A portion of a Nintendo Life interview with voice actor, Matthew Mercer...

NL: Did you have any specific inspirations in developing Chrom's voice?

MM: Mainly, I wanted to maintain a balance between casual, cool, stoic, and occasionally playful. He's young, but has a good head on his shoulders and is willing to accept the challenges he's had thrust upon him. Keeping him a character the player can both identify with, and vicariously enjoy his heroics. It was a challenge, but one I was up for.

Chrom fans, rejoice! The handsomest prince in Ylisse now has a mousepad dedicated entirely to his most admirable… asset. The mousepad in the picture, made by Deviantartist Toonikun, is one of only two in the world, and you can own one of them. The spare pad will be given away to one person who reblogs this Tumblr post. The winner will be drawn on June 3. Here's the full (NSFW) mousepad: Heh. Nice to see that the male butts in Fire Emblem are getting as much attention as the female butts. (Via Tiny Cartridge)

The same DLC that hit the states a couple weeks back is now available in Europe. There's a difference this time around. Tharja's butt is completely uncensored, just as it was in the Japanese version. I guess North America just can't handle butts! Thanks to JCC for the heads up.

There's new Fire Emblem DLC out today. The Summer Scramble pack. It adds a beach map to the game as well as "many conversations between the parent characters who normally do not support each other in the main game". Yet it also takes one thing away. When the pack was released in Japan, it featured splash images of several characters, both male and female, in swimsuits. One of these characters, the bikini-clad Tharja, had her back turned to the "camera", her fingers gripping the swimsuit in let's say a suggestive fashion. For the North American release, however, that image has been edited, a piece of material hovering perfectly over the area in question. Does it help? I don't think so! Covering the area only makes it more suggestive. As in, suggesting there's no swimsuit under there at all. This isn't the first time 3DS art has been edited, and given Nintendo of America's bizarrely puritan slant - pointlessly at odds with the game's older target market - it probably won't be the last, either. A portion of a Vooks review...

Having played a large majority of the Fire Emblem games, I might even go as far as to say that this is my favourite in the entire series. Intelligent Systems and Nintendo did well.

A portion of an EDGE review...

It’s a game where care and attention off the battlefield is as much a winning tactic as canny unit placement on it. Awakening is a richer, deeper game as a result.

A portion of an ONM review...

There's been no compromise on what a Fire Emblem game should feel like, rather an evolution - this is how all future Fire Emblem games should feel: difficult, engrossing, terrifying, compulsive and wonderful. And just a little bit like graph paper.

Fire Emblem: Awakening has a hairline fracture running right through it, and it shines so bright. There's even something you can do as a player to help make it whole, so that it brushes against perfection. Srsly; don't let characters die.
