Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light has been generally recognized as a great downloadable game that should be played by as many people as possible, which is why we're confused about its launch on the BlackBerry PlayBook. Get it? Because no one owns a PlayBook.
That's not true, we realize, but all is fair in love and bad comedy. Already a few happy PlayBookers and/or RIM and Square Enix employees have left gushing reviews on Guardian of Light's App World page, suggesting it's a solid experience even two years out and even on PlayBook. Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is available now for $3.99 via the BlackBerry App World.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution, one of the best games of 2011, is on super sale this week through Amazon's digital distribution service for PC. The Standard Edition of the cyber stealth thriller is $6.99, while the Augmented Edition, which includes art book and soundtrack, is a dollar more for $7.99.
Also on discount is Dungeon Siege 3, which has reviews that start in the 80s and go south from there (we thought it was good), but for $5 it's not a heavy investment to try out for yourself.
PC players who are interested in further discounts should check out Amazon's new "Weekly Deal Vote." PC titles were recently added and the hive mind decides what game will drop to $5 next week.
Raziel has been to many strange and wonderful places, but until now, he's never been to Good Old Games. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver is now available on the service for a paltry $6. Soul Reaver tells the tale of a betrayed vampire-turned-revenant, Raziel, and his vengeance against those who wronged him.
It also sports a top-notch voice cast and, hey, it's fun to play. If you missed it the first time around (or if you feel like reliving it again), it's definitely worth checking out.
The bald and bar-coded Agent 47 isn't the only character in Hitman: Absolution, you know. The latest trailers introduce us to Benjamin Travis and Jade - members of 47's employer, "The Agency" - and the actors who play them.

The pseudo-sequel to True Crime: New York City, Hong Kong-based Sleeping Dogs, will launch at retail on August 14. Publisher Square Enix announced the game's launch date this morning alongside news of three separate pre-order bonuses tied to three separate retailers: Best Buy, GameStop, and Amazon.
Should you choose to go the brick-and-mortar route, Best Buy is offering the "Georges St. Pierre Pack," which features a trio of GSP-related gear and moves (his "signature flying punch," for instance). GameStop is similarly offering a slew of in-game content, dubbed the "Police Protection Pack. As you might imagine, it comes with a variety of police officer-themed gear. Finally, Amazon has the "Martial Arts Pack," which ... well ... you get it at this point, right? For full listings of all the gear, head past the break.
Oh, and if you're a PC gamer wondering what your fancy pre-order bonus is, know that Square Enix hasn't forgotten about you: "Exclusive content for the digitally downloadable PC version of Sleeping Dogs will be announced at a later date," the press release reads.

Oh well, no toy guns for us! Said DLC, the "Agency Gun Pack," comprises a Jagd P22G pistol, a UMP SMG and an SPS 12 semi-automatic shotgun.
The Professional Edition, announced for Europe today, also includes an art book, a making-of DVD, and a fancy clamshell box. We're due to get some kind of special edition in North America as well, but details haven't been announced yet.
Update: the North American release will have the same "Professional Edition." In addition, Square Enix announced retail-exclusive bonuses for Amazon (the "Bartoli Custom Pistol"), Best Buy (the "Bronson 1928M SMG"), GameStop (the "Agency Kazo TRG" sniper rifle), and Walmart (the "Krugermeier 2-2 Pistol").
Square Enix has enlisted the help of UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre (aka GSP), who will now be contributing his expertise on punching/grappling dudes to Sleeping Dogs. While GSP is said to be working on "multiple elements" of the Hong Kongian crime thriller, we have an inkling that he'll be lending the majority of his vast, worldly knowledge to the game's combat systems.
Actually, now that we've remembered how huge his bulging muscles are and how easily he could grind our puny frames into a fine mist, we suppose its entirely possible that GSP could be consulting on the game's art direction, or acting as a continuity editor for the script. In fact, forget we ever implied anything to the contrary.

Square Enix is moving away from the paltry world of dimension-based reveals, announcing actor John De Lancie as one of Quantum Conundrum's main actors. De Lancie is, of course, known for his part as "Q" in the James Bond series, aiding Bond in his interstellar travels of exploration and diplomacy. Or he was a popular Star Trek character -- one of the two.
Anyway, De Lancie is playing the part of Professor Fitz Quadrangle, advising the main character on gameplay and ushering story points forward (he is, after all, stuck in an alternate dimension, anxiously awaiting your help). De Lancie details his role and offers a taste of his voice work in the latest teaser, seen above.

Last week Square Enix's mystery title was outed as Crystal Conquest, a Flash-based action title for Japanese consumption, set to launch this summer. Details are now sidling out, as noted by 4gamer and translated by Andriasang:
Crystal Conquest is a side-scroller with characters shifting between two planes of play, it uses mouse controls only, and it has four classes: Warrior, Scout, Priest and Sorcerer. The goal is to destroy the enemy's home base before time runs out or the enemy destroys yours. At the end of the match, damage and enemies killed are added up and the winner crowned. The battle edifices are called Arrow Tower, Crystals and Summons Facilities, and the title will include classic Square Enix summons functions.
