It’s not unusual to pay less than a quid for a game in this age of austerity but how often do you choose to give more when a bundle allows you to pick a price? The Free Bundle will not allow your generosity to corrupt its mission statement, which is to gather free games and then to offer them for free in a bundle called ‘Free’. If you throw money at your screen, just this once it will actually bounce back and land in your tea instead of transporting directly to the developers. This collection includes mad racer Nitronic Rush, horror game Ascension, platformer Celestial Mechanica, Imscared and the splendiferous Abobo’s Big Adventure. You can download them all here.

You know, we'd like to think that if our son was ever kidnapped, we'd cross continents to get him back. Abobo crosses whole dimensions in the pursuit of his kidnapped offspring in Abobo's Big Adventure, an upcoming free-to-play Flash game. He also falls onto cats from outer space and eats human heads whole in one bite, though we're not sure if that's good parenting or just being a psychopath.

Abobo was the large bald man in Double Dragon, the perpetually angry and brutal swine whose car-sized fists were the doom of many an intrepid sprite-puncher. Browser-based mini-epic Abobo’s Big Adventure isn’t a Double Dragon rehash though – it starts that way but it soon becomes apparent that it’s actually a homage to the NES itself, with a variety of easily recognisable worlds, enemies and play styles. It’s a joy to play, although nearly as tough as an actual NES game at times. Because a lot of the fun lies in discovering the sheer amount and variety of stuff that’s packed in there I’m tempted to recommend playing it immediately rather than watching the trailer below. There are more surprises that way.

Abobo's Big Adventure is ready for action. The free-to-play Flash game from I-Mockery stars Double Dragon's mega man in a mishmash of classic NES settings. He's trying to rescue his son, Aboboy, from a rogues gallery of yesteryear's best-known (and most pixelated) characters.

There are several clever details in the first few moments of the parody, including a string of suicidal baddies from Kung-Fu, an assault by Donkey Kong and the angelic deaths of Spy vs. Spy. The game may take a little while to load, but it should be worth it for aficionados of old-school.

Lots of people have been watching and waiting for this one. In case you didn't notice, it supposedly went live yesterday. When I get some free time, I'll be sure to waste some time with it.

Thanks for the tip, Jefferson!

Abobo's Big Adventure is a free-to-play Flash game from I-Mockery that sends the Double Dragon strongman through a carousel of old NES settings and parodies. And if you're anything like us, you've been waiting for its release ever since that debut trailer first burned your eyeballs out with its awesomeness. Well good news, friends: The wait is almost over, as I-Mockery has announced a release date of January 11 for the title, confirmed on the official website.

The bad news is that only gives you eight too-short days to make your peace with the world before your mind succumbs to the insanity of this one as well. Better work fast.

Late this summer, a new Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) game will be released starring all your favorite characters from, well, pretty much all your favorite 8-bit games. It's called Abobo's Big Adventure, and it's a love letter to the NES that's been 10 years in the making...
