Can Activision capture the same magic that Nintendo and Rare did two generations ago?

Yesterday we posted up a video feature that seemed to indicate the inclusion of multiplayer bots. A lot of us were left scratching our heads, because we hadn’t heard this information from anywhere else. Unfortunately, it turns out that the information was incorrect. An inside source with a final copy of the [...]

There's nothing quite like witnessing the likes of Baron Samedi and Francisco Scaramanga -- fully digitally rendered from forthcoming game Goldeneye 007 -- before being riddled with PP7 bullets. But that's just what Activision has sent over: beautiful artist renditions of Bond's worst enemies, before their inevitable demises.

Everyone remembers that insane amounts of fun that you can have with Proximity Mines in GoldenEye, right? Well they’re definitely back, and Activision is promoting the game by letting you place mines all over your favorite websites. Then you can link your friends into those sites and have them try to hunt down [...]

Our favorite part of Goldeneye 007 -- the movie and N64 game -- was when James Bond, tired of his usual stealthy modus operandi, hopped into a tank and just went to town on St. Petersburg. In the video below, we get a look at this (somewhat more explosive) sequence in the game's spiritual Wiimake.

Back in our day, the mo-cap process for GoldenEye 007 required a single shot of a dude chopping his hand in a 90 degree arc. Apparently, the remake requires a bit more work than that. Get to know the new Bond's stuntman in the developer's diary posted just below.

Some tidbits in English: - 9.000 takes for 62 hours of animation, 1/3 ended up in the game - Daniel Craig is face and voice for James Bond 007, while Ben Cooke (his usual stunt double) made the stunts work. Kirsty Mitchell as Natalia Simonova, Kate Magowan as Xenia Onatopp, Elliot Cowan as Alec Trevelyan and [...]

An ostentatious Classic Controller Pro isn't the only bonus you'll get for picking up Goldeneye 007's "Classic Edition" bundle. You'll also get immediate access to the "Classic Conflict" multiplayer mode, in which players will pick from eight classic characters (Jaws, Oddjob, Baron Samedi, Dr. No, Scaramanga, Red Grant, Rosa Klebb and Blofeld), respawning as a different character after each death.

Non-Classic Edition buyers will get to play Classic Conflict as well, but they'll have to wait until they reach level 35 in online multiplayer to unlock it. And why spend all that time playing the game you bought, when you can just pay more to avoid that nuisance?
