A portion of an ONM review...

A fantastic start to the Wii U's more mature library, this is grim, gritty and, most importantly, hugely enjoyable to play, especially if you're a Zelda fan.

A portion of a Vooks review...

Darksiders II is a fantastic launch title for the Wii U – it uses all of the features of the GamePad appropriately (at least, within the scope of the game itself) and is a substantial adventure with roots in one of our favourite Nintendo franchises, Zelda.

And so another Wii U launch title arrives that doesn't quite hold its own against the existing PS3 and 360 versions. After the fairly impressive work done on the Wii U port of Assassin's Creed 3, we can't help but feel a little disappointed with Vigil Games' efforts here. The removal of light shafts and environmental detail doesn't overly harm the game considering that the core artwork is a close match in other areas, but the sharp drops in performance are hard to ignore when the low frame-rate has a noticeable impact on the feel of the controls, making them heavier and less responsive.

This comes from a NintendoWorldReport review for Darksiders II...

Despite these problems, Darksiders II is an excellent, lovingly crafted game I wholeheartedly recommend, especially if you liked the first. From a production value perspective, it's at the top of its class, and my problems with the game are largely personal preference quibbles. Just like the first, Darksiders II is the Zelda game we never got.

THQ, if you didn’t know (hint: you did), is in some rather deep water. Not only has it opted to delay a whole mess of games in the wake of Darksiders II’s not-quite-megaton splash, it’s also in a teensy bit of debt. By which I of course mean $50 million - using “teensy bit” as a term relative to all the money ever printed in the whole of human history. But things may not be quite as dire as they seem. Sure, another high-level exec – this time CFO Paul Pucino – has decided to skedaddle, but apparently someone with a fair deal of monetary sway might very well have THQ’s rapidly breaking back.

Just to be clear, there has been no official confirmation on this coming to Wii U at this time.

The Abyssal Forge is a living machine designed to harness the unfocussed dark power of the Abyss and create the most powerful legendary weapons. The Maker who built this abomination, known only as the Mad Smith, was shunned by his own people and sealed away in the Shadow Lands with his creation. However, the forge hasn’t remained dormant all those years of captivity; it has constructed a vast army and now threatens all creation.

The vast swamp-like Shadow Lands, added by this DLC is a new gameplay zone with an entirely new visual look, including two challenging new dungeons, new enemies to best, secrets to uncover and unique legendary loot to collect. Tailored towards the most competent Darksiders II players, the Abyssal Forge will test your mettle against the hardest enemies and puzzles yet.

Darksiders 2 downloadable content continues to roll out, but series creative director Joe Madureira is leaving Vigil Games, the renowned comic artist announced on Facebook today.

“I'm afraid the time has come for me to move on to new adventures,” he said. “I could not be more proud of what we achieved, or the awesome people who helped build up this studio. I can safely say Vigil's future is in very good hands, so expect only awesomeness down the road. This feels surreal...I miss the place already.”

Madureira teased news about “the next big thing” in the “coming months,” but it’s unclear if it will again involve video games.

Just a few days back, the official Twitter account for Darksiders teased this image with the tagline: “A new adventure awaits Death!”

Madureira had been with Vigil Games since its inception, racking up seven years with the company.

A portion of an MTV review...

If you're willing to wrestle with the not-great camera, and a story with an ending that concludes with more of a whimper than a bang (I'm still trying to decide how I feel about it, but the ending is more quiet and contemplative when compared to the big, crazy action of the rest of the story). I guess the surest signal of how I feel about the game is that I'll definitely be going back in to play a new game-plus as soon as I get a chance.
