While I've had a decent amount of time with Kid Icarus Uprising's main game, my exposure to the multiplayer modes was limited to just a few, rushed minutes with an early demo on the crowded E3 2011 show floor. What I saw there didn't leave a strong impression on me at the time, but after my recent demo, it seems evident that the developers have put quite a bit of spit shine into these modes since I last saw them. In fact, Uprising's multiplayer component may just be the game's greatest strength...

- heavenly weapons come in multiple varieties
- a higher number on a heavenly weapon doesn't necessarily mean it's better
- circling in the air helps you to avoid attacks, but it makes you slower
- abilities have to be shuffled about in a case to make them fit
- you can only bring a certain amount of abilities with you
- destroy weapons you don't want in exchange for hearts

I don't know if this has had any attention drawn to it yet, but I just wanted to point out that the Eggplant Wizard is indeed in Kid Icarus: Uprising!

With very few Wii releases on the horizon (Rhythm Heaven Fever, Mario Party 9 and Xenoblade are pretty much it), our minds can't help but wander to the possibilities presented by Nintendo's next generation of home consoles, the Wii U. First Blade
Described as the perfect beginner's weapon, this blade has a good balance of usability and strength.

Burst Blade
With its dispersed shots, this has a wider strike range than the First Blade. Its dispersed shots are less powerful but the Burst Blade can be very useful when Pit is surrounded by enemies.

Viper Blade
Said to have been forged from the scales of a
thousand venomous serpents, this blade fires charged shots which can occasionally poison enemies.

- There are times in which NPCs appear abruptly to fight by your side
- Recurring villains like Dark Pit appear from time to time
- Constant stream of dialogue to give players a better idea of what’s going on
- Dialogue is usually between Pit and Palutena or Palutena and the villain at the moment
- Dialogue “works like a charm” because of “clever writing and strong performances”
- “necessary plot explanations and strategy tips are buried deep within a stream of smart, self-aware banter”
- There’s a moment in the game in which Pit finds an item from the first Kid Icarus and Palutena says that it’s less pixelated than she remembers
- A comrade-in-arms will express shock that Pit would be so reckless as to open treasure chests left in plain sight without suspecting a trap

According to game designer Masahiro Sakurai, Uprising is finished—or, as they say in the game industry, "it's gone gold". Read Kotaku impressions of this "gaudy, goofy, surprisingly hardcore shoot-'em-up". [@Sora_Sakurai] More »

Blade
The well-balanced weapon-type is suitable for any situation, though it lacks any major unique features.

Bow
The light arrows fired from the bow are ideal for long-range encounters and also feature a strong amount of auto-targeting.

Cannon
The cannon’s arching shots detonate upon impact, inflicting damage to all nearby enemies.
