Capcom's idea of celebrating Valentine's Day involves watching some virtual women fight. That's not exactly the canonical interpretation of the couples' holiday, but on the upside, it does mean we get a new Super Street Fighter IV trailer. That makes us a lot more willing to look past the odd undertones. It's not in-game footage, but we do enjoy seeing the unique style of Street Fighter IV cinematics.

Capcom also released some (relatively) more appropriate Valentine's Day material: a set of Valentines made from Super Street Fighter IV screens. Actually, upon further review, forget the "appropriate" part.

Accessory company Mad Catz released its earnings report for the third quarter of its fiscal year (ending December 31, 2009), with numbers that suggest its wares are selling like mad. Net sales came to $48.8 million, which is "the second-best quarter of sales in the company's history." Profits increased 51 percent over the same period in the previous fiscal year, a change Mad Catz attributes to its movement out of low-price controllers and into higher-end specialty accessories. Hello $150 FiightStick!

In its announcement, Mad Catz also listed the controllers and accessories it plans to ship in the near future. In addition to the new Super Street Fighter IV "Tournament Edition S" FightSticks (pictured above), the release also reveals plans to sell a new Super Street Fighter IV edition of the standard FightStick. It's as of yet unconfirmed if the standard stick will be given a new layout and shell like the superified Tournament Edition stick, or merely new artwork.

If you prefer Street Fighter in hand-drawn 2D instead of the look of Street Fighter IV, and if you prefer it to be ... completely non-interactive, well, Capcom has some exciting news. A Super Street Fighter IV anime project is in the works from the Gonzo animation company. The anime focuses on Juri (and her weird glowing eye), but also contains "great fighting action," "backstory goodness," and "plenty of Cammy and the Dolls," according to Capcom's Seth Killian. How to see the anime is a bit of a mystery. Capcom is offering it to Xbox 360 buyers of Super Street Fighter IV as a bonus (possibly as some kind of download or through Xbox Live Marketplace), but that offer is for Japan only. The fact that a trailer is available on Xbox Live Marketplace in North America suggests that it will be available here in some form. We're checking with Capcom for details. In the meantime, enjoy the trailer above or through your Xbox. Shortcut: Download the Super Street Fighter IV anime trailer

Now that we know when we can get our hands on Super Street Fighter IV (April 27!) we can start flipping out in earnest about the prospect of experimenting with all the new characters. Capcom, anticipating our desire to flip out, sent out a new trailerwhich features all of the currently announced characters showing off what they can do. It's totally worth watching just to see Dee Jay win, then get totally stomped in rapid succession. Also, watch for Cody ruining a "Street Fighter: Screw the Rules" mural. What a jerk!

Having pulled some of its heaviest hitters out of the busy Q1 release calendar, Capcom is ready to reassign those titles to an entirely new part of the calendar, one that hasn't been getting nearly as much attention as its numeric predecessor: Q2. Monster Hunter Tri was already announced for April, but now Super Street Fighter IV will join it on April 27th in North America and April 30th in Europe. New characters, new combos, and the return of the smash-a-car bonus stage (see pic!) are highlights of the not-yet-priced though sure-to-be affordable followup. Lost Planet 2 is more "sequel" than Super Street Fighter IV-style expansion. The co-op focused third-person shooter offers "larger-than-life bosses" and four player co-op over Xbox Live or PlayStation Network, and you'll be able to take it up on that offer on May 18th in both North America and Europe. That leaves us some room in the June video game budget, if any publishers are looking to take advantage of the rest of Q2.

Have you been curious to see how Super Street Fighter IV's newly indoctrinated jailbird Cody does his titular street fighting? What about the lightning-quick Adon? Or the generically-named Guy? All three of these brawler's techniques are dissected in the three GameTrailers videos we've posted after the jump. If you're an expert SFIV player, it'll show you the new strategies you'll need to develop to succeed in the game's Super iteration. If you're like us, it'll show you the moves you'll occasionally and accidentally execute as your hands flail across the controller's surface.

Capcom's brought its A game to CES 2010, unloading everything but the proverbial kitchen sink (and the full roster list) for Super Street Fighter IV. There's some new fight sticks to look forward to, new screens and two new gameplay trailers -- which have oddly low volume, for some reason -- showing off those sweet new Ultra Combos. You can check out the new screens in our gallery below, but you'll have to jump past the break for the conclusion of this two-part combo of fresh gameplay clips. It's totally worth it, we assure you.

After teasing us with half an image last night, Mad Catz and Capcom have announced a new "Tournament Edition" arcade stick is in development, branded with new art featuring Super Street Fighter IV. The stick will be made available in two flavors (check them out below!) for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Alongside the "Tournament Edition S" sticks, Mad Catz "anticipates" releasing four new FightPads for consoles, branded with new art. Considering the supply and demand issues the original batch of controllers saw, we "anticipate" Mad Catz will flood the market with the new batch of peripherals. Unfortunately, Capcom recently pulled Super Street Fighter IV from its Q1 release window; however, we can only presume the controllers will be made available within the same time frame as the game itself. When we pried a Mad Catz rep for a release window on the new controllers they would only confirm it's slated for a release this spring. Hopefully that means we'll get our hands on both items in time to shield us from the April showers.

(click to embiggen) Update: Capcom's Twitter feed got a bit more informationey later on this evening, showing off the Capcom suite at CES, complete with "new hotness from MadCatz." Though the shot is significantly more blurry, it certainly seems to indicate a new arcade stick coming from MadCatz for Super Street Fighter IV. Considering the Consumer Electronics Show is happening right this minute in Las Vegas, it's no surprise that Capcom's Twitter account is busy teasing pictures of yet-to-be-revealed arcade sticks for the upcoming sorta-sequel Super Street Fighter IV. As you can see in the image above, an inky outline of Ryu overlooks a more colorful button set than the previous game's stick. Additionally, the shape of the controller's box certainly bears a striking resemblance to the Street Fighter IV Tournament Edition joysticks from MadCatz that were in such short supply last year. We've followed up with Capcom but were told there's no official comment just yet.

Recent Famitsu magazine scans have surfaced, revealing new Ultra Combos for Super Street Fighter IV's world warriors and friends. As an added bonus, Eventhubs has actually translated the descriptions of the attacks, so you can get a better idea of what you're squinting at. Chun-Li's Kikosho fireball returns, and now Ryu has a "Metsu-shoryuken" -- a super-powerful Dragon Punch, duh. Most interesting, however, is Cammy's new Ultra Combo: the "Cammy Quick Combo" -- or "CQC" -- a counter move. The Famitsu issue also features images of new alternate costumes for the upgraded fighting game -- Chun Li's, above, is the most visible from the scan. Thankfully, GameTrailers has posted a much clearer, wha-wha-wha-wooorld exclusive look at the costumes in action, along with some of the new Ultra Combos and rival battles, embedded after the break. [Thanks, Will]
