When it comes to the launch of new Sony hardware, an accompanying Ridge Racer game appears to be as mandatory as each new system's on/off switch, and so it was never going to be a huge shock that a new Ridge Racer game tentatively titled 'Ridge Racer' would surface on the launch list for the PlayStation Vita. Going by the series' notoriously incremental iterations it should come as even less of a surprise that yep, this feels like a Ridge Racer game alright...

Ridge Racer is on its way to the PlayStation Vita, but unfortunately we don't know much more than that. All we saw at Sony's event was a trailer we could manipulate by adding blur effects and other visual goodies by sliding out fingers around on the touchscreen. Although there was a car in the trailer, there was no racing to speak of. Some of the effects were cool, but it's hard to tell at this point how they'll work their way into the final game...
