- battles rely on a Grandia II-esque race meter at the bottom of the screen
- this will reward well-timed attacks with staggered enemies
- it also punishes your mistakes with your own characters losing their turns
- boss battles included
- battles require you to pay attention to elemental affinity, party member abilities and your gear as well
- the main character is Aurora, a young girl
- when she swings her massive sword in battle, she has to heave into it with her entire body
- when she gets hit by a heavy attack, she loses her crown and quickly crawls after it to get it back
- backgrounds are filled with moving elements during battle
- story is told through spoken narration and written dialogue
- all of this is written in iambic pentameter
- Aurora is taken away from the real world and forced to journey back to her home
- party members include jesters abandoned by their circus and manic dwarves trying to rectify an avian curse
- Aurora has the ability to fly
- you'll stumble upon floating sonnets that provide human introspection
- gems can be equipped for stat upgrades, or combined to create even stronger jewels
- battle system gives you experience points at steady intervals in order to move further along the skill tree
