Unepic dev hints at next project

A portion of a Tripy73 interview with Unepic dev, Francisco Téllez de Meneses...

Tripy73 : Finally I would like to know your future projects. Any ideas for new games? If yes, on which platforms do you think they will be? Is the Wii U one that you may be considering?

Francisco Téllez de Meneses: At present I am finishing the multiplayer of Unepic and also making a special version of this one.

Blizzard did Warcraft and then created Starcraft... well I want to do the same: create a futuristic version more oriented to shooting rather than hitting with melee. This time graphics will be better.

The futuristic version of Unepic, as it will share the same engine, will be available for the same platforms as Unepic, including PC, WiiU, Linux, Mac and, if Unepic is ported to other platforms, then they will also be included.

I also have a completely different project - very experimental, where I will do a crowdfunding with kickstarter (to see if people like it and have the money to do it).

I still can't tell anyting about the subject because I'm still documenting and interviewing with people of the sector, but France is one of the top countries in the subject of the game-experiment.

I expect to create the crowdfunding January 2015, in a year.

The following comes from a RedBull interview with co-creator and WaterMelon Corp. company President Tulio Adriano Cardoso Gonçalves...

“On the Wii U you can either use the GamePad as a mirror screen for off-TV play, or as a fully-interactive second screen that will allow you to perform many operations related to your inventory, spells and other new functions new to Pier Solar HD.”

“We'd like to have supported more platforms at the launch, but we had to draw a line at certain point so that we didn't lose our focus. Still, there's a lot of demand for handhelds such as 3DS and PS Vita, so we'll assess those after the game is launched on the main platforms.”

Pier Solar HD is due to hit the Wii U sometime this April.

Aztez Is Going To Blow Up Your PS4 and Vita

Hi! I’m Ben Ruiz, the artist and combat designer at Team Colorblind in Arizona. I’m super excited to announced that Aztez, the brutal, bloody, expressive, difficult, and replayable action game I’ve been working on for two years now is coming to Sony’s magnificent, next-gen beast machines. For your own information, Team Colorblind is myself and also Matthew Wegner.

Xe599MJ.gif

“Brutal, bloody, expressive, difficult, and replayable?!” is probably what you’re thinking as your eyes widen in the dim glow of my audacity. But I sincerely believe that we are cooking up something you will like! At its core, Aztez is two games. One of those games is a full on real-time beat ‘em up combat experience. We’ve piped in the feel and creativity of Bayonetta, the sensationalism and mobility of Capcom’s Alien Vs Predator, and the precision difficulty of classic Devil May Cry. As the combat designer, I’ve been studying these types of games for years, and I refuse to produce and hand you something that won’t dangerously raise your heart rate and dopamine levels. I grew up in the arcade, and I want to do for you what the amazing developers of yore did for me with their coin-ops.

K5XSdIw.gif

The other game that comprises Aztez is an empire management strategy game, and that’s where the aforementioned replayability comes from. We decided early on that we didn’t want to make another beat ‘em up that forces you through a linear narrative and rote platforming segments, so we’ve created what we feel is an infinitely more interesting vehicle for thrilling combat; a randomized, historical Risk-like. Haha! It might be an overly unusual combination, but the way we see it, it can’t be any worse than grabbing more ledges or pushing around more blocks. And besides, if you do well in our strategy game, you might get to do some pretty profound history rewriting.

vehW0me.gif

But, ultimately, Aztez is about the combat, and we want to make our mark on this generation of Sony consoles with our own signature brand of digital power fantasy, and we want you to be able to do it in your home or on the move. Nothing makes the bus/taxi ride to work better than cutting down a hundred legendary warriors and offering their blood to the gods in real time.

That’s it for now! Tell me what you think about all this and I’ll answer back in the least ridiculous way I know how. Which is still sort of ridiculous. I MEAN WELL.

So, 31+ characters then? or maybe 20+ since he doesn't post on weekends.

Coming from Mr. Igarashi...

"I've decided to break out on my own to have the freedom to make the kind of games I really want to make — the same kind I think fans of my past games want as well. Leaving Konami was a big decision, and not one I took lightly — I've spent my entire career there, made many friends, and had a lot of great opportunities — but I hope all the gamers and fans who have supported me in the past will join me in being excited about what comes next. Wish me luck!"

Wot I Think: One Finger Death Punch

One Finger Death Punch seems like a self-explanatory title. If it brings to mind a game in which many tiny enemies are punched into pieces using a simple control scheme, then you have understood the intent of the title. The left mouse button punches to the left, the right mouse button punches to the right. Occasionally there are swords, bows and bombs. That’s about all there is to it, so why do I not want to stop playing? Here’s wot I think.
