Some folk like to joke about how beards come in handy when it comes to food, as facial hair can act as storage (eww, I know)...but this is something else entirely. Incredibeard isn't using his beard for storage, but as a bowl. Read more...

Whenever a game misses its release date, or pushes the date back before reaching it, the lead developer should make a webcam video explaining why the original date was incorrect. Most of the time they’d probably just hold their hands up and say the corporate machine had flicked through a calendar, stabbing at the pages with its platinum proboscis until the perforations delineated a suitable launch window. Shawn McGrath, creator of Dyad, popped on his best beard and took to YouTube, where he admitted to lying about the March release and then talked about the difficulties of caring for a newborn. “Here’s how stupid kids are…”, he explains.

Penny Arcade’s new games journalism site (note the lack of capitalisation), the PA Report, has kicked off with an interview with Uncy Gabe of Valve’s new beard. Most interviews with the newly hirsute Newell have some form of forward looking speculation about the industry, because that’s the way his mind works, and Newell’s take on hardware shows that the Valve hivemeind are contemplating how best to serve customers hardware as well as software. Though Newell observes that “It’s definitely not the first thought that crosses our mind”, Valve’s biofeedback experiments have been so successful that they are, if no-one else does it adequately, prepared to sell the hardware themselves.

“It’s not a question of whether or not this is going to be useful for customers, whether or not it’s going to be useful for content developers, you know, it’s figuring out the best way we can get these into people’s hands.”

But how could that happen?

Minecraft creator’s Mojang are building a game right in front of your eyes, all for charity. The team have started Mojam, a weekend of sleepless game development to aid the Humble Bundle. The type of game they’re building was put to vote, and looks like it’ll be an Egyptian Steampunk Dungeon Crawler Shoot ‘Em Up. If they make a million dollars, Notch will shave his beard.
