Watch the intro to Call of Duty Black Ops 2's newest zombie mode, Mob of the Dead. Starring Michael Madsen, Ray Liotta, Joe Pantoliano and Chazz Palminteri.
We're almost positive that the "Mob of the Dead" mode included in next week's Black Ops 2 Uprising DLC pack is from a parallel universe. We're open to hearing alternate theories, obviously, but at the moment that's the most plausible explanation for a 1930s mafia/zombie-themed Call of Duty anything.
There's some footage of the new Black Ops 2 'Uprising' DLC lurking in this trailer, which sees actor J.B. Smoove join Peter Stormare to form 'The Replacers,' which to us sounds like a stand-in band resigned to a self-fulfilling prophecy. Oh yeah, the DLC; that's out April 16 on XBLM for 1200 MSP.
The $1 million prize purse is officially up for grabs starting today with the kick-off of the Call of Duty Championship series. The championship takes place over this weekend in Hollywood, CA, with aspiring millionaires (not after taxes!) throwing down in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
Thirty-two total teams will compete over the course of the weekend with the festivities being broadcast over Xbox Live, which is also sponsoring the event. Players can also watch the tournament via Xbox.com, through Call of Duty Elite, Twitch, Gamespot and the Call of Duty Facebook page. The final championship event is scheduled for Sunday, April 7, at 6pm ET.
Called Uprising, the pack will be released on Xbox Live on April 16th for 1200 Microsoft Points ($15) and offers four multiplayer maps along with a new Zombies story called Mob of the Dead.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is about to deal with an uprising. The next DLC pack for the shooter - dubbed 'Uprising' if you didn't catch it - lands on April 16 on the Xbox 360 and includes five maps and one new "zombie adventure."
New maps for the content pack include Magma, Encore, Vertigo, and Studio - all teased in the video above. "Uprising is the most fan-centric DLC package we've ever created," David Vonderhaar, game design director at Treyarch claims in the video.
Adding to that fan service is "a reimagining of the classic map Firing Range," and a new "zombie adventure" called 'Mob of the Dead.' In the new zombie story, players venture to Alcatraz and try to survive as a number of playable Hollywood badasses: Ray Liotta, Chazz Palminteri, Joey Pantoliano and Michael Madsen.
PlayStation 3 and PC players should expect the standard one-month wait time for their shot at the content, due to the timed-exclusivity agreement between Microsoft and Activision.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is arming its second DLC pack, titled 'Uprising,' for April 16, at least according to this supposed promo material. Posted on Twitter by a user claiming his friend found it at Best Buy, the card discloses an April 16 release date for the Uprising DLC, which according to it includes Vertigo, Encore, Studio, and Magma maps, along with a mode called 'Mob of the Dead.'
The posting follows the recent discovery of info in the Call of Duty website's source code that indicated the same content. As Call of Duty Online reports, the info detailed the same inclusions in a DLC pack with the same title, along with an Xbox Live theme. If the April 16 date is accurate, it likely only pertains to Xbox Live Marketplace; the traditional time difference between the Xbox 360 and PS3 and PC releases for the game is around 30 days.
Over the weekend, IGN's COD fan went to a school to figure out if he could outrun a bear. I'm not making this stuff up. Listen to his story, watch some COD.
Our next patch has been submitted to Nintendo. We are hoping for early next week. Patch notes will be updated once we have approvals in from Nintendo and the patch is ready to go live. I will not be giving information on what is included in the patch until that time.
Tomorrow, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be updated on Xbox 360 with the free Nuketown 2025 map, the option to download the Nuketown Zombies map, and ... some "Micro Items."
You'll now be able to pay 160 more Microsoft points ($2) to get ten more Create-a-Class slots for emblems, films, and screenshots. "Flags of the World Calling Card Packs" are available for 80 points ($1) per regional pack.
Finally, "Personalization Packs" let you customize your weapon, Calling Card, and reticle for 160 points ($2), with One of Swords showing the "Bacon personalization pack" above as a very weird example. It's like a free-to-play model, except you also pay a bunch for the game! At least this stuff is optional, and isn't consumable.
"And yes," One of Swords writer Dan Amrich notes, "these will be coming to other platforms as well; when I know a date, I'll post about it."
