Coming from producer Hideki Konno...

"We're working with HD for the first time, and we really wanted to take advantage of that. The last console version was Mario Kart Wii, which was released in 2008, so it was about six years ago. And during those six years, we were able to incorporate a lot of technology in our development process, but especially on the graphics side. So we put a lot of effort into making this a good looking game--it's a very pretty game.

This time with the power of the Wii U we really made an effort to keep that graphic quality high regardless of how many ways we were splitting the TV into. We've also been able to show movement on the [karts and bikes] that we haven't seen before. We're seeing bounding, we're seeing different parts of the kart move, we're seeing dirt on the tires, we're seeing skidmarks left on the course--again I think we've done a good job of utilizing that graphical power.

Using the power of the Wii U, we were able to create a Mario Kart title that feels right, and the controls feel like they're perfect for this game."

Amy Hennig is the new creative director on Visceral Games' upcoming Star Wars title.

Amy Hennig has found a new home.

The former creative director and lead writer on Naughty Dog's Uncharted series has landed at EA's Visceral Games. She will once again assume the role of creative director, this time on the studio's upcoming Star Wars project.

"As both a colleague and friend, I’ve always admired [Hennig's] approach to creative development," said Visceral studio head Steve Papoutsis in a statement posted on EA's website. "Focusing on nailing down the soul of a game first, and then making sure the writing, the gameplay, the design and the art comes together to form a unified, interactive experience for the player. This fits in perfectly with what we’re trying to do here at Visceral and Amy’s going to help us continue in our pursuit to make the most thrilling, immersive games in the world."

This is actually a return to EA for Hennig. She once worked for the publisher as an artist and animator in the early '90s, before she eventually moved on to the jobs at Crystal Dynamics and Naughty Dog that would define her career.

Little is known regarding Visceral's Star Wars project. The studio will be developing it alongside multiple other games, which will come from DICE and BioWare, and though they're planned for release in the vicinity of the upcoming JJ Abrams-directed movie sequels, EA has repeatedly said that these new games won't be movie tie-ins.

Hennig has taken to Twitter today to talk about both her excitement to be "home" at EA, and the prospect on working on a franchise that heavily influenced her.

I began my career @EA almost a quarter century ago (I have the 1991 Rising Star award from @realtriphawkins to prove it - ha! ;) ...

— Amy Hennig (@amy_hennig) April 3, 2014

... It might've taken me 23 years, but I'm back - and it's good to be home @EA !

— Amy Hennig (@amy_hennig) April 3, 2014

It's a privilege to have the opportunity to contribute to the Star Wars universe, after it's had such a formative influence on my life.

The following comes from voice actor Reuben Langdon in an interview with GameVoices...

GV: Is there a game franchise you'd particularly like to appear in?

RL: Let me think about that. Well the Metal Gear series is always coming in and out of my ‘field’. We have put bids out on it a couple of times. Raiden was always a character that I had wanted to play. I did end up playing him on Super Smash Bros; so I did end up playing him eventually. NOT to the extent that he is in the other games.

______________
Man, is that one hell of a leak if true. We'll try to get some confirmation on it, but I doubt anyone at Nintendo would talk.

At times I just want to list off a series of descriptions for a game, because I don’t think there’s a better way to sell it. Tentacles: Enter the Mind is about being the horrible black beasty you see above invading the brain of a scientist. A scientist who’s obsession with cute has driven him mad. Also, his head is a dolphin. While within, and I quote directly from the developers Press Play, you will “explore [his] libido” and eat the eyes of the beings now living in his brain. His dolphin brain. Based on that screenshot, you’ll even get to wear cute hats! If you’re not excited, I just don’t know how to make you happy any more, but maybe this trailer will do it.
