What was Dragon Age III: Inquisition has now got rid of the eye-eye-eye. Losing el numero three-o may seem like a minor thing, but to Electronic Arts, it was a "tactical marketing decision." Frank Gibeau, the boss of EA Games, acknowledged to IGN that there's a debate over whether numbers in sequels work, don't work, mean anything or don't. "We felt like we wanted to bring more attention to the word Inquisition, because that’s more the story arc of what it’s like. "It’s a tactical marketing decision" he added, before adding "There wasn’t anything that strategic about it, to be blunt." Here's where I forget the distinction between strategy and tactics, but whatever, marketers expropriate military terms all the time without knowing what they mean. The non-strategic tactical choice is meant to "draw more attention to the fact that Inquisition is an all-new chapter inside of the Dragon Age universe, as opposed to people expecting a follow-on to Dragon Age 1 and 2 in a literal, linear sense." #dragonage BioWare revealed the first screenshot for the upcoming Dragon Age III yesterday at...the Bradford Animation Festival in England. It was only shown for a few seconds, but that was long enough for an attendee to grab a shot. More »

I think I actually like Dragon Age II a lot more than most people. Mainly, though, I appreciate for what it nearly ended up being – not so much what it was. I mean, it explored some seriously interesting subject matter and dropped the tried and tired “epic globe stroll to save the world” format in favor of a more self-contained, intimate tale. Time passed, things changed, characters (sort of) led their own lives, etc. Unfortunately, those lives all tended to lead to the same goddamn cave, and I’ve played FMV games with more robust character customization. To hear BioWare tell it, though, the recently de-doctored RPG giant is taking those complaints extremely seriously. I do, however, still have a few reservations about the resulting plan for Dragon Age III.

They also say that they've delayed a "key game" from fiscal year 13 to fiscal year 14, which, for those who prefer to speak English, means they've delayed a "key game" from coming out by March 31, 2013 to some time after. An inside source has apparently revealed to Kotaku that the Dragon Age franchise will see both PvE and PvP arena-based multiplayer modes...

At Gamescom, PC Gamer sat down with Dr. Ray Muzyka, CEO of BioWare, and asked him about the company's plans for Dragon Age III...
