A portion of a Dtoid review...

There's no denying that Xenoblade has its low points, but those high points are some of the highest of the genre. If you own a Wii, there's very little room to question -- this is a must-have game for Nintendo's humble little system.

Xenoblade Chronicles is considerable for having an active combat system more engaging than anything I have seen in years. Although, with all things considered, Xenoblade Chronicles is really good, too.

A portion of an IGN review...

Xenoblade Chronicles is the best Japanese RPG of this generation. The fact that it looks like it's from the last generation is its only drawback, but its technical limitations are offset by imaginative artistic direction, innovative and compelling combat, and thoughtful design.

Question: Which character is your favorite? How were the characters constructed?

Mr. Takahashi’s answer: “Don’t make me choose! The creation of the characters was the result of a joint effort by every member on staff. I wrote the scripts for each character, the planning team came up with their features and the design team handled their visualizations.”

A portion of a Siliconera review...

If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if someone paired a good JRPG developer with a forward-thinking publisher and gave them a generous development budget, Xenoblade is the exact answer.

Following the huge fan-driven uproar over Xenoblade Chronicles initially not coming to North America, Nintendo finally announced the game would be making its way stateside on April 6. It's a huge win for the system, which later this year will be stepping aside to make way for Nintendo's next generat...

If you were one of the many Wii owners grousing loudly and frequently when it seemed as though Nintendo had no intention of bringing one of several highly regarded role-playing games for the system over to North America from Japan, your rage was likely soothed just a bit when the company finally agreed to just go ahead and put Xenoblade Chronicles out here this April, because you wouldn't shut up about it. That, however, still left Pandora's Tower and Mistwalker's The Last Story floating about in the unlocalized ether, perhaps never to be properly available in the States...

Your letter writing campaign paid off! Again!

...Until today! During a largely 3DS-focused conference this morning, the company let slip that The Last Story would be coming to America, with localization courtesy of independent publisher XSEED Games.

XSEED obviously has a history of taking typically obscure Japanese games and bringing them to the North American market. In the case of The Last Story, they'll be handling all localization duties, and handling exclusive publishing duties in North America, courtesy of a special deal with Nintendo, who co-developed the title with Mistwalker.

No more specific release date than "this summer" has been announced, but that's still a hell of a lot better than the "probably never" we had to work with prior to this morning. While it doesn't sound likely that anyone will be picking up Pandora's Tower at this point, you've gotta figure two out of three headed to American shores is a vast improvement over the zero out of three we were staring at late last year, right?

According to Nintendo of America head Reggie Fils-Aime himself, Xenoblade Chronicles will finally arrive in North America on April 6. Wait, but didn't that game already come out, like, two other times? Yes, friend, it totally did. First, in Japan on June 10, 2010 as just "Xenoblade," then in Europe once more on August 19, 2011 with its current name. The April 6, 2012 North American launch will make its third such launch. But hey, check out that incredible box art!

The game's tumultuous journey from Japanese exclusivity to worldwide release has been a point of contention for classic console JRPG fans. After a group formed online named "Operation Rainfall," various loud messages were voiced to Nintendo about a trio of JRPGs that were at the time unannounced for North America (The Last Story, Xenoblade Chronicles, and Pandora's Tower). All three titles have since been announced for release (or released) in other regions, though Pandora's Tower is still not planned for a US release.

Of course, you could've been playing Xenoblade Chronicles all along by using our handy guide to making the EU version work on your North American Wii. But then you already knew that, right?

Xenoblade Chronicles is still on track for its April 2012 release in North America, proving that there's nothing in this world that you can't do. This latest trailer from Nintendo and Monolith Soft shows off the game's combat, crafting and weapons systems, as well as some very large robot swords.

Xenoblade Chronicles "the game" is definitely coming to the US Wii on April 3, but Xenoblade Chronicles "the box art" is more of a vague idea at this point. Nintendo is allowing fans to choose the inside portion of Xenoblade's reversible box art via a Facebook photo poll -- of the four photos shown below, whichever has the most "Likes" will become the US game's reversible image:
