We’re fresh off a visit to EA’s Redwood Shores campus, where the teams behind Medal of Honor, Dead Space 2, and Shank showed us the latest post-E3 builds of their games, and then took time to answer the questions you posed to us earlier in the week. First up: Medal of Honor.

On the new content front, the impressively-bearded Greg Goodrich (you may remember him from our E3 interview) demonstrated a mission from the single player mode. As a sniper perched high above an enemy encampment in the Afghan mountains, he picked off a number of enemies, eventually drawing attention to his location. As the enemies let loose with mortar fire, the player switched over to reverse infrared imaging to spot the artillery operators and counter-snipers hiding in the brush and to put high-caliber rounds in their skulls from over a kilometer away.

The audio was a standout here; the crackle of your CO’s orders over the radio and your spotter’s instructions seemed as true to life as most of us will ever get to a behind-enemy-lines situation.

Other news: the Medal of Honor beta is being extended in both time and scope – those of you who purchased Battlefield 1943 should now also have access to the MOH beta. Check out Medal of Honor on Twitter for more details.

Xbox 360 owners have been patiently waiting their turn to go online in the Medal of Honor beta. After weeks of delays, it appears EA and DICE's multiplayer shooter is now available on Xbox Live. If you've managed to snag an elusive code, you'll be able to redeem it here to exchange it for an Xbox Live voucher.

The beta is expected to end on July 31st, giving Xbox owners at least ten days to get an early peek at the FPS. If you haven't managed to procure a code, stay tuned to our Twitter account. We'll be giving away a few codes later in the day.

[Thanks to everyone that sent this in!]

Curious as to why you're still able to hop onto the online battlefields of Medal of Honor, when the beta was scheduled to end last Sunday? The game's official blog recently updated with the announcement that the multiplayer beta test had been extended to July 31 for the PS3 and PC versions of the game.

This extension could possibly be due to the ever-lengthening delay of the 360 version of the beta test, which the blog post also referenced, stating, "we are continuing to work with Microsoft on the Xbox 360 beta and are dedicated to delivering it as soon as possible." We suggest trying to get it in before October 12, at which point a beta test would be fairly redundant.

Following the E3 reveal that the PS3 limited edition of Medal of Honor would include a remastered version of Medal of Honor: Frontline, EA has announced additional details of the limited-edition release for PS3, Xbox, and PC. Sadly, no fake beard is included. Yet.

The "limited edition," as it turns out, is simply the normal release with some extra free content for early adopters. Pre-ordering the game now will grant you access to the MP7, "a unique weapon utilized by Tier 1 Operators in the field." You'll also get day-one access to two shotguns, the TOZ-194 and 870MC2, that normally require higher ranks. You can get your first look at these weapons after the break, unless you're a real Tier 1 Operator, in which case you've seen them.

It may surprise you, but you've actually already played Medal of Honor before. No, we're not talking about the Nazi shooting gallery that was the 1999 original. If imitation is a form of flattery, then Modern Warfare 2 must be blushing up a storm right now.

There's no way the comparisons can be avoided. From the setting, to the twitchy lone-wolf gameplay, right down to the class progression, Medal of Honor is incredibly reminiscent of Modern Warfare 2. We knew EA wanted to dethrone Infinity Ward's shooter, but we had no idea EA would go as far as to try and create Modern Warfare 2.5.

That's not entirely a bad thing for gamers, though. If you enjoy Modern Warfare 2, you're going to find a lot of value in Medal of Honor. Though Medal of Honor isn't entirely the same game as Modern Warfare 2 -- where Infinity Ward went right, on occasion DICE and EA LA have seen fit to go in the opposite direction, sometimes to the detriment of the experience.

Patience is a virtue, and nobody knows that better than the Xbox 360 owners waiting to experience the Medal of Honor beta. "Unfortunately, we have experienced a delay with the beta on the Xbox 360," said executive producer Greg Goodrich in a recent press release. "To the Xbox 360 community, we say thank you for your patience. We are working to fix the issues that have caused this delay."

EA said that it will extend the beta period to compensate for the Xbox 360's late addition to the program, though it's still unclear just when all the technical difficulties are expected to be resolved. Those who pre-order the game -- the only way to gain access to the beta on Xbox 360 -- will apparently have "ample time to play and provide feedback."

Medal of Honor deploys to the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 12.

Wait, why are you reading this? You know that the Medal of Honor multiplayer beta is live for the PS3 right now – don’t you?

Beta access is reserved for those who pre-order the full version of Medal of Honor, EA and DICE’s modern-day war shooter that hits the PS3 this October. Luckily, we’ve got 18 beta code vouchers* to hand out to loyal PlayStation.Blog readers – keep an eye on the official PlayStation Twitter feed to find out how to win later today. To get a head start on the giveaway, watch the following video (very) carefully.

**Note: If you do win a beta voucher, you must redeem it on the official Medal of Honor site and specify PS3 to get a code you can redeem on the PSN Store.

At the 2010 E3 Expo last week, Medal of Honor executive producer Greg Goodrich and creative director Richard Farrelly give us a primer on what’s new (modern-day Afghanistan with modern-day weapons), what’s unlockable (Tier 1 Operator status and…beards?!), and what’s planned for the final release of Medal of Honor this fall. At a high level, our E3 multiplayer session highlighted Medal of Honor’s class customization. You can choose between the long-range Rifleman class, which excels at distance-based fighting; the Sniper class, which focuses on long-range marksmanship; and the Special Ops class, which packs grenades and faster-firing weapons for close-range domination.

The weapon modification system also stands out for its modular, ultra-customizable nature. For instance, the Rail slot can be equipped with a red dot sight, iron sights, or a combat scope; the Barrel slot can take a suppressor or muzzle brake. Each mod offers its own advantages and disadvantages, and when you factor in Medal of Honor’s variable ammunition types (hollowpoint rounds, shotgun slugs, extra mags), you’re looking at a highly personalized multiplayer shooter.

Peep the interview video, follow us on Twitter, and prepare to take a shot for a slice of Honor. Salud!
