We've already talked about this, but now we have a nice graphic as confirmation.

Thanks to Alan for the heads up!

Coming from an ONM interview with Eiji Aonuma...

"Collecting rupees, the currency of the Zelda world, will be very important in this game. You might think that was the case with all the past games too, but I must say that this time it will be more important than ever and you will need to collect a great deal of them."

- the shop is run by a Nabbit lookalike
- the shop is a very important place, as it is different from past stores in the games

"Shops in the past Zelda games sold things that would run out once you use them like arrows and bombs, items that needed replenishing. They have never sold an item that doesn't go away after each use like the boomerang or the hookshot."

Here's the art that Nintendo put out today...

Obviously a bit different. Which version do you prefer?

- The overworld is not identical to LttP's
- Nintendo has acknowledged that hieroglyphic Link looks like the Link from Wind Waker's opening
- Runs at 60 FPS
- Link can merge into pretty much any wall
- The dungeon we keep seeing is a new version of the Tower of Hera from LttP
- The gauge on the left side gets rid of the need to restock items like arrows
- The wall Link ability runs on that gauge and will pop you out of the wall when it runs out

A Link Between Worlds

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is a new game with a new storyline set in world of the Super NES classic The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Features:

A daring adventure awaits Link in Hyrule, where he can use his new ability to become a “drawing” and move along walls of dungeons. This opens up ways to explore and puzzle elements that give Link access to locations he could not otherwise reach.

The game brings this top-down, 2D world to life with elevation and depth made possible by the Nintendo 3DS system’s stunning 3D visuals that reinvent classic Zelda game play at a constant 60 frames per second.

Using the touch screen, touch and drag the item from the items window and switch the item assigned to the X and/or Y buttons.

Looks like we have an official name for A Link to the Past II. Nintendo is now calling it The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.

Coming from the latest issue of EDGE...

“The game runs at 60FPS, while all the 3D games up till now have run at 30fps. The faster the framerate, the more stable the 3D effect, so 60FPS is a big deal.”

“Well, there are players who don’t like 3D and always keep it switched off, so there’s nothing in the game that absolutely requires 3D, like puzzles that can’t be solved without it.”

I'm sure that's good news for just about everyone! You don't have to use 3D if you don't want to, plus you get silky smooth 60 fps no matter what!

Well, isn't that a unique coincidence. You know what other game has 20 item slots like this? That would be The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past! Thanks to Hinph for the heads up.
