The original Borderlands was something different. Though it had quite a few issues and rough patches, the originality of the concept -- a first-person shooter that incorporated a Diablo-like looting system was enough to overcome its flaws. Now with the sequel, Gearbox has the opportunity to present a more polished and varied game, which it seems to be doing...

#borderlands One of the four new Borderlands 2 images released for Gamescom shows what the game looks like in the first-person perspective. You know, the angle from which you'll actually be playing the game. More »

Gearbox's original Borderlands mixed first-person shooter gameplay with Diablo-like looting to great effect. Assuming some of the rough patches are smoothed out in the sequel, Borderlands 2 could be one of 2012's best games...

If you're looking for some dude dual-wielding big guns and blasting away skags and mechs, you've come to the right place. Check out this Borderlands 2 tease featuring the "Gunzerker."

There’s really not much to the Borderlands 2 trailer, I’m afraid, but it’s below if you want to see it. The trailer shows they beardy man (above) shooting monsters and robots. Something crashes in the background. There’s some grass. All clues, perhaps…(more…)

#borderlands Gamersmint this morning popped up these six Borderlands 2 screens, at first saying Gearbox Software released them. I don't have my Game Informer so I'm not sure if these are magscans. Don't look like 'em, though. More »

#borderlands My copy of Game Informer did not arrive today. Time and the Columbia alumni rag, which I actively do not want did. So I will not be reading about Borderlands 2 this weekend, as some are. More »

Borderlands 2 is bumpin' up the brutality with new details, courtesy of the latest issue of GameInformer. Co-op will remain four-player, but the enemy and NPC AI has been revved to support a more interactive environment, with friendlies offering dialogue and bandits carrying weapons unique to their class. Eridium, a new element, will serve as currency and a means of upgrading weapons and vehicles, we assume by duct-taping it to whichever item you wish to improve.

The original Borderlands characters will be NPCs in the Gearbox sequel, but we do have a small amount of details on a new character, the dwarf Salvador, who is pictured above. A Gunzerker, Salvador will be able to dual-wield any weapon, all while sporting a sweet beard. Borderlands 2 will use all new weapons, each designed to fit the personalities of their in-game manufacturers, and the story will feature dynamic missions, making factors such as time critical to your success.

Borderlands 2 is expected to launch in Take-Two's fiscal year 2013, which begins April 1, 2012. But most importantly, Claptrap will be back, we hope with some new dance moves.

Game Informer are doing one of their big, slow reveals for Borderlands 2, and some details have already begun to trickle out. The characters from the first game are apparently now NPCs in this game, and robo-host Claptrap will also be making an appearance. The new game will have a currency and resource system, based on an element called “Eridium”, and there will apparently be a big overhaul of the weapons. These will now be customisable and more visually distinct. There’s also going to be wider range of vehicles.

The biggest improvement, however, seems to be in the NPCs, who will be more dynamic in combat, interacting with each other and so on, and also moving about and interacting with characters in the world, which they entirely failed to do in the first game. It’s looking intriguing.
