Finally...I finally got to check out NightSky on 3DS. I am such a HUGE fan of Nifflas' games, as I feel no one else makes titles like him. The artwork is simple but gorgeous, the gameplay mechanics are easy to pick up but ever so engaging and the atmosphere always ties the entire game universe together. After finally going hands-on with Nifflas' NightSky on 3DS, I can't wait to download it on my own.
What's NighySky all about? You play as a silhouetted ball rolling through a puzzling landscape. It's your job to use the ball's speed, sticky and heavy powers to get from point A to point B. The thing is, NightSky is all about taking in the journey rather than racing from the finish.
As I said above the atmosphere in Nifflas' games is amazing. These titles begged to be played while you're own your own. You need a clear head and a relaxed mood to really take it all in. NightSky is really do different. While the gameplay might involve traditional platforming elements, it's the way that everything comes together that really makes it so special.
I can't even pinpoint what makes NightSky such a goosebump-worthy experience. Is the atmosphere achieved by the barely-there yet gorgeous music? Is it the subtle use of colors? How about the idea of traveling across the landscape without any idea of your destination or how you got where you are? I don't know what it is, but NightSky truly works its magic on me.
I'm telling you, keep your eye on this one. If you're a fan of platforming puzzlers, that's reason enough to look more into NightSky. If you want a game that's going to be a cut above the rest when it comes to atmosphere, I can't recommend a developer any better than Nifflas. Much like Nintendo Land, NightSky is a game that needs to be played to truly be appreciated for all it offers.
