You know what they say—the only winning move is not to play. Luigi takes that advice to heart: last year, we showed you a video of Luigi doing nothing in Mario Party 9 against computer opponents and winning. This time, OmegaTyrant4792 brings us footage of what happens when Luigi does nothing against level 9 AI in Super Smash Bros Melee. Ridiculous, right? Every single character! Every single one! And if that's not enough, here's a 4-player match with 3 AI. Same thing happens. Luigi, you bastard. In way, it makes sense: what can the AI react to if you do nothing? While I'm keen on testing this out myself, we've also got the Mario Party 9 footage that makes inaction seem like a plausible winning strategy against AI. Mario may get the spotlight, but Luigi is clearly the clever brother. Luigi wins against every level nine CPU by doing absolutely nothing [OmegaTyrant4792] Luigi wins against a team of level nine CPUs by doing absolutely nothing [OmegaTyrant4792]

#supersmashbros Here's ReallyFreakinClever with an earnest video about the merits of Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. You may not agree with all of it; I didn't. But I think he's on-point when he lauds the accessibility of the franchise, particularly when compared to the fighting game genre as a whole (though that's improving nowadays). More »

I enjoy a good game of smash. I think (overall) the game is well done and I have the most fun playing it out of most fighting games, even in a non-competitive spirit. Marth is the man.

This is actually a really good video. Thanks a lot for ruining it by posting it, Kotaku.

#watchthis Ok, fine. So the novel by Chuck Palahniuk came out several years before Super Smash Bros. was released in Japan. But the video game came out almost a full year before the movie did, so...Science! More »

It's been a long wait, but now you can finally get your hands on the Super Smash Bros. demake that caught our collective eye back in February. Super Smash Land is currently available for download over on PikiGeek.

A labor of love from Dan Fornace, Super Smash Land features eleven different stages and six brawlers (including Mega Man!), a classic Arcade mode, multiplayer for up to four people and a Polygon Team-style Endless Mode. Heck, there are even online leaderboards!

... What are you waiting for? This is the full game. Go play it!

Megaman Volnutt(think megaman legends) would be the only capcom character I would see fitting for a smash bros game, since he fits the most into the nintendo esque universe. The other megamans have too loose of a plot line to really fit into smash bros, which when you look at it goes alot deeper inot back stories then you would think. It shows their home worlds, you get trophies telling about them, you hear the music from their games, and you see then and all their main attacks.

"Iwata summed it the basic idea nicely: players would spend time on the 3DS version, building up their character and collecting stuff, then show off their skills on the Wii U version.

Sakurai noted that as the Wii U is an HD system, this version could offer 60 frames per second visuals, high quality graphics, dynamic effects, and smooth character movements.

While it is important to have both versions of the game be enjoyable on their own, Sakurai feels that connectivity between the two versions will make the experience even more enjoyable.

Closing off the little section offering vague hints about the new Smash Bros. games, Sakurai said that his aim with the 3DS version is to offer players a slightly different experience from conventional Smash Bros. games. He believes that there is merit in having skilled and unskilled players play together, so one emphasis will be on elements of players helping one-another."

IGN's Nintendo sites have some of the greatest fans I have ever seen. Whether it's contributing original art or passionately arguing points in the Nintendo Voice Chat podcast inbox, you are without a doubt the biggest perk of this job. Recently I put out a call to bring the community closer to our editorial team, including spotlights on blogs and the possibility of being published on the site...

Looks like Ness had a move in the original Smash Bros. game that he never got to use! It’s amazing how stuff like this is still being unearthed.
