Last year Sega gambled on global love of Japan's premiere virtual idol, releasing the Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F rhythm game in North America and Europe. That gamble must have paid off, because Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd is coming to the west later this year. I am so happy. Read more...

A portion of a CVG interview with Silicon Studio...

CVG: So far Bravely is a 3DS series. Do you like it best there or do you see it expanding in the future?

SS: We may expand in the future, but we don't have a clear plan yet. We're talking about that, maybe using other devices, but we don't have a clear plan.

CVG: Do you have a release window for Bravely Second?

SS: Square Enix will decide when, but we don't have a date yet. Of course the development timeline is decided, but that doesn't mean it will be released right after development.

Hey guys! This is Frank “Bo” deWindt II, director of production here at Aksys Games. Today we’re celebrating the release of the long-awaited BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma on PS3.

Everyone is ecstatic to get the chance to play the fighting portion of the game, but another great aspect of Chrono Phantasma is its visual novel inspired story mode.

Some small spoilers for those that haven’t played through BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger, Continuum Shift, and/or Continuum Shift Extend, yet…

After the events of BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, Ragna, Jin, Noel, and the rest of the cast find themselves in the Ikaruga Federation. There they meet Kagura Mutsuki, general of the N.O.L. and better known as the “Black Knight,” as well as Kokonoe. Both these characters have their own plans in store.

13390810973_4b8af4dc0f_n.jpg13390810413_2f91b1089c_n.jpg

At the same time, Hazama, Relius Clover, Phantom, and the Imperator are moving forward with their own agenda for the world at large. Saying anything further would be terribly spoiler-rific, so mum’s the word!

What I can say is the story mode is split into three paths: the main story, the Six Heroes story, and the Sector Seven story. These three stories will eventually converge and lead you to experience the true end. I’m pumped for everyone to experience the next chapter of the BlazBlue saga, so make sure to play through it.

On top of the fantastic story mode, Chrono Phantasma introduces 5 new playable characters: Amane Nishiki, Bullet, Azrael, Izayoi, and Kagura Mutsuki, as well as the two DLC characters, Yuuki Terumi and Kokonoe. There’s so many characters to choose from now, even I’m still trying to decide on my favorites.

Like the rest of the cast, you can play as these characters via Arcade Mode, Versus Mode, Online, and even learn and refine your fighting prowess with each character via the Tutorial, Training, and Challenge modes.

Also included in Chrono Phantasma is the beginner-friendly Stylish Mode, which allows users to perform flashy moves without the need for specific inputs. Chrono Phantasma also introduces the new mechanic “Overdrive,” which temporarily enhances each character’s unique ability. Make sure to use it strategically during battle.

Another topic on the agenda is that starting today, those who’d like the digital version of BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma can pre-order it on PlayStation Store. It will launch on April 1st and will come bundled with the Kokonoe character DLC for free.

And if that isn’t enough to satiate your azure appetites, a slew of delightful DLC will also be launching on April 1st. The feels! I can’t hold them all!

So much BlazBlue goodness to be had. I hope everyone enjoys playing (especially the story mode) when BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma hits stores today.

So much for wishful thinking. Nintendo has confirmed that the release date for Mario Kart 8 remains unchanged, so we're stuck waiting until May 30th. Man, that is so far off, but I guess I'll go back to playing Mario Kart 64 to pass the time!

Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls expands the infernal dungeon crawler for the first time in two years with new story content today, but even with substantial changes in place Blizzard is already discussing how future patches alter the way Diablo plays. Diablo 3 version 2.1 will bring requested systems including Seasons, a take on Diablo 2's Ladders, and tiered Rifts.

"We're still working on them but the general gist is that you'll level up a new character, we'll have specific ladders for Seasons, and also some goodies that will drop along the way," said Josh Mosqueira, Diablo 3 game director, as reprinted by Diablo Fans. For those unfamiliar with ladders in Diablo, they describe how specific characters in Diablo 2 were ranked in a given realm. Only ladder characters are ranked. Seasons will, in effect, introduce a similar competitive layer to the game. Tiered Rifts, meanwhile, pull players into a series of increasingly difficult Rifts where they clamber for better and better loot.

"There is another major feature in the patch 2.1, which is going to be what we're internally calling tiered Rifts. The idea is a challenge scenario, where players do increasingly hard Rifts to see who can get the farthest," explained Mosquiera. "You do your bounties, you do a Nephalem Rift. If you clear it, there's a chance to get a Greater Rift Token. If you successfully do that, you'll get a Greater Rift Key (rank 2), then Rank 3, etc. Much like seasons, we're going to have a leaderboard as well, so you can see who got to the highest tier Rift, and what time were they able to obtain on that."

The winning player walks away with an ultimate gaming package while the coach is playing to win a $5,000 donation awarded to their charity of choice. The competition is restarted each day for a total of three individual grand prize winners and $15,000 in charity donations.

Gamers will try their hand at games including some of Ubisoft’s most popular titles, The Crew and Trials Fusion, as well as a mystery title in the final round of competition. Gamers unable to make it to the show can watch from home at twitch.tv/TheNextLevel.

Double Fine can’t stop announcing games. They refuse. Tim Schafer and co have so many dollops of digital glee in the oven, in fact, that you might have entirely forgotten about Hack ‘N’ Slash. It is not, as you might expect, a game about hacking and slashing or even gently bopping on the head in a way that implies mild disapproval. Rather, the entire world – the entire game – is hackable. It might look like The Legend of Zelda (that’s intentional), but it plays like… well, pretty much nothing I’ve ever seen. You wield a giant USB stick that lets you dig around in the code of enemies and objects in the game world. And it’s *real* code. You can and probably will crash the entire game, though save state trickery keeps that from ruining the whole experience. Honestly, it’s a bit tough to wrap your mind around at times. Go below for an explanation and demo from lead designer Brandon Dillon.
