding you to those particular moments -- whether you're in Shibuya, or Queens, or anywhere else for that matter -- would be of particular use.

After the break you'll find just that: a guide to the biggest presentations of E3 2011. We'll of course be on the ground in LA, keeping you as up to date as our brains and hands will allow. Wondering where to find it all? For E3 specific coverage, head to Joystiq's E3 Hub for all things E-triple.

Prototype 2 is a game about some dude is made of tentacles or something like that. You can check out the general use of tentacles in the trailer below. Tentacle Boy DOES NOT like helicopters, no sir. Also he’s going to have a fight with the protagonist from the previous game for some reason.

Whatever, I still want a decent Hulk game. (And yes, Radical’s Ultimate Destruction was the last good one, but imagine what destruction tech could do now.)(more…)

#dice We've seen a good chunk of Battlefield 3's single-player campaign—at least 12 minutes' worth of it—but what about multiplayer? Isn't that why people play Battlefield games? Well, good thing E3 2011's right around the corner. More »

#thebabyconspiracy Last weekend I spent nearly $100 on new clothing for E3 2011. Now my flight is cancelled, I'm not going, and the only question I have is how are two unborn babies going to come up with the cash to pay me back? More »

Paramount Digital Entertainment has announced a brand new Star Trek title starring Kirk and Spock as envisioned in J. J. Abrams' 2009 Star Trek film. Titled simply Star Trek, the game is under development at Digital Extremes (BioShock 2, Darkness 2) and takes place after the film, tasking Kirk and Spock with taking down "a legendary enemy race bent on conquering the galaxy." The story is being handled by God of War writer Marianne Krawczyk along with the film's writers Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman.

The development team is "working closely" with Abrams' Bad Robot production company and producer Damon Lindelof, with Paramount promising co-op and "AAA production values, a wide variety of gameplay and all the action you would expect from the hit franchise." Star Trek is slated to materialize on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2012. It will also be on display at E3 next week, and you can bet your space boots we'll be beaming down.

Black Rock Studios' excellent racers, Pure and Split/Second, are sliding to OnLive, the streaming game service announced today. The duo of arcade racing titles will lead the charge for Disney Interactive titles on the service, with LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean up next on the list. And that's not all -- OnLive had a bunch of news to drop just before E3 begins next week.

For starters, the service will be officially launching in the UK at some point this fall. As with the company's North American debut, UK residents are encouraged to sign up for early "Founding Members" access -- the official UK site goes live in the coming days. Additionally, OnLive revealed intentions to make its way to a variety of "Intel-based consumer TVs, Blu-ray players, and set-top boxes" later this year. The first such devices will begin arriving this fall, and will reportedly stretch beyond the company's currently deal with consumer electronics manufacturer Vizio.

Alongside the Intel deal, OnLive plans on launching a "universal wireless controller" that will work with said Intel-based devices. It looks and operates very much like the OnLive MicroConsole controller, and will come with a USB dongle for non-wireless devices. It's said to contain several different radio signals for working with a multitude of devices.

You'll be able to brag to your friends all about how you're playing high-end PC games on your Intel-based TV on a wireless controller right from within games, pushing brag clips to Facebook. Which is to say, yes, OnLive is getting Facebook integration as well, starting June 7. Now, you'll excuse us if we take a moment to catch our breath.

Nintendo will hold its media event at 9AM PST (12PM EST) on Tuesday, June 7. It's just revealing its crazy new console. Totally boring! You need something like, say, a downloadable bingo card (JPG), to liven the proceedings up.

I thought the artwork looked a little bit different when I posted earlier today, but with the art comparison, it’s much easier to see the differences. Looks like Link has had some minor tweaks over the year.

Other than the message imparted by the terrifying baby head we got in the mail, we haven't heard too much (useful) about Gearbox Software's Aliens: Colonial Marines lately. It looks like that's about to change, as Gearbox and Sega today revealed plans to blow out the game at E3 next week, and announced a new "Spring 2012" launch window.

If that weren't enough, a bit of the game's scope is explained in the announcement, which depicts a recon mission into the "ostensibly abandoned" U.S.S. Sulaco of Aliens fame. A fancy new teaser has also arrived, which we've dropped just below the break.
