Officially, there are 718 known Pokémon...unless you count the three mysterious Pokemon found in X & Y's code, that is. While we reported the existence of unannounced Pokémon back in November of last year, it wasn't until last night that we started hearing details about what the deal with these Pokémon is.Read more...

Sonic's celebrating more than 20 years as a video game icon. So it makes sense that Sega's giving their furry blue mascot a bit of a facelift—nothing drastic, mind you—along with a new game and TV show in the hopes of keeping the hedgehog moving at top speed.Read more...

The PlayStation people are always going on about indie games. The Xbox people talk them up, too. Nintendo's been quieter about supporting indie games, but that appears to be changing. A whole bunch of indie games are coming to Wii U and 3DS, and pretty soon at that.Read more...

Nintendo's fighting on two fronts. The first, very real battleground they're waging war on is in retail, where their Wii U home console is struggling to build a user base. The second area of struggle has been in the hearts and minds of observers trying to decide how much faith to put into the company's foresight. The House of Mario offered one possible answer to both conundrums: whether handheld or home console, all their hardware's going to operate under a unified vision, much like the family of Apple products.Read more...

Here's 21-year-old illustrator Piper Thibodeau's rather cartoony reimagination of the Kanto starter Pokémon. Compared to Charmander in the third picture, Squirtle and Bulbasaur both look so grumpy and bored, you might consider not using them in battle at all.Read more...

The sub-boss battle music from Bravely Default: Flying Fairy is some of the most hilariously over-the-top JRPG battle music I've ever heard. From 1:50 to the loop-around, it's... it's like composer Revo built a giant robot out of DragonForce members, gave it a Red Bull and told it to perform three lead guitar parts at once. (Not complaining.)Read more...

Not all Pokémon are made equal—one Magikarp may kick way more butt than other Magikarp, even if they're the exact same level. That's because every Pokémon has hidden stats called "IVs" attached to things like their "attack" and "speed"—and there's a way to tell what these values are in-game.Read more...
