Borderlands 2 has around 300 enemies, and they're all in the image below, which we assume was torturously sketched, lined and colored by a Gearbox marketing artist. Borderlands 2 drops tomorrow, so click to make the pic bigger and study up.

Hey Vault Hunters, the wait is nearly over! You’ve seen all the gameplay videos, you’ve read all the previews, you’ve possibly even played our demo at PAX, now it’s time for you to finally get your hands on Borderlands 2 for PlayStation 3 when it hits store shelves everywhere and PlayStation Network in North America Tuesday, September 18th! The development team at Gearbox Software has worked tirelessly over the last few years to make this game live up to the mantra “bigger, better, and more badass,” and we’re all so excited for you to experience the shooting and looting mayhem for yourself.

If you haven’t let Sir Hammerlock take you on a tour of Pandora yet, check out the video below to learn about some of the exciting things you’ll discover in the game. For example, Borderlands 2 has 870 bazillion guns! According to our team’s math wiz, that’s approximately 800 bazillion more guns than the 17,750,000 that the Guinness Book of World Records said was in the first game!

From everyone at Gearbox Software and 2K Games, we’d like to thank you for your support, enthusiasm and encouragement while we developed this game. It’s been a wild ride and this Tuesday the mayhem begins — bring some friends!

Follow Gearbox and 2K Games on Twitter, and check out Borderlands 2 on Facebook.

Borderlands 2 won't be available until tomorrow, despite what its trailer released this morning wants you to believe, which means there's still time to get the Mecromancer DLC as a bonus with pre-order.

We expect a stream of quality downloadable content post-launch for Borderlands 2, if DLC for the first game is anything to judge by. Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford teased fans at a panel during Gearbox Software Community Day in Dallas, saying the team is channeling Star Wars: Return of the Jedi for one piece of content.

"I've always wanted to ride a sail barge and drive a Sand Skiff," Pitchford said. "I've always wanted to do that, and we've got some cool stuff that's along those lines."

Borderlands 2 will have four pieces of DLC by June 2013, available for $10 each, or all together for $30 as part of the season pass.

Peter Molyneux is building a cube that contains Powermonger 2*. Tap away to win! In what I assume is an intentional act of satirical imitation, 2K send word of a promotional webgame that bestows Borderlands 2 prizes on players. Instead of a cube, Mount Jackmore has players click on a sculpture of Handsome Jack’s head, which is divided into sections, each of which will turn gold after a certain amount of bullets have hit it. The player who fires a shot into a gold part of the head destroys that section and receives a prize. This is a spoof, right? Either way, it’s live now and prizes include badges, clothing, figurines and copies of the game. The game lasts four weeks, with the head regenerating every seven days.

Borderlands 2 will be downloadable on PlayStation Network in North America on its September 18 release date, the PlayStation Blogcast revealed. It's also available for pre-order on PSN in Europe right now, for release on September 21. That makes the PlayStation Plus release of Borderlands a really smart piece of marketing.

Unfortunately, since the American download version is not currently pre-orderable, it won't get you Premiere Club access.

#borderlands As we sit here waiting for the launch of Borderlands 2, it's easy to forget that a lot of people thought that the first game was going to be a huge flop. It was a new idea amid a flood of sequels, and a totally untested quantity—did we really need another first-person shooter? Why would anyone buy it? Analyst Michael Pachter famously said that the game was being "sent to die" amid the other big releases like Modern Warfare 2. It made sense at the time! More »

Next week’s release of Borderlands 2 is weighing awfully heavily on our minds! In today’s very special interview, we invite Gearbox Software Creative Director Paul Hellquist to answer a battery of questions from Jeff, myself, and you. We touch on just about everything: the game’s vastly enhanced variety, co-op improvements, weapon manufacturers, questing, level caps, DLC, and much more. If you’re dying for next Tuesday, this is one interview you won’t want to miss.

Then we shift gears to another one of fall 2012’s hottest releases with Dishonored in our new interview with Arkane Studios Co-Director Raf Colantonio. Mr. Colantonio provides copious insight into the creative process behind this thinking-man’s FPS, whether it’s the importance of allowing players to choose between lethal and nonlethal tactics or how the game’s macabre atmosphere infests every square inch of its dark, dank world.

Of course, we also share next week’s upcoming North American PSN release lineup, answer a boatload of Player Queries™, and serve up another Mystery Theme stumper. Good stuff, I swear! Now click that succulent-looking play button up above.

Stuff We Talked About
  • Borderlands 2
  • Dishonored
  • PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
  • Tekken Tag Tournament 2

Whether you're a vault hunter who picked up the loot chest edition of Borderlands 2 or pre-ordered it through a select retailer, you'll find yourself burdened by one golden key come launch day. This golden key unlocks a special treasure chest in the city of Sanctuary.

The chest (pictured above) will drop some very rare (see: purple) loot once open - loot that is scaled to your character, Gearbox says. So the potency of the loot within is dependent on the level of your character when you open it - and while we know how hard it is to not open a chest full of loot in a game where that is one of the primary goals, you may want to hold off as long as you can on this golden chest.

#borderlands It's always "Mechromancer this" or "Nerchromancer" that. Why does no one call the robot-riding downloadable character for Borderlands 2 by her real name? Oh, we didn't know it. Now we do. Hello, Gaige. Nice death machine you've got there. More »

At first glance, you wouldn’t expect a big loud shooty bang bang game such as Borderlands 2 to be the type who wears a pocket protector and hangs around for the after school mathlete competitions, and yet here it is, polishing up its statistics term paper. The Borderlands 2 character class skill tree is available online for your perusal, allowing you first to see exactly which class gets what abilities, and secondly to get down to the all-important task of minmaxing stats and specialisations.

Posting about skill tree/talent calculators is really more of a Massively jam, what with such things typically being the fare of massively multiplayer online orc/spaceship simulators and everything, but in Borderlands 2's case, we'll have to make an exception.

Calculators like the one seen above are now available on the game's official site via each character's individual page, which can be accessed by surmounting the age gate and clicking on "Characters." We went ahead and spec'd out our siren, and we don't mean to brag or anything but that build up there is 100 percent guaranteed to be the most efficient, powerful build for the class.

Either that, or we randomly slapped it together in about 12 seconds.

Borderlands 2's Mechromancer DLC should be available October 16 for $10. Eurogamer reports Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford dropped the current date and price estimate this weekend at PAX Prime.

The Mechromancer will be the fifth playable class in Borderlands 2, which you can still get bundled at no extra cost with a pre-order of the game. Publisher 2K Games also recently announced there are four $10 DLC packs planned for the game by next June, which are also available through a $30 "Season Pass." Immediate upsell, upsell, upsell.
