UPDATE: SEGA has now removed the blog. Looks like they might have posted this too early!

Today, we are pleased to announce that a new patch for the Wii U version of Sonic Lost World has just gone live, and is available for free download!

This patch adds a number of improvements and changes. Please find the full list of updates below:

Gameplay Updates:

• Collecting 100 rings will now grant the player an extra life.
• In the event of a Game Over, we have doubled the amount of lives the player will begin with when continuing. (From 5 to 10)
• The Indigo Asteroid, Crimson Eagle, Orange Rocket, and Black Bomb Color Powers can now be controlled using the analog stick and buttons.
• Fixed a rare graphical issue that would sometimes appear during the pinball section of the Frozen Factory casino area.

Additional Updates:

• When completing the NiGHTMARE DLC, users will be notified that they can re-play it after scoring 100,000 points.
• Items will now appear on the world map.

We hope you all enjoy the new updates to the game. As always, thank you for your feedback!

A portion of a Vooks review...

Sonic Lost World feels and looks great on the Wii U, it’s bright and cheerful and runs at full speed. There’s unfortunately a learning curve with the controls that some may never get over and the later you get into the game the more punishing it gets. It never quite lives up to Generations though and Sega still have a while to go to figure out what they want Sonic to be.

Sonic Dash, the endless runner app for iOS devices, is currently featuring a guest appearance by Zazz, an enemy from Sonic: Lost World. Zazz is one of the members of anti-Sonic brigade The Deadly Six, and uses a flying mech. Players will need to swipe left and right to avoid his projectiles, or swipe up to jump over them.

The update that enables Sonic Dash's first boss fight also introduces the Deadly Six Card Collection Challenge. In this challenge, players collect unique cards that will unlock special Lost World-themed prizes when enough have been collected by the community.

The card challenge and boss fight against Zazz are only available for a limited time, though the press release announcing the events did not specify at what date the events would end.

A portion of a NWR review...

It’s exhilarating to race across cylinders and use Sonic’s new moves to wall jump through a spike-filled area, although not every stage of Sonic Lost World is a true playground for Sonic’s new abilities. Despite the uneven level of polish on the stages, Sonic Lost World is a great platformer that shouldn’t be missed.
