So who’s up for some football (I mean soccer… whatever) PINBALL competition? Well even if you’re not into football, there is an awesome new pinball table to play, and depending on your club affinity (or lack thereof), you should definitely get involved in this. Super League Football is releasing today for Zen Pinball 2 on PlayStation Store for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita!

If you’re a fan of Arsenal, Liverpool FC, Barcelona, Real Madrid C.F., A.C. Milan, Juventus Football Club or A.S. Roma, then the choice is simple — you better support your team! For the rest of you who don’t have a club to cheer for, we invite you to join Zen Studios F.C. This team of game devs is ready to take it to the pinball playfield against these ‘other guys.’

12367866035_7e317af7e3_z.jpg

Who are those guys? THOSE ARE ZEN STUDIOS DEVS! But let’s get serious – what do you get for your hard-earned $2.99? When you download Super League Football you will get to pick a single team. Please note: YOU DO NOT GET ALL TEAMS. That’s right, you have to pick one! We can’t have you cheering for everyone! That’d be blasphemous, right? Once you pick a club, you can start playing in league play, win all sorts of Trophies, and help out your team on the global leaderboards.

A few words on Cross Buy: If you buy this on PS3 or Vita, you are Cross Buy entitled, and you can also import to PS4 (in case you do not yet have a PS4). If you buy this on PS4, you will not get any Cross Buy entitlements (I know this sounds unfair but it’s just the way it is for now). If you have questions, please leave a comment and I will be happy to clarify.

12367865785_14f889efdc_z.jpg

I know many of you are wondering if there will be more teams added. We are working on it – since the announcement there have been other clubs knocking on the door to get involved. It’s great that there is interest! Let’s see how this little experiment goes and we’ll decide where we go from here. Feel free to let us know if your team isn’t on the roster!

If you want to see the table in action, be sure to check out the table trailer on the PlayStation YouTube Channel.

I’ll be representing Zen Studios F.C. and I hope the rest of you are ready to bring your game, so… Game ON! Or, whatever those sporty types like to yell at each other. COME AT ME, BRO.

Zen Studios unveiled the latest addition to its lineup of video pinball tables this week, announcing that the soccer-themed Super League Football is coming soon to Zen Pinball 2 and Pinball FX 2.

Inspired by Williams' real-world 1994 table World Cup Soccer, Super League Football pairs pinball mechanics with sports-themed challenges and gameplay modes. The table features a lineup of international soccer clubs, and players will compete for rank in global and club-specific leaderboards.

Super League Football will premiere soon as a downloadable table for Pinball FX 2 on Xbox Live Arcade, Steam and Windows 8, and will join Zen Pinball 2's playable lineup on the PlayStation 4, PS3, PS Vita, Wii U, and iOS and Android devices. A release date has not been announced.

The competition is heating up on PlayStation! We’re combining the world’s most popular sport with our passion for pinball. Soon you’ll be able to choose your favorite football club on our next table: Super League Football Pinball. Coming to Zen Pinball 2.

Wait… football pinball? Yes! Well, actually, you might know it as soccer, but we Americans like to do things a bit different from the rest of the world. You know, like not using the metric system and calling football soccer. Such rebels.

You’ll side with your favorite clubs including Arsenal, Liverpool FC, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid C.F., A.C. Milan, Juventus, and A.S. Roma as they square off to dominate league play in a new pinball experience. The table will be themed in brilliant style, including images of the clubs biggest stars, team mascots, chants, and theme songs — a totally authentic football experience. Scores will tally to each club’s global leaderboard, providing an overall rank for each club in the league on a global scale on each platform. As you lead your team through league play, you’ll be able to earn trophies and accolades which will be placed in each club’s trophy room.

To be honest, I didn’t know who Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo were before we started working with these clubs, but Zen lead me through a crash course on some of the best players and I must say, these guys have talent. Whether you’re a sports fan or not, there is no argument that these guys are truly amazing athletes.

Don’t have a favorite club? Join Team Zen! We need your help if we’re going to take on the best of the best on the Super League Football table. We want those trophies in the Zen trophy room — I know you pinball wizards have the skill, now you can help us score some major points. Don the Zen FC colors and get ready to score lots of GOOOAAAALS!

12089758845_8d82a236fa_n.jpg12090069753_4ab1dfb93e_n.jpg

I’m sure it’s no surprise, but we play a lot of pinball around here, and World Cup Soccer (Midway 1994), is one of our all-time favorites. We’ve always wanted to pay homage to this real-life pinball table, and here we are, just about to share it with the world.

We aren’t 100% sure when Super League Football will launch, but it’ll be soon! The game will release as DLC for Zen Pinball 2 on PS4, PS3, and PS Vita. Cross buy info is still getting worked out, so we’ll keep you posted.

That just about sums up the Super League Football table — but now we need your input. Is your favorite club missing from our roster? Let us know who you root for, and you might see them in the game someday!

What better way to relax during the holidays than bundle up, pour some hot cider, dim the lights, and enjoy a few rounds of glorious video game pinball? Did you think I was going to suggest spending time with loved ones? Oh. That’s good, too.

This week, PlayStation is getting ready to enjoy the holiday break, so we have one game coming to PS4, and it’s a great one: Zen Pinball 2. For those of you that already own tables on the PS3 or PS Vita version, you’ll be able to download the PS4 tables at no additional cost. For those that are trying out Zen Pinball 2 for the first time, the Sorcerer’s Lair table is free to play.

Given the light release lineup, The Drop will also be taking a short holiday break and coming back to PlayStation.Blog at the start of the new year. Until then, I wish each and every one of you a happy and restful holiday. May your gaming be ample and your snacks be delicious.

Unless you’re dieting for the holiday. In which case, may your diet be successful.

Hey everyone, Zen Studios here with a quick update: the release of Zen Pinball 2 on PS4 here in North America has been pushed ever-so-slightly, now releasing next Tuesday.

When you’re working on a new platform with a complicated game, there might be a few hiccups along the way. Everyone at Sony working behind the scenes to make our game releases possible have been incredible and very accommodating. We’re so lucky to have an incredible team (who probably rarely get thanked) making it possible for us to get our games in your hands!

If you need your Zen Pinball fix now, Doctor Strange is still releasing today on PS3 and Vita for $2.99 (and yes, it will be on PS4 next week).

11341925126_479347777f_z.jpg

In advance of our PS4 release next week, we want to give you some detailed information about how the import process works. Please bookmark this post in case you need this information next week.

There are a few details that we really need you all to pay close attention to so you have a smooth transition from PS3 to PS4. As you may have read in the announcement post, if you bought the tables coming to PS4 in Zen Pinball 2 on PS3 or PS Vita, you can import those to Zen Pinball 2 on PS4 at no charge. Here are more details on how that works:

  • The tables can only import from Zen Pinball 2 > Zen Pinball 2. You cannot import from Marvel Pinball or Star Wars Pinball on PS3 > Zen Pinball 2 on PS4. You CAN import from Marvel or Star Wars Pinball on PS3 > Zen Pinball 2 on PS3 and then > PS4.
  • There is no going backwards from PS4 > PS3. If you want to play the tables on PS3 in the future, we suggest you buy them on PS3 first and then import to PS4.
  • For those of you who downloaded any of the applicable tables via PS+, you can import to PS4 just the same. However, if your PS+ account expires, you will lose access to the content.

The actual import process is pretty easy, but here is a step by step walkthrough that you can reference if you encounter any issues:

Press the square button (Import Tables) on the collection screen to start the import process Please wait while the game is searching for tables available for import If there are tables available to import, the store will offer the next batch of content it has found. Press the x button (Enter) on each offered content’s download icon to add them to downloads, then press the circle button (Back) to return to the collection screen, and if there are still tables to import, the store will offer them in the next batch. Repeat this process until all content is added to the download queue. Alternatively, if you want to import just a specific table, you can go to the table’s menu, wait a few seconds while the game checks for availability and press the “Download and play!” button when it appears. As the store comes up, press the x button (Enter) on each offered content’s download icon to add them to downloads, and press the circle button (Back) to return to the game. Wait until all downloads finish (you can check their progress in the PS4 user interface under Notifications/Downloads), and there you go! You can play your imported tables straight away!

If you find the process is not working for you, we have posted a comprehensive FAQ in our forums and are standing by to answer your questions.

Every year, we forget that people celebrate Star Wars-related stuff on May 4, thanks to a cute pun, and every year we smile a bit when we remember. This year, Zen Studios is marking the occasion with a sale on Star Wars Pinball, marking the game down 50% in all of its multifarious versions.

Starting yesterday, and through May 7, Star Wars Pinball as part of Pinball FX2 on Xbox is 400 Microsoft Points; Star Wars Pinball for Zen Pinball 2 is €4.99 for European PS Plus members; and the iOS, Android, Mac App Store, and new Kindle Fire HD versions are all 99 cents.

There have been some ups and downs for Star Wars recently - new owners, and new movies, but LucasArts is gone. Enjoy this game, then, as it's likely to be a while before we see more Star Wars games.

The Boba Fett table from Star Wars Pinball looks pretty cool. Don't get too attached to it though. It will probably die a sudden and ignominious death.

Zen Studios' Star Wars Pinball will be released next week on a variety of platforms. The actual release details are a bit complicated, as Zen's pinball series is kind of a nebulous collection of DLC offerings and standalone games.

The Star Wars tables will be DLC for Pinball FX2 on XBLA Feb. 27 (for 800 MSP), for Zen Pinball 2 for PS3 and Vita ($10 with Cross Buy) Feb. 26 in North America and Feb. 27 in Europe, and Zen Pinball 2 on Mac ($3 per table), Zen Pinball for iOS ($2 per) and Zen Pinball HD on Android ($2 per) on Feb. 27.

Standalone apps will also be released on iOS and Android the same day. Oh, and by the way, this is canon now. The events of The Empire Strikes Back really involved giant flippers propelling enormous steel spheres.

Just kidding. But after the last 15 years, admit it: you kinda believed it.

If you missed the Star Wars Pinball announcement from last week, you can read all about the game in the announcement blog post. Today we’re taking a detailed look at the Star Wars Episode V :The Empire Strikes Back table.

The Star Wars Episode V :The Empire Strikes Back pinball table is inspired by the events of the beloved film. The exciting action takes center stage on the main deck of the Executors Star Destroyer, and features iconic scenes that play in the dot matrix display when missions are activated during gameplay.

8468450633_ab34b6b5a2_z.jpg

Join Luke Skywalker as he embraces the power of the Force and leads the charge to repel the advances of Darth Vader and the Galactic Empire. The experience would not be complete without a host of fully functional 3D objects including an AT-AT walker (with circling Snow Speeder!), a Tie Fighter, Ion Cannon and, of course, the emblematic lightsabers of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.

Activating missions on the Star Wars Episode V :The Empire Strikes Back table can be done by hitting the center bank and collecting the letters to spell out STAR WARS. You can then choose which scene to start, causing the Executor to jump to hyperspace and fly to the affected planet of the chosen scene. There are five missions to complete before activating Wizard mode, which drops you in the middle of an epic battle between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader!

8468450637_f0a2765844_z.jpg

One new feature in this table: checkpoints for the table missions! This will really benefit your game if you happen to run out of time or encounter a ball drain in the middle of a mission. The next time you start the mission, you will start at the last checkpoint.

Star Wars Pinball will be available as DLC for Zen Pinball 2 on PlayStation 3 and PS Vita later this month, as Cross-Buy entitled content. Look forward to a detailed look at the Boba Fett table next week — until then, may the Force be with you!

Whether you're playing Pinball FX 2 on Xbox Live Arcade or Windows 8, Zen Pinball 2 on PlayStation Network or Mac, or Zen Pinball on iOS or Zen Pinball HD on Google Play, you'll be able to supplement your virtual table collection with a trio of new Star Wars-themed tables later this month. These three tables will be available standalone on iOS and Google Play, or in the aforementioned games as DLC.

The first three tables offered are themed around Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Boba Fett and the animated Clone Wars series, each with their own unique missions and layout - and in the case of Episode V, even has footage taken directly from the film that will display in the dot matrix window prior to every mission.

A total of 10 different Star Wars Pinball tables are planned. Zen Studios has yet to finalize pricing, but we'll be sure to pass along that info as soon as it's announced.

We know that Zen Pinball 2 is initially a free download, but how much will the extra content cost? Zen Studios stepped in to explain.

The same as on other consoles - $3 for individual tables and $10 for 4-packs.

Obviously the 4-packs make more sense, but only if you plan on enjoying multiple tables. If there's just one table in particular you are interested in, a single purchase might make more sense.
