Hey. It's artist Dan Luvisi again. Three times in one year? It's worth it, because Grand Theft Otto - mashing the Simpsons and Vice City - is what it is. Awesome. It also reminds me of a dream game of mine, back in the day, where Rockstar and EA sat down, put Vice City and Simpsons Hit & Ride together, and made the greatest game of all time. The first years of the new millennium brought us the seventh generation of video game consoles, and with that came a whole new family of attractive men and women. With new evolutions, this decade introduced the start of increasingly realistic-looking characters. In this decade, we finally started to see male protagonists who aren't weird action-hero caricatures, but look more natural. But the trend for female characters started to lean towards ridiculous proportions that gave even the original Lara Croft a shameful run for her money. We've already taken a look at the 80s and the 90s, but in this third part of our series we'll explore the era between 2000 and 2009. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, the story of one man’s rise to the top of the criminal pile, is now available to download from PlayStation Store for $9.99 as part of the PS2 Classics collection.

That’s the original game in digital form, and to complete the nostalgia, we’ve made the map that was originally packed in the game box available as a hi-res jpeg for you to print out and peruse next time you’re lost in Little Havana. We’ve also got the maps for GTAIII and San Andreas, both of which are already available to download from PS Store.

Ten years have passed since Vice City was originally released on PlayStation 2. Over at the Rockstar Newswire, we’ve been casting an eye back and celebrating that anniversary with a series of features and never-before-released peeks behind the digital curtain of the game’s development.

One of these was a three-part series of interactive Flash features showcasing the game’s Animation, Sound and City Design. ‘The Lab’, as the series is known, was originally exhibited at London’s Design Museum when they nominated the game for their ‘biggest contribution to design in 2002’ award. This is the first time it has been made widely available online.

And now, two games united only by the details of their release, and nothing else. Next week, on January 29, Platinum Games' hair witch project Bayonetta, and the PS2 Classic Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, will be available on PlayStation Network for PS3, for $20 and $10 respectively. Both games will be available the next day in Europe.

One important caveat: the PS3 version of Bayonetta is not the ideal version. A patch fixed loading time issues, but users continue to report framerate and texture loading issues in Sega's PS3 port.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is now available for iOS devices via the App Store, which is completely insane when you stop to think about it. When this game was new ten years ago, it took an entire game console to get to play it, and now your damn telephone just happens to be powerful enough to also run this game as a bonus.

The $4.99 Universal App has been updated from the PS2 original and now features Retina-optimized HD graphics and the ability to listen to the music in your iTunes library as a radio station, which is actually pretty sweet. I mean, you're still playing a PlayStation 2 game with on-screen touch controls, but at least you can listen to Ke$ha while you do it.

Rockstar has decided to pull the PC version of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City from digital distributors for an undisclosed period while it deals with some licensing-related complications.

"Due to some music licensing issues, we've had to temporarily remove Vice City PC from digital stores. We'll make it available again as soon as possible," a statement to Game Informer reads. Rockstar hasn't specifically called out which song(s) are at the heart of this dispute, but tells Game Informer this current licensing issue won't affect the upcoming mobile port.

Cinema Blend suggests it's Michael Jackson's "Wanna Be Startin' Something" that's the problem, which Sony Music Entertainment owns. If you've already purchased Vice City through Steam or your other favorite digital distributor, you should run into no problems installing and playing the game - unless you do, in which case you'll want to call your cousin Carl. He's real good with them computers.

The game will be playable on "a wide range of iOS and Android devices" later this fall and comes as part of Vice Citys 10th anniversary celebration this month.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is marking its 10th anniversary by riding onto iOS and Android this fall, following in the footsteps of GTA 3. Rockstar also announced that, to celebrate the 2002 game's landmark, the new versions will include unseen assets and artwork. Rockstar didn't reveal a price or release date, but for reference GTA 3 costs $4.99 on both platforms.

Vice City hitting iOS and Android may well mark the coming of the final entry in GTA's PlayStation 2 triad. Not only is it logical, but around this time last year Rockstar said upcoming iOS ports of both Vice City and San Andreas were "very possible." The first has come to pass, so don't be surprised if you're visiting Los Santos on your iPad in a year's time.

The most stylish entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, Vice City, is on sale today through Steam. The fast boats, quick carjackings and speedball simulator is 75 percent off, making the game a mere $2.49.

To think, back in the '80s, one could get two gallons of gas for that price.

The idea of noted classic game revivalists WayForward rebooting the Double Dragon franchise for a new XBLA/PSN game seems so utterly perfect, that it's actually sort of weird that it hasn't happened yet. Well, now it is.

Why yes, that is quite a bit of Neon, isn't it?

Revealing the game to IGN, WayForward and publishing partner Majesco are planning on releasing Double Dragon Neon for the aforementioned platforms this summer.

The Neon of the title refers to the game's aesthetic, which is steeped in '80s visual elements in a way IGN describes as what it would look like "if GTA Vice City threw up on Big Trouble in Little China." That doesn't sound half-bad, actually.

The gameplay evidently doesn't stray too far from the original design, mixing straight-up beat-'em-up combat with weapons-based maneuvers. The plot will once again seeing the perpetually kidnapped Marion kidnapped by yet another thug, whose name is actually Skullmageddon. That's great and everything, but what of Abobo? I expect heavy doses of Abobo early and often in my Double Dragon games, dammit.

This isn't the first time someone's tried to reboot the Double Dragon franchise. Back in 2003, 10 whole years after the previous new game in the series, Atlus put out Double Dragon Advance for the GBA. That game was actually pretty great, but it didn't exactly spark off a franchise revival. Given WayForward's chops with games based on old school concepts, maybe they'll be the team to bring Double Dragon back to mass acclaim. Considering how much time I spent playing the original Double Dragon port for the NES, I certainly wouldn't mind.

If you prefer the vibrant, jewel-toned streets of Vice City or the gritty, decidedly not-jewel-toned avenues of San Andreas to the trappings of Old Liberty City, you might have your fancy tickled by Rockstar soon enough. The developer, which recently showed off its iOS port of Grand Theft Auto 3, recently told Digital Trends that, though it might be a "technical challenge," similarly mobile versions of GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas are "very possible."

That's the kind of can-do attitude that made Rockstar the top-flight development studio it is today. Well, that and the secret deal that Dan Houser made with the devil back in 1999.
