- Nintendo partnered with Panasonic to create the activity meter
- testers wore a special mask to measure the tester's breaths in order to determine how much carbon dioxide is exhaled
- they also had to run on treadmills for a long time
- the Pokewalker was the base for the activity meter
- you can place two Fit Meters next to each other to compare activity levels
- you can't accurately measure calories burned for a dog, so a dog's activity units are called AniMETs

This is part of an IGN review for Wii Fit U...

Don't let Wii Fit U's cute, clean aesthetic fool you. When you turn it up a notch, Nintendo's fitness game will have you breathing hard. Some of the options seem superfluous, and the gym functionality is totally ignorable, but it's still a fun, effective way to get your sweat on.

This is part of a DTOID review for Wii Fit U...

Meanwhile Wii Fit U's mini-games are fun, but still suffer from being single-player/non-simultaneous multiplayer and there just isn't that much new stuff. If you're looking for something that will keep you motivated and get you moving, it could definitely work and the Fit Meter is an extra level of motivation, but if Wii Fit didn't do it before then I'm not sure it will work for you now. The good part is that the game is free until the end of the month so you can find out for yourself.

A portion of a Nintendo Life review...

The title features a number of activities that are all the more entertaining for this, and they quite simply couldn't have been done until now. It’s a shame that the community feature is so limited and that your Fit Meter data isn't used to greater effect, but these are relatively minor nuisances when you take into account that Wii Fit U really is just great fun to play.
