Currently The Last of Us team is hard at work on our first ever single player DLC, The Last of Us: Left Behind. It’s shaping up to be awesome and we’ll have more news on it soon. We released a glimpse into its world recently:

Few planned film adaptations of video games ever make it off the ground, but new domains registered by Sony indicate that the company is at least working toward a big-screen version of Naughty Dog's apocalyptic hit The Last of Us.

GameSpot recently discovered the two domains, TheLastOfUsMovie.net and TheLastOfUs-Movie.com, despite Sony taking pains to obfuscate these sites. Instead of registering the domains through Sony or one of its many subsidiaries, the two URLs were registered by a corporation called MarkMonitor which grabs websites like these for clients who would prefer that their name stay out of the same media spotlight we're now shining at them.

That said, it's possible that Sony is acquiring these URLs as a way to protect any future plans it may or may not have to make a Last of Us film. Corporations plan these things long in advance, and there's any number of reasons why a company might want to lock down valuable intellectual property.

On the other hand, The Last of Us was one of the best games of 2013, has sold more than three million units in half a year, and generated more critical hyperbole than most publishers could ever hope for. With all that built-in momentum, Sony just needs to find a talented, young lead to play Ellie. Maybe that girl from Juno is available.

GameStop isn't quite ready to reveal its full swath of Black Friday deals, but the company has offered a preview including discounted consoles, cheap recent hits, and a sale on all used games.

On Black Friday, if you walk into a GameStop (and aren't crushed by an unruly mob), you'll find a 250GB Xbox 360 with Halo 4 and Tomb Raider priced at $200. Sharing that price tag is a PlayStation 3 bundle which includes a 250GB console as well as copies of Batman: Arkham Origins and The Last of Us.

If you already have one of these consoles, GameStop is also offering big discounts on two recent games: Just Dance 4 will be available for $15, while Battlefield 4 will feature a $25 price tag. If you'd prefer something a bit more dated, however, GameStop is also planning a "buy two, get one free" deal on all used games in the store.

The discounts listed above are only the highlights of GameStop's Black Friday deals. The retailer has yet to publicly release its ad, though the store does offer a site where interested consumers can sign up to receive the ad just as soon as it's ready to debut.

While GameStop will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, the store will reopen on 12:01AM, Black Friday. Most likely this means that you'll need to visit your local store as early as possible to ensure savings, but those who'd rather sleep in can instead sign up to be notified when GameStop issues its forthcoming Cyber Monday ad.

Our first-ever single player DLC, The Last of Us: Left Behind, was unveiled last week in New York during the PS4 launch event. If you haven’t seen the teaser, check it out now. There are some cool hints as to what kind of gameplay you’ll be seeing in the video.

The Last of Us: Left Behind is one element of our $19.99 Season Pass. We wanted the Season Pass to be all-inclusive and a great value. The first piece of DLC for the Season Pass was our Abandoned Territories Map Pack. The Abandoned Territories Map Pack released in October and it’s a blast, with four brand new maps for the Factions multiplayer in The Last of Us.

In addition to our behind-the-scenes documentary, Grounded: The Making of The Last of Us, we added over 60 multiplayer head items to the Season Pass. The Country Flag Hats and Nightmare Bundle are out now. We’re making the next three bundles special for Season Pass holders by making them available starting as soon the PlayStation Store updates in your region. Here’s a look at what’s coming your way:

Government Issue Bundle – Available immediately for Season Pass holders, releasing November 19 on the PlayStation Store for $8.99 (individual head items prices vary).

Rally Bundle – Available immediately for Season Pass holders, releasing December 3 on the PlayStation Store for $8.99 (individual head items prices vary).

Bygones Bundle – Available immediately for Season Pass holders, releasing December 17 on the PlayStation Store for $8.99 (individual head items prices vary).

That’s some serious early access and you’ll have the coolest multiplayer character out there if you pick up the Season Pass now. If you don’t get the Season Pass you’ll have to buy the separate bundles to get every multiplayer head item. Each bundle has its own exclusive head item. The Nightmare Mask, Battle Mask, Flame Motorcycle Helmet, and the Rooster Hat are only wearable if you buy the bundle associated with it or purchase the Season Pass.

When you do the math, the Season Pass is a tremendous value with savings of 75% over purchasing all the content individually. So it’s the best way to get all of The Last of Us content without crushing your wallet. Not only do you get immediate access to all the head items but you’ll be getting awesome multiplayer content and what we promise will be one of the most compelling pieces of single player DLC ever made.

A few weeks ago The Last of Us Creative Director Neil Druckmann visited local LA TV station KLCS and filmed Between the Lines with Barry Kibrick. Barry wanted to dive deeper into the philosophy behind The Last of Us and what makes the game the universally acclaimed hit it is. The full episode is now available online. During tonight's PlayStation All Access event on Spike, Naughty Dog co-founder Evan Wells revealed a brief teaser trailer for "Left Behind," the upcoming prequel DLC episode for The Last of Us. The DLC will focus on Ellie's life before Joel, when she was palling around with her friend RIley.

This has been an incredible week at Naughty Dog as we were getting ready for two major reveals – both of which blew up the Spike TV PS4 All Access launch extravaganza.

We premiered our first teaser trailer for The Last of Us: Left Behind, a single-player DLC campaign coming early next year. But we weren’t done with announcements quite yet; we had one more treat for our fans – a teaser video that confirms we are working on an Uncharted game on the PlayStation 4 system!

She’s back! Ashley Johnson reprises her role as Ellie in The Last of Us: Left Behind single-player DLC. Left Behind takes place while Ellie is attending a military boarding school in the Boston quarantine zone, prior to meeting Joel and the events in the main campaign of The Last of Us.

In just a few short months since the release of The Last of Us, you have made it clear that Ellie has become one of your favorite characters in games. Today, we’re excited to confirm that you play as Ellie throughout the entirety of Left Behind.

Joining Ellie on this new adventure is Riley, her best friend and also a mentor of sorts at the military boarding school. Just as The Last of Us focused on the bond between Ellie and Joel, Left Behind explores the bond between Ellie and Riley through a series of events that will forever change both of their lives.

Bringing Riley to life through our performance capture process is the talented Yaani King, who we had the pleasure of working with on the DLC.

If you just can’t wait until the DLC drops to get more of The Last of Us, go out immediately and read the Dark Horse comic series, The Last of Us: American Dreams – which is conveniently available in the recently released paperback collection. I cannot recommend this series enough and it’s even more relevant now, as in the comic you will learn more about how Ellie and Riley first became friends, giving you even more insight into Ellie’s story in The Last of Us universe. And it’s also just plain great!

The Last of Us: Left Behind will be releasing in early 2014 – we will announce a specific date as soon as we iron out all the details. The awesome news is that Left Behind is included in the The Last of Us Season Pass, which also includes a ton of multiplayer DLC, and is the best deal you can get for all the DLC content we’ve planned to release – over 75% worth of savings compared to buying all the DLC separately. If you’re only interested in the single-player DLC, you can pre-order it starting November 19 on the PlayStation Store for $14.99.

We have great news for all our Uncharted fans – Amy, Justin, and the team are hard at work on an amazing new installment of the Uncharted series to be released exclusively on the PlayStation 4 system. The Last of Us: American Dreams from Dark Horse Comics is now available for purchase in paperback form. Set a short time before the events of The Last of Us, American Dreams gives fans a chance to learn more about Naughty Dog's fungi-infected world.

The comic focuses on Ellie and her friendship with a girl named Riley. Although Riley never appears in the game, the two girls' friendship provides important context for Ellie's behavior. American Dreams is co-written by Faith Erin Hicks and Neil Druckmann, while Hicks also provides the artwork for the comic.

Naughty Dog has partnered with t-shirts-and-art-prints online shop We Love Fine for a The Last of Us-inspired fan art competition, and according to a post on the Naughty Dog website, the winner's designs could end up on official The Last of Us merchandise.

Artists have until November 11 to submit up to five designs, which will be rated by Last of Us fans. On December 17, the most popular designs will move on to the final round of judging. Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, who voiced Joel and Ellie, respectively, as well as Creative Director Neil Druckmann and Game Director Bruce Straley will serve as guest judges.

The Grand Prize winner will take home up to $2,000, as well as a Post-Pandemic Edition of the game, Season Pass DLC, a Dark Horse artbook, a trade paperback copy of The Last of Us American Dreams, and a signed poster by the dev team. You can check out all the rules for entry, as well as other prizes, on the We Love Fine website.

Naughty Dog has released two new additions to The Last of Us: The Abandoned Territories Map Pack and the 1.05 patch.

The video above was released as a trailer for the Map Pack, which can now be found on the PlayStation Network Store for $10 (or free, if you already picked up the game's $20 Season Pass). The Pack adds a new DLC playlist to each of the The Last of Us' multiplayer game modes, including those introduced by prior DLC releases.

You can find a video overview of the 1.05 patch below, alongside a list of its major changes. This patch deals with minor balance changes on the game's multiplayer side, though newer players will be happy to see that the end result of these fixes should be a more friendly, inviting gameplay experience. If nothing else, fixing that bug that gave winning players awesome weapons while giving losers literal bits of scrap should alleviate a lot of player frustration.

The Last of Us has reached its four month anniversary. To celebrate we’re working with We Love Fine to hold a fan art design contest for The Last of Us. If you’ve survived Joel and Ellie’s journey, you likely have some compelling ideas about certain aspects of the game you’d like to see in the real world. We want to see those ideas! Enter into the design contest and your design could be featured on future The Last of Us merchandise. The submission period will start tomorrow so get inspired and you might win some really cool prizes!

The Submission period will run from 12:01 AM Pacific on October 15th, 2013 until 11:59 PM Pacific on November 11th, 2013. You can submit up to five designs in total. Eight days after submissions close, a rating period will begin in which all our fans can rate each entered design. Taking those ratings as a way to bubble favorites up to the top, on December 17th we’ll start the final judging period.

In conjunction with We Love Fine, we’ll be judging submissions based on artistic metric and how true it is to the brand and the spirit of the game. We’ll have guest judges Ashley Johnson (Ellie) and Troy Baker (Joel) as well as Neil Druckmann (Creative Director) and Bruce Straley (Game Director) who will be selecting winners for special prizes categories. We’ve also patched certain aspects of the game. In fact we re-doubled our patch version 1.04 efforts decided to skip straight to 1.05. You can hear about the major changes via Patch 1.05 in this video:

Multiplayer

Abandoned Territories Map Pack DLC

DLC playlist added for each game type. This includes both the retail maps and the DLC maps, but the DLC maps should appear much more frequently in the vote.

Gameplay

Fixed an issue where players on the winning team would occasionally get fully crafted items or machetes from caches, while players on the losing team would get incorrect items. Players should no longer get comeback weapons (pre-crafted molotovs / bombs / purchase weapons) when they are winning by more than a small margin. Fixed the consistency of comeback weapons spawning – there should be less comeback weapons in close matches and more consistent spawning in severely unbalanced matches. Once a player receives comeback weapons, however, they will not receive them again until a certain amount of progress has occurred in the match. 2 Spawning logic has been adjusted in Supply Raid and Interrogation:

• Fixed a bug where it would occasionally be impossible for a player to receive a 2 in a game.
• Reworked the initial 2 spawning logic to make the first 2 spawn a bit later to balance the escalation of the match.
• Lowered the overall number of potential 2x4s that could spawn in a match by including weighting based on match progress.

The additional hit on modded melee weapons has been moved from Brawler Level 1 to Level 2, and the health gain from melee hits moved from Level 2 to 1. Added a Parts bonus for late joiners, based on when you join a match in progress. This bridges the gap between players who started from the beginning of the game and might have a Parts advantage over the late joiner. When late-joining beyond the first 2 minutes that match will no longer count towards any clan progress or missions. Fixed an issue on Checkpoint and Lakeside that had locations where some items could not be picked up. Made a fix to prevent players from being able to climb the tilted flag pole on the High School map. Fixed an issue with level graphics dropping out on The Dam.

Interrogation Mode Fixes

Games no longer end in ties unless both teams are on the same section of the unlocking process. If one team has more interrogations than the other, that team will win the match. The additional parts bonus for winning by a large margin is only awarded when the lockbox is fully unlocked. Otherwise only the standard win bonus is awarded. Killcard now correctly describes whether your character was executed or interrogated. Fire on the ground (from a Molotov) now damages the player when they attempt to unlock the lockbox and will properly interrupt the unlock process. Sounds have been added to the Interrogation animation Fixed a bug where the end-of-match music was not playing in Interrogation mode. Technical Fixes

Grand Theft Auto V is the second game of 2013 to get a 10, along with The Last of Us. Will one of the two inevitably be named Game of the Year?

Two games received 10s on IGN this year, so we debate which title will have the bigger legacy going forward.

The first story-based DLC add-on for The Last of Us will feature a new character, Naughty Dog's Eric Monacelli has declared in a post on the PlayStation Blog. Following a lengthy casting phase, this extra chapter, which is due sometime in December or January and part of the Season Pass program, will begin its motion-capture filming sessions next week.

"This is an ambitious story with strong ties into the narrative of The Last of Us," Monacelli writes on the PS Blog. There is no mention of whether protagonists Joel or Ellie will make an appearance.

Prior to the single-player content, the multiplayer-focused Abandoned Territories Map Pack will arrive on October 15. Four maps in total are included: Suburbs, Bus Depot, Hometown and Bookstore. The third piece of Season Pass content will also be multiplayer-centric and is due within the first half of 2014.

The Last of Us Season Pass is priced at $20 - which Naughty Dog says represents a 75 percent savings over picking up all of the DLC piecemeal - and available through PSN and GameStop.

We’ve been hard at work making the DLC content for The Last of Us – and I know that all our Season Pass holders are eagerly waiting for any updates or news. Today, we’re revealing the first of three Season Pass DLC drops: the Abandoned Territories Map Pack.

Weather the opposing Faction and the random, dynamic dust storm on the Suburbs map. Explore a layered map of an overgrown urban environment with wild giraffes in the background in the Bus Depot map. Stalk around in a dark, eerie, moonlit, environment – the perfect setting for some serious stealth – in the Hometown map. Bookstore features a stacked, bi-level layout adding a highly unique dose of vertical gameplay. Excited yet? These maps will be available October 15.

When we initially talked about the Season Pass we mentioned making our first ever story-driven single player DLC. This is an ambitious story with strong ties into the narrative of The Last of Us. We just wrapped up a long casting process for a new character, and we’re starting our performance capture shoot next week. The single-player DLC is currently planned for release around the December-January timeframe.

Our third Season Pass DLC is multiplayer focused and will arrive in the first half of 2014. We’ll start to reveal more information and a release timeframe as soon as we’ve worked out those details.

The above video, which details an alternate ending to The Last of Us, was previously only seen by those who attended Naughty Dog's panel at PAX Prime. Through the wonders of the internet, we're all now able to see it - though we stress no one should watch unless they've finished the game. Spoilers abound!

Surprisingly, this alternate ending was completely improvised. Aside from one line of direction from creative director Neil Druckmann, the actors came up with everything in the moment. It's an odd sequence, but somehow it totally works!
