Nintendo just announced that it was developing a new Zelda game for the 3ds. In Japanese, the game is being called The Legend of Zelda: Kamigami no Triforce 2. You probably remember the first Kamigami no Triforce game's English title, A Link to the Past. The game will feature a new storyline, new puzzles, and new dungeons. Link will also have the ability to turn into a drawing on the wall to make his way around corners. The game will be out this holiday season in the West, and it will be out in early 2014 for Japan. According to Nintendo's US branch, it is "set in the world of A Link to the Past." It currently does not have an English language title.

Who needs Link and Zelda and Mario and Luigi when you've got this gorgeous little critter right here? That's a new Pikmin for Pikmin 3, introduced today during the 3DS-centric Nintendo Direct. Iwata says it's called the Flying Pikmin, because obvious. I call it potential tattoo flash.

Today, the Pokémon Twitter account delivered a heartwarming anti-college message as its April Fools joke, highlighting a fake course schedule for a Pokémon Mastery degree, with a link to a page saying that "Every Pokémon Trainer knows that the road to becoming a Pokémon Master cannot be duplicated in the classroom. There's just no substitute for personal adventures, Gym battles, and friendship."

It's only in the fantasy world of Pokémon that leaving home and wandering the woods from town to town at age 10 - basically becoming a tween drifter - is a sensible career move. Stay in school, kids! And drink your milk.

Yesterday's BitSummit indie developer event in Kyoto proved its importance when Cave Story creator Daisuke Amaya unveiled his new game, Gero Blaster, an iPhone run-and-gun about a bipedal frog named Kaeru ("Frog") trying to save his cat girlfriend.

It's due for iOS release in May; however, Nicalis producer Tyrone Rodriguez, who has worked with Pixel on various versions of Cave Story, Ikachan, and more, brandished a 3DS running Gero Blaster, posting a picture on Twitter as proof. There are no details about the 3DS plans yet, or any for other platforms, but the existence of the prototype is heartening.

When last we saw our valiant Joystiq staffers, they were discussing the latest video games in a live episode of the Super Joystiq Podcast. Together, the merry band discussed Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien, SimCity and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 - Mirror of Fate. Even though SimCity has the shortest title, we're going to bet it has the longest discussion.

As if that wasn't enough, we're giving away an Xbox 360 copy of Tomb Raider and its special edition controller. If you'd like to win, just subscribe to our YouTube channel and send us a private message with "Tomb Raider" in the subject, and be sure to include your name and email address.

"Project Happiness," the enchantingly adorable shopkeeper simulation by Harvest Moon creator Yasuhiro Wada, now has an official title: Hometown Story. The "story" in the title is meant to show the game's emphasis on meeting and learning about new townspeople by growing your shop, over simply conducting business for its own sake.

The character designs, by Atsuko Nishida, have simplified since the prototype footage, showing a game that looks more like it's running on a 3DS. And it's still really, really, really heartwarmingly cute. It's due this year; Natsume has said it's coming to 3DS and mobile.
