While Chubbins has been a finished game since spring '13, porting the game to Wii U has given us the opportunity to add some new features and make a number of improvements that make for a generally more solid experience. Read on to see what they are and why we're making them!

Addition of Time Attack Mode

As one might expect, Time Attack mode will allow the player to tackle levels individually as they are unlocked by playing through the worlds normally, with the eventual unlocking of a Boss Rush. In addition to setting individual level records, this will also serve as a good way to practice specific levels for achieving better times in standard Modes.

Renaming of 'Casual' and 'Classic' Modes to 'Soft' and 'Hard'

Originally Chubbins released with only the 'Classic' Mode of play, but a short while later we updated with 'Casual' that included numerous checkpoints throughout the levels to decrease difficulty and increase its pick-up-and-play value, among other tweaks. With the renaming of these Modes, 'Hard' will remain true to the original 'Classic' while 'Soft' will feature new aids for beginner players, including visible paths for moving platforms and player tips provided throughout World 1.

Miscellaneous Features

We're making a number of minor improvements here and about, such as increasing the max time counter from 1 to 2 hours for those who found the game especially difficult. A couple of levels have also received very minor edits to decrease potential confusion. And naturally, such an update also squashes a few bugs and makes a couple of visual upgrades.

While the Wii U version will be launching with these enhancements, they will also be included in a v2.0 update for the iOS version, releasing at or around the same time. These changes include most everything we had in mind to eventually update the game with, making for a rather "definitive" version of Chubbins, so we're excited to get it out there!

Of course, this is all just speculation based on recent Amazon changes. Certainly looks like Amazon thinks the game is going to release late April. Wouldn't it be a lovely surprise to see the game available earlier than expected?

Sony's first handheld gaming system has been replaced by a younger, shinier model. But it's still a good gaming system, cheaper than ever and offering plenty of great games. Maybe you've waited this whole time to get one, or maybe you've inherited one from a friend who bought a new Vita. Either way, now you need some games to cement your relationship.Read more...

Human Element, the first-personal survival game from Robert Bowling's studio, Robotoki, will launch in November 2015 on PC, Bowling confirmed on Twitter. He added that the Ouya-bound prequel to the game was canceled "early on" as the developer shifted its focus to the CryEngine-based PS4 and Xbox One versions of the open-world game, which don't currently have a release date.

Bowling left Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward in April 2012 to open Robotoki and announced Human Element in June 2012. The Ouya prequel was revealed soon after in July, at which point Bowling donated $10,000 to the microconsole manufacturer. The Human Element prequel was also slated to be the first console exclusive game for Ouya. [Image: Robotoki]

When Rollercoaster Tycoon 4 makes its PC debut, the game will be a far cry from its mobile incarnation, according to Atari. "We can't share that much, but [PC] will definitely be a completely different game," said Anthony Chien, Atari senior director of marketing, in a Digital Spy interview.

Chien's statement follows last week's debut of the above trailer which serves as the first look at Roller Coaster Tycoon 4 Mobile. This footage immediately drew criticism from fans due to the game's apparent reliance on free-to-play gimmicks. Despite this negative backlash, Atari is moving forward with plans to release the mobile game prior to its PC counterpart.

"There's a lot of diehard [Rollercoaster Tycoon] fans that want a PC experience, they want all different sorts of things," Chien stated. "[We're] trying to deliver as much as we can. First is the mobile version, then it's the PC experience. I think a lot of people are vocal about wanting to see the PC version first before the mobile, but our strategy is mobile first."

Each Monday, Chris Livingston visits an early access game and reports back with stories about whatever he finds inside. This week, exploring a planet in the appropriately named Planet Explorers.

The title of the game is direct, to be sure. In Planet Explorers, a planet exploration game by Pathea Games, there is a planet, and you explore it. If that doesn’t sound like enough, there’s also resource gathering, crafting, building, and tons of alien creatures to discover, by which I mean “slaughter and turn into money.” Get ready, innocent alien planet! Humans have arrived, and we’ve brought hunting, real estate development, and capitalism.

Believe it or not, Nintendo is not going to have any kind of presence at PAX East this year. This is the first time that Nintendo isn't putting together a booth for the event. While third parties/indie devs will be on-hand at their respective booths showing off Nintendo projects, the Big N won't have an official space at the show.
