Ex-Ubisoft devs unveil ReRoll, an ambitious stab at turning reality into a game

For years, games have repeatedly tried t' outdo one another in the quest for the most expansive, interactive open-world experience possible, but what could offer more true freedom than our own planet?

that be the basic idea behind ReRoll. In development at Pixyul, a new studio created by two former Ubisoft developers, ReRoll uses civilian aerial drones t' capture images from all over the globe which be then stitched together t' create the in-game world. Further, ReRoll employs a "Reality Sync System," that takes real-time environmental data from our reality 'n feeds it into the game. If it be snowing in Chicago, ReRoll's virtual rendition a the Windy City will likewise be blanketed in fluffy white flakes, Pixyul claims.

Little be known a ReRoll's gameplay, though it be developers describe the game as a survival action-RPG. "t' subsist, ye need t' eat, rest, exercise, learn, fight but most a all find all the different ways t' survive," reads the game's official description.

While no release date has been established for ReRoll, Pixyul has set up a crowdfunding effort on the game's website. As with most fundraising attempts, those who contribute money t' the development a ReRoll will earn exclusive swag in exchange for their blind faith in the project - in this case, weaponry 'n vehicles t' be used in the game. Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon director building 'dream team' for new project

Dean Evans, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon's director, be already assembling a team for his next game. it be not a follow-up t' the standalone laser-filled neon shooter, but rather a new game - a "dream project."

"it be the one all a us have always wanted t' make 'n it seems like they be gonna let us do it," Evans told Polygon. Evans 'n his team be currently occupying the offices a former THQ Montreal, which Ubisoft snatched up during THQ's liquidation. Evans has already enlisted a concept artist, Darren Bartley, 'n an unnamed art director whose past experience includes AAA stealth games 'n third-person shooters.

"These be two lads I've wanted t' work with for a very long time. 'n because a how Blood Dragon went down, I've got the trust from the lads upstairs [at Ubisoft] t' go 'n build a compelling 'n unique universe." Evans added that this doesn't necessarily mean we'll definitely see his game released - Ubisoft could still pull the plug at any time.

"The audience I be interested in speaking t' be people that dismiss games 'n don't consider themselves gamers," Evans added about this new project. "There be so much we can do t' bring new gamers into the fold, but we be constantly putting up barriers all the *crag*ing time." Evans regrettably didn't go into greater detail about the new game.

But, as far as a Blood Dragon sequel be concerned, Evans thinks the universe could support another game. "If we do something we want t' make sure we take our time with it. When working on the game, I built a universe - 'n that be the most amazing process t' go through, yer world building. 'n when ye build a world 'n ye build a universe that has tight logic on it, ye have longevity in that."

Last year, actor Michael Biehn, who plays Blood Dragon protagonist Rex "Power" Colt, said that Evans be pitching the idea for a sequel t' Ubisoft. Unfortunately, Ubisoft did not respond t' our inquiries on the matter.

The recent resurrection a the retro-style role-playing game be exciting for many reasons, particularly an increased variety a different, new games. This be a Deja Review: A quick, unscored look at the new features 'n relative agelessness a a remade, revived or re-released game. When Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation first debuted on the Vita in 2012, it promised a wholly original viewpoint on the eternal war between Assassins 'n Templars. The game's protagonist, Aveline de Grandpré, remains the only woman t' lead an Assassin's Creed game, 'n beyond that she's a French 'n African descent. Given the 18th century setting, the game's protagonist alone best have offered the developers at Ubisoft Sofia myriad plot threads t' explore, but Liberation seemed more concerned with debuting gimmicky new gameplay options 'n be quickly overshadowed by Assassin's Creed 3.

Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD attempts t' mate the experimental gameplay ideas a the formerly Vita-exclusive adventure with aesthetics more suitable for Xbox 360, PS3 'n PC, while also streamlining the game's missions 'n improving it be controls.
