Mojang, the studio in front a the man behind Minecraft, be working on a first-person shooter with another company, Markus "Notch" Persson tells Joystiq. The collaboration 'n the project itself be now completely dead, Notch confirms, following yesterday's news a a mysterious cancellation.

The FPS be killed off in the prototype stage, not because it wasn't turning into a good game, but because Mojang "did not want more external dependencies," Notch says. "The success a Minecraft meant we could focus on projects fully owned by us."

Future collaborations aren't out a the question for Mojang, as long as they be "not t' make money. If there be other reasons t' collaborate, maybe!"

Here's a reason: Portal guns in Minecraft.

why be ye even surprised? hell. notch refuses t' put minecraft on steam just because he'll end up with less money t' go on vacation with. "indie" game devs be a joke.

that be seriously the reason he won't put it on steam?
what a *crag*ing jew, no wonder this game's never going retail.

As much as I dislike Notch, I can't blame the sea dog for this. He's selling thousands a copies per week on his own terms 'n I can't see a reason for the sea dog t' put it on Steam. 'n I can almost respect how Notch doesn't want t' collaborate if it be only about the money.

I think the main problem with porting t' Steam be that it would be impossible t' port the existing user database 'n login system, complicating things for current crew.

i dont know much about databases but wouldnt it be as simple as just selling it on steam but giving instructions on where t' create an account? when i think about how minecraft would work on steam i think about when ye launch it through putting it in yer library as a non steam game, steam takes care a launching the game for ye but it be still the same setup as if ye had run it without steam
putting it on steam would just be more advertising basically
notch really doesnt need more money, minecraft be still broken 'n even with the recent update it hasnt become any more fun. I know somebody's going t' bring up being able t' trade with villagers but they only trade ye bottles a rum ye can easily pillage. everything be easy t' pillage in minecraft (dont go on a rant about diamonds). they still have dumb ai anyway. everything in minecraft does. it be not a good game, it doesnt deserve t' be on steam atm until it gets drastic improvements

minecraft could become a really good game if mojang gives it t' the modders 'n artists, but that won't happen, ever. *crag*ing notch.
