This Call of Duty: Ghosts launch trailer features all of the explosions, wanton gunplay and caucasoid rappers you'd expect, but more importantly, it also gives the game's canine companion a moment in the sun - or that is, a tense few seconds of snarling down hungry wolves in the moonlit snow.

If your Destiny is to get into the beta for Bungie's upcoming shooter, you'll want to keep your eyes on the game's Twitter account this week [Update: and Facebook too].

Yesterday, the ex-Halo studio said it'll post beta codes randomly on each day of the coming week. The other route to the beta is a little less reliant on your ability to stare at social media: just pre-order the game.

The Destiny beta is scheduled for early 2014, and is coming to all of the game's platforms, namely PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360. The game itself is pinned to arrive in the spring.

North America and Europe welcome Warface on PC today, a big step for a game that is itself a big step for its developer, Crytek. Warface is the company's first free-to-play game, the first step in a planned journey that culminates in the Crysis and Ryse studio going fully free-to-play within five years.

At the recent DICE Europe conference, CEO Cevat Yerli spoke about closing the visual gap between cinema and games, and how Crytek is using advanced lighting and modeling effects to make Xbox One historical adventure Ryse stand out. Afterwards, I asked Yerli about the difficulties in marrying F2P with the studio's reputation for high-end graphics.

"It's just a matter of time," Yerli said. "We already introduced with Warfare a much higher quality relative to the current generation of gaming, and Ryse is [our] first game that launches a next-generation experience. Going forward, I expect free-to-play games to catch up with next-generation offerings as well. So it's really just a matter of time."

Stealthy murder is apparently big in the UK, as the Assassin's Creed games have combined to sell over 6.6 million units in the region.

"The Assassin's Creed franchise has already sold over 6.6 million units in the UK and over the past few years it has become a staple in gamers' diaries," said Ubisoft's UK brand manager Omebline Wallon, in an interview with MCV, before revealing why Ubisoft has chosen now to highlight its sales numbers. "Since we announced [Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag] in March, we have supported it at every beat of the campaign. We will be increasing our media presence as we near launch," added Wallon.

As Wallon mentioned, Ubisoft hopes to substantially increase that "6.6 million" sales figure with the release of Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, though more importantly, the company hopes that the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 iterations of Black Flag will prove especially lucrative. "This year the anticipation is high, especially with the game coming on PS4 and Xbox One," noted Wallon.

I'm not really sure what to make of this new next-gen Madden 25 footage, released by EA today. It looks OK, but this isn't exactly how I imagined "next-gen" gameplay would look. And it's not nearly as mind-blowing as next-gen NBA 2k14. Doesn't help that they're just focusing on linemen, and we can't actually see catching or throwing animations.Read more...

Gamestop's Black Friday circular has supposedly leaked its thick, viscous deal-goo all over the internet, exposing the retail chain's plans for the most excruciating shopping day of the year - just don't expect any deals on that new PlayStation 4/Xbox One hotness.

For everyone staying in this console generation, though, there's some cool stuff going on if you think leaving the house on Black Friday is worth it. You can have your choice of 250-gig PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 for $199.99, the former bundled with The Last of Us and Batman: Arkham Origins, and the latter bundled with Halo 4 and a download code for Tomb Raider. Meanwhile, a Gamestop-exclusive Azure Blue 250-gig PS3/Jak and Daxter Collection bundle can be had for $249.99.

For 360 owners, there's also a Gamestop-exclusive Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City boxed set, Dishonored and Splinter Cell: Blacklist at $24.99 each. PlayStation 3 owners can snag Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag for $40 and a year of PlayStation Plus for $29.99.

The chain is also running a buy-2-get-1 free promotion on all pre-owned items, provided the free thing you pick out is of equal or lesser value. Gamestop is also granting an additional 30-percent in-store credit on all trade-ins, though whether these two offers stack is unknown.

There's a lot of other stuff on sale, so while we check on the trade-in value of a human soul, click all up on this to check out the full 12-page circular for yourself.

Hey, y'all made this a multi-million unit selling franchise, so we don't wanna hear no guff that we're writing about a Zumba game. In short, Zumba World Party, originally scheduled for this month, will now launch in November. In North America, the game is scheduled for Xbox 360, Wii and Wii U for November 5. The Xbox One version will launch with the console on November 22. For Europe, November 22 is when it'll launch for Xbox 360, Wii and Wii U. An Xbox One version is still on the dance card, but no release date has been confirmed.

Publisher Majesco could really, really use a holiday hit here. The company's stock continues to trade under $1 and it halted quantitative guidance in March. The company currently has a deadline of February 2014 to keep its stock above $1 for ten days or face Nasdaq delisting. It could always do a reverse stock split like THQ to retain compliance. Boy, that's an awkward example.

Update: Incorporated North America details.

The Battlefield 4 beta served two purposes: It hyped up fans for the game's launch later this month by offering a small taste of what's to come in multiplayer and it gave EA crucial preliminary data for last-minute tweaks on the eve of release.

In a missive on the Battlefield blog, developer DICE has detailed some of the persistent issues from the beta: On PC, players encountered inconsistent frame rates, loading screen issues and spontaneously high CPU usage; on Xbox 360 and PS3, known problems included limited control schemes and empty servers populating throughout the server browser; and across all platforms, elevators were mysteriously catapulting players far off into the sky. While that last one sounds hilarious, it certainly wasn't intentional.

Some of the more granular changes to infantry and vehicles, for example, can be seen in the full patch notes over on the Battlefield blog. DICE assures all of the above issues, including more, are being worked on for Battlefield 4's launch on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 on October 29. Xbox One and PS4 versions of Battlefield 4 will be available alongside those consoles' respective launches.

Yesterday, Ubisoft announced delays for both Watch Dogs and The Crew, two games so highly anticipated that news of these delays prompted Ubisoft stock to shed more than 25 percent of its value.

As of now, Ubisoft stock is trading at $8.19 per share. That's a 26.15 percent dip from just yesterday when Ubisoft was valued as high as $11.10 per share. So far the stock has shown only minor signs of rebounding, though these have so far immediately been followed by further value loss.

Though the delays of Watch Dogs and The Crew are the comically gargantuan straws that shattered the camel's back, they are not the sole reason for Ubisoft's sudden financial woes. Rayman Legends and Splinter Cell: Blacklist, two games that Ubisoft expected to sell like gangbusters, failed to perform at retail.

"We have had games that were released for which we anticipate today lower sales than we anticipated when we gave our first targets," said Ubisoft CFO Alain Martinez during the firm's most recent investors' conference call. "Already released games such as, of course, Splinter Cell, Rayman, and others."

Hoping to tap into the "world's most popular sport" market, Microsoft has revealed plans for an upcoming, Xbox-based video series focused on the global popularity of street soccer.

The series, dubbed "Every Street United," comes courtesy of Mandalay Sports Media, a production company specializing in capturing the inherent drama of sport on film. Each of the series' eight episodes will spend half an hour focused on athletes from around the world. Details are still being nailed down, but Deadline describes the series' stated purpose as a quest to find "the greatest undiscovered local street soccer players." Despite this, Deadline claims that each episode will also feature a link to video games (though this is said to be relatively indirect).

This move should come as little surprise to anyone following Microsoft's nascent push into the world of filmed content. In September, corporate vice president Phil Spencer expressed great interest in bringing sports programming to the Xbox, claiming that Microsoft would be "expanding what we do in sports to bring more international sports into the mix."

There's currently no word on when or how Every Street United might debut, but it seems likely that Microsoft would want to use the lure of soccer to compel prospective customers toward picking up an Xbox One.

Ubisoft expects the The Crew to sell more than 2.5 million units, while Watch Dogs is still projected to exceed the 6.2 million first-year sales of the first Assassin's Creed.

In an investors' conference call, CFO Alain Martinez said Ubisoft is "still in line" with its Watch Dogs projections despite the publisher delaying the formerly next-gen launch title to spring 2014. In the case of The Crew, pushed back to mid-2014 at least, Martinez noted a "more limited potential" compared to Watch Dogs because it's a racer.

"We generally have spoken to about over two-and-a-half million units" said Martinez. "We'll see where we go and we believe that we have a nice potential for the future."

Ubisoft Reflections' open-world multiplayer racer was previously slated to arrive on Xbox One, PS4, and PC in the first calendar quarter of 2014 (January to March 2014). In Ubisoft's press release regarding both the Watch Dogs and The Crew delays, co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemot stated, "In a context of growing successes for mega-blockbusters, the additional time given to the development of our titles will allow them to fulfill their huge ambitions and thus offer players even more exceptional experiences."

When pressed on the Watch Dogs delay during the conference call, Guillemot said that Ubisoft was playtesting the game until the last minute before making the decision: "What we saw in the playtests is that we were very close to the quality we wanted but not exactly at the level, and we saw that with more time we could give it a far bigger potential. So we think it's the best way to take care of this brand, is to make sure it has everything ... it can supply to the customers who are expecting it."
