Capcom has laid out commercial projections for its biggest upcoming games, and expects Resident Evil 6 to sell seven million copies. Resident Evil 5 sold almost two million in its first six months or so in the US alone.

Resident Evil 6 is just one of four big titles in the pipeline from Capcom. The Ninja Theory reboot of Devil May Cry is expected to sell two million, and this month's launch of Dragon's Dogma is expected to yield a total of 1.5 million units sold. Finally, the recently announced Lost Planet 3 - which is in development at Spark Unlimited - is expected to sell the least of the bunch, with 1.4 million copies.

Capcom has revealed new pre-order exclusives for Resident Evil 6. As detailed in a post on the Capcom Unity blog, a unique Mercenaries mode map will be available for customers who pre-order the game at GameStop, Amazon or Best Buy...

Resident Evil 6 will feature "Mercenaries Mode." That's the good news. The bad news is that Capcom is spreading three additional maps for the mode across three separate retailers as pre-order bonuses.

Gamestop pre-order customers will receive The Catacombs map, Amazon purchasers will obtain the High Seas Fortress and Best Buy buyers will be granted the Rail Yard. Capcom has some teaser images of each on its Unity site.

If you aren't looking to spend $180 to obtain all three merc maps, we're sure Capcom will make them available as DLC for a nominal fee sometime after launch.

We're used to premium editions costing a bit extra, but Resident Evil 6's bundle for Japan costs a whopping $1,300. This premium edition contains Resident Evil 6, Leon's leather jacket (seriously) and four different phone cases - one designed for Leon, one for Chris, one for newly-revealed Luke and another random case.

It makes sense the bundle would include four phone cases: you're going to need at least three friends to help you buy this $1,300 bundle. We guess you could share Leon's leather jacket, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants style; the jacket comes in sizes S, M, L and XL.

Only 5,000 of these premium edition bundles will be made available for ¥100,000 ($1,300) each. Pre-orders are currently open now, and conclude on June 11.

If you're a fan of Resident Evil and have exceptionally deep pockets, prepare to get excited by the Platinum Edition of Resident Evil 6. It's essentially the ultimate special edition, coming with a copy of the game on either Xbox 360 or PlayStation, plus four phone cases one each for Chris, Leon and Jake, plus a random 'secret' case...

The latest Resident Evil 6 trailer does not pull any punches. In fact, unless all of this stuff happens within the game’s first five (what would be incredibly confusing) minutes, I’d say we’re venturing fairly deep into spoiler territory. Now, admittedly, playing Resident Evil for story is a bit like calling customer service to avoid gouging your own eyes out in sheer spittle-soaked frustration, but fair warning nonetheless. Also on the docket: volumes of cryptic dialog, Leon Kennedy’s mesmerizingly shiny hair, and a (playable) man who brings fists to a zombie sword fight. No, it doesn’t seem the least bit scary, but Resident Evil 6 looks big and dumb in the best way possible. Besides, we have the Amnesias and Lone Survivors of the world to make us turn on all the lights and jump ten feet in the air when the cat affectionately brushes against our legs. So then, watch the biggest-budget B-movie you’re likely to ever see after the break.
