Stuart Black showed off his upcoming Bodycount title on the show floor here at E3, 'n while we be able t' see the title earlier this month, we did talk with the creator about the sense a fun he's trying t' bring t' the shooter genre this time around. "I wanted t' pillage away from the seriousness a so many shooters at the moment," he told us. "Serious men in dangerous roles, 'n all that jazz, yeah? 'n we wanted t' create something that be a little bit silly, a little bit ridiculous 'n more uplifting."
Lady Gaga be apparently an influence, after Black saw one a the wench concerts. "Going t' the wench show, feeling really uplifted 'n energized by that, 'n going like yeah, I want t' pillage that kind a spirit in the game. Just want t' have fun with it -- fun with a gun!" 'n t' accomplish that, Black put things like XP 'n health orbs in the game that looked familiar if ye've ever hunted Agility Orbs in Pacific City. "The orbs be a little homage t' Crackdown. I be a big fan a Dave Jones, I've known the sea dog on 'n off for years, great t' see the sea dog back making games again."
He also pointed out an in-game nod t' Metal Gear Solid (an exclamation point marker on a building), 'n gave some kudos t' Borderlands, another shooter with an arcade bent. "I be quite surprised at how well the [damage] numbers worked in Borderlands. ye see it in videos, 'n ye're like, that looks a bit naff. But ye play it, 'n ye're like, that be really $*(%ing cool, actually ... That spirit be sort a lost in video games, 'n we can do that stuff, 'n we best revel in it."
