Deathstroke is one of the eight assassins sent to kill Batman in Batman: Arkham Origins, so he should be a formidable opponent. The problem is, he's a bit too tough, resulting in a pretty frustrating boss fight. Take a look at the video above for how to get through it.Read more...

This year, Christmas comes on October 25th when Batman: Arkham Origins launches on PS3. Just like the night before Christmas, the team at WB Games Montreal is staying up late, anxious and excited to see what the morning will bring. Over the last two years, this team has worked incredibly hard, giving much of their lives to ensure that we honor the name “Batman.”

We can’t wait to show off our boss fights. In particular, Bane and Deathstroke are going to test your limits in brutal contest. We think Copperhead will come out of Arkham Origins as one of the coolest interpretations of the character. And the team would be sadly disappointed for anyone who misses out on the Mad Hatter Most Wanted mission. Setting aside how beautiful the rest of the game looks, the art team went a little crazy there, and Peter MacNicol really knocks it out of the park as a very mad Hatter. All in all, there’s a massive playground for you to explore, and the team has made sure that there’s a reason to visit every corner of it.

Batman’s pain and anger will be channeled straight to the hairs on the back of your neck, thanks to Roger’s impeccable delivery. Troy’s Joker will make you cringe and gasp for all the right reasons. And Brian Bloom’s Black Mask? His vicious rage is palpable. Our cinematics and story team brought these performances to life with energy and emotion in every scene. This story is a roller coaster. You can almost hear the click, click, click, as it winds itself up — when it lets loose, you’re in for quite a ride.

We are at the end of a generation. This year has seen some incredible games come to PlayStation, and we’re excited to say…

Batman is coming.

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse

That’s because the developers of Batman: Arkham Origins are clearly using a joypad in this 17 minute walkthrough. Ahahahahahaa! Now the fun part of the story is out of the way, it’s time for me to get serious. I was hoping that this video of Arkham Origins would do me until the game is released this Friday, but there’s just one problem. I watched it and now all I can see about the bit 3m35s in, where Batman and Albert have a conversation in the Batcave. It was sneaky, punchy Batfun until that moment, but then Bats and Alfred started talking and it all just crumbled. It looks like someone attempted to reanimate a corpse and only succeeded in bringing the lips to life. It’s appalling.(more…)

Don your cape and cowl — the Batman Arkham series is readying its return, along with Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It’s a tremendous week of superheroes and cybernetics in this week’s Drop.

Lauded for its gritty visuals and stellar play, the Arkham games have garnered a huge following in the world of gaming. That tradition is sure to continue with Batman: Arkham Origins, a prequel to Rocksteady’s revolutionary first two games in the series. The latest Batman features the intense, single-player experience you’d expect from an Arkham game, but will also include a robust online suite for gamers to compete within.

But Batman isn’t the only dark hero making a comeback this week. Adam Jensen, with all his powerful augmentations, slinks back to PS3 in Deus Ex: Human Revolution — Director’s Cut. An enhanced version of the already well-loved original, the Director’s Cut includes The Missing Link DLC, as well as other improvements.

If those don’t strike your fancy and you’d rather catch up on some fan favorites, check out the two different 2K compilations — Essentials and Power Pack — which both feature a strong lineup of well-loved games.

For a complete list of games launching this week, read on, and enjoy the Drop!

Injustice dev NetherRealm released its free-to-play companion sidekick app for Batman: Arkham Origins, and it's available now as a free download on the App Store. The iOS brawler precedes the game proper coming to PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U next week.

I suited up for a brief go this morning on my iPhone 5, and the app looks to be a mobile adaptation of the combat, albeit in one-on-one scenarios. The controls are simple enough: You tap to punch, put three taps together quickly to pull of a combo, and hold two fingers down to block. There are QTE-like swipes that appear as you put together moves, and you can switch combat stances as you deal with successive goons. Progress along and you can upgrade Batman's skills and stances, as well as unlock Batsuits, some of which are exclusive to the mobile game.

The App Store blurb also notes "cross-platform unlocks" to tempt those planning to reunite with the Dark Knight next week. On that note, check out Arkham Origins' TV commercial after the break for some full-on, hardcore Bruce Wayne staring.
