#thelegendofzelda It's been a long time since Shigeru Miyamoto's directly worked on a Legend of Zelda game. 1991, to be exact. That's the year that the classic A Link to the Past hit the SNES. Now, recent remarks from Nintendo's creative leader make it sound like he'd be up for revisiting that chapter of Link's video game life. More »

Ah, the changes that games go through from conception to final release. The Legend of Zelda is no exception. If you'd like to see some of the things that changed while the game was in development, hit up the feature below.

#zelda I found Tevis Thomson's lengthy critique chronicling the decline and fall of the Legend of Zelda franchise to be very convincing. That doesn't quite diminish my enjoyment of more recent Zelda games, but then, I'm no Zelda super-fan. But it was hard to argue with his points about how the series has changed and in his eyes gone astray. More »

#zelda Late in the original Zelda's second quest, I got stuck. I couldn't find the relocated and very well-hidden eighth dungeon. Then one night I had a dream in which I took a map of Hyrule and drew large circles around the other seven dungeons. Somehow I had figured that dungeons were probably not right beside each other, and so by sectioning off portions of the map, I could better find the missing dungeon in the blank areas. I woke up, drew the circles, found the dungeon. Zelda possessed me, and in those pre-internet, pre-FAQ days, my mind worked on it even while I slept. More »

#zelda So Nintendo has, more or less, settled on some semblance of an official timeline for the Legend of Zelda series. You may have thoughts/concerns about this. You also probably don't have as many as reader Zach does, though. More »

#soulcalibur Hey, look! It's Link—who starred in the GameCube version of SoulCalibur II—making a triumphant return to the Stage of History along with that girl he's always having to rescue. The folks at NowGamer made crafted Nintendo's iconic maiden-and-warrior pair with the character creator in Namco's just-released fighting game, and then have Princess Zelda and her eternal savior Link go toe-to-toe. Zelda's based off of new character Viola and Link is patterned after the game's cover boy Patroklos. The fight's even for a while but Zelda handily kicks Link's ass. There's only one thing to say about that: "Well, excuuuuse me, Princess!" More »

Considering the onslaught of Zelda-related content we received in 2011 thanks to the franchises 25th anniversary, it's likely Nintendo will lay low on the Zelda front in 2012. We may, if we're lucky, see a global release for that gorgeous piece of Zelda lore called Hyrule Historia (the source of all the recent Zelda timeline news we've all been buzzing over). Otherwise, expect it to be a much slower year for the land of Hyrule... sort of...
