The Assassin's Creed movie just can't catch a break. After being pushed back from its original release date of May 22, 2015 to June 19, the movie has once again been delayed by almost two months, to the 7th of August, 2015.Read more...

Ubisoft’s treatment of PC gamers has vacillated between utter garbage and lightly pine-scented garbage in the past few years, but it’s impossible to deny that the publisher’s put its considerable weight behind some interesting stuff in recent times. Its most recent two cannon-ball superman dives off the beaten path are Valiant Hearts and Child of Light, and I’ve written at length about both of them. Now, though, you can watch a quick overview of the CoL section I played in video form. Unfortunately, the game’s most important feature – a room full of so many murders of drunken crows that it probably counts as a massacre (or a really weird goth party) – is sadly absent. Priorities, Ubisoft. Priorities.

Essentially a more fully-featured version of the mapping and game-tracking options already found in Assassin's Creed 4, the game's newly-released companion app is far from mandatory. Still, it's available as a free download on iTunes and Google Play, so it's hard to complain about what might have been.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag had a lot of making up to do. I thought the previous game in the series, Assassin's Creed III, was a resounding disappointment. I've already weighed in on the new, pirate-themed Black Flag: It's pretty good. But for those who felt burnt by the last game, a more thorough comparison may be in order.Read more...

Cancel that siesta because Rayman Fiesta Run is out today, and you can grab it on the App Store right now. Ubisoft's Latin-flavored auto-runner, which is priced at $3, is also due on Google Play and Windows 8 storefronts.

I couldn't resist a quick go on my iPhone 5 this morning, and I'm both pleased and upset to report I wanted a much longer go. Early impressions: If you liked Jungle Run, then surprise surprise, you'll probably like Fiesta Run too.

Ubisoft hasn't strayed too far from last year's winning formula, but the addition of the Invasion levels looks to stand out. These are much tougher variations of the regular levels, layering the original version with plenty of additional enemies and traps. Each Invasion level is unlocked when you get all 100 lums in the easier version - which, as it happens, I'm already finding harder to do.

Another neat touch - apparently exclusive to the iOS version - if you played Jungle Run on the same device, your tally of lums from that game will transfer over to Fiesta Run; you can use lums to unlock various artwork, heroes, and helpful items the follow-up.

Ubisoft has released a new batch of downloadable content for its guitar instructional game Rocksmith 2014 Edition, adding a metalicious 5-track injection from Iron Maiden, along with new songs from legendary Japanese guitarist Tomoyasu Hotei.

Rocksmith 2014's new Maiden tracks include "2 Minutes To Midnight," "Aces High," "Run To The Hills," "Fear Of The Dark," and "The Number Of The Beast." Thankfully, Rocksmith does not require players to master the nightmarish percussion track from "Run To The Hills" -- Rock Band Endless Setlist veterans can insert a sigh of relief here -- though its lengthy solo will prove even more challenging for novice guitarists.

Tomoyasu Hotei's additions include the singles "Thrill" and "Bambina," along with the Kill Bill theme "Battle Without Honor or Humanity." The guitarist's tracks have previously been featured in Konami's Guitar Freaks series, and Hotei himself starred in the impossibly cheesy PSOne rhythm game Stolen Song, so he's certainly no stranger to the world of video games.

Rocksmith 2014's new tracks are priced at $2.99 individually. An Iron Maiden five-pack is also available for $11.99, while the three-song Hotei pack will cost you $7.99.

It must be awfully tricky making a game run on both current-and next-gen systems, taking advantage of the power of new consoles while keeping things running on the old ones. With Assassin's Creed IV, one of the highest profile cross-gen games around, it sounds like the current-gen side of things was, perhaps unsurprisingly, a real hassle.Read more...

Ubisoft has just announced that Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will be available to purrrrrrrchase on November 19. Ignoring that we just rolled our r's like a cat instead of a pirate, the game will be available for Windows in three different verrrrrrrsions. We can't stop!

Standard edition will be available at retail and through digital distribution networks. The Deluxe Edition includes the game, plus "new locations to discover and explore, additional customization items and a new adventure starring Aveline as the main character."

There's also the Uplay Deluxe Edition, available through the Ubi store, which includes all the contents from the Deluxe Edition, plus the "Pride of the West Indies" pack. Players who pre-order the game through the Uplay front will also receieve 25 percent off the game's season pass.

Assassin's Creed IV isn't just a pirate adventure, and it doesn't just take place on the high seas. See, there's also a fictional present-day bit that takes place in a Montreal game development studio that makes Assassin's Creed games. Just in time for everyone's favorite pumpkin-related holiday, Ubisoft has announced the addition of five Smashing Pumpkins tracks to Rocksmith 2014.

Included in the pack are five of the band's biggest, mid-90s singles. "Today" and "Disarm" originally appeared on 1993's Siamese Dream, while "Tonight, Tonight," "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" and "1979" hail from 1995's Melon Collie And The Infinite Sadness. These songs join "Cherub Rock," another cut from Siamese Dream already featured in Rocksmith 2014.

The Smashing Pumpkins DLC pack is currently available for download from either the Xbox Live Marketplace or Steam. A PlayStation 3 iteration of the DLC is due on November 6. Each song can be purchased individually at $3 a piece, though if you pick up all five new tracks at once you'll only spend $12.

Ubisoft's Uplay Passport, a one-time-use code in new games that grants access to online features, will not be included in any future games and is being stripped from Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag.

"The Uplay Passport program was initiated as a means of giving customers full access and support for online multiplayer and features, along with exclusive content, bonuses and rewards," Ubisoft writes. "However, games today are blurring the line between offline and online, between what is 'single player' and what is 'multiplayer.' Based on that and on the feedback we received from you, we recognized that Passport is no longer the best approach for ensuring that all our customers have the best possible experience with all facets of our games."

Uplay in Black Flag restricted single-player access to the game's fleet management system, Ubisoft confirmed. Ubisoft is eliminating the cost of the Uplay Passport in Black Flag - those without one can download a code for free via Xbox Live or PSN, and those who already bought one can contact regional Ubisoft support for more information.

South Park: The Stick of Truth has been delayed to March 4, 2014, Ubisoft announced today. The game will now launch on March 6, 2014 in Europe, according to IGN. Ubisoft acquired the game when it purchased THQ Montreal in January, later announcing that the game would arrive this holiday season.

"Within three weeks after acquiring the game, we sadly realized we had to turn this thing upside down if we hoped to deliver the experience everybody wanted," Ubisoft North America's president Laurent Detoc said in the announcement blog. "It's been such a major overhaul to get to the point where we are that we couldn't let it go, even if that meant missing December."

Ubisoft also unveiled a new gameplay trailer for the game, which clocks in at over seven minutes long.

This weekend kicks off the first in a planned series of multiplayer events for Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag on both PS3 and Xbox 360.

Under Control is an event where players partake in matches of Domination, a territory-based capture mode, as one of Assassin's Creed 4's aristocratic characters: the Huntsman, the Puppeteer, the Dandy or the Duelist. Completing individual objectives will earn you a custom in-game profile picture and title, but completing the community objectives established by Ubisoft will net further in-game goods - like special assassin costumes.

As this is the first multiplayer event, Ubisoft is soliciting feedback from players. PS3 players who provide praise, complaints or any kind of constructive criticism over on the PlayStation Blog or in this community thread will net some exclusive Assassin's Creed 4 avatars, which Ubisoft will send via code voucher in an XMB message prior to November 23. We've inquired with Ubisoft whether Xbox 360 players will have the same opportunity.

The Under Control community event starts sometime tomorrow and lasts throughout the weekend. The full list of community objectives will be located in the events section in-game.

Assassin's Creed IV, like most other big games from Ubisoft, is coming later on PC. You'd think they'd have sorted this out by now. Ungh. So the question is, if you're impatient, will the fancier visuals of the PC edition make it worth waiting nearly a month for if you already own a 360, PS3 or Wii U?Read more...

The loading screen is always the same in Assassin's Creed. Your character stands, clad in the robes of his people, armed to the teeth and surrounded by empty space. A desaturated digital landscape fades into the distance and out of sight. You press the thumbstick forward, and he begins to jog. What's left to do but run? And so you run.Read more...

Assassin's Creed IV may look a bit better on XB1 and PS4, but Ubisoft wants you to know that you're going to get the same experience across all versions of the game. The following comes from Ubisoft's associate producer Sylvain Trottier.

"For us, it was a fundamental law: this is the same game, no matter what platform it's on."

Hopefully we'll find that statement to be true once Assassin's Creed IV launches.

Rayman Fiesta Run scampers onto the App Store, Google Play, and the Amazon Appstore on November 7, priced $2.99 in the US and £1.99 in the UK. The follow-up to the superb Rayman Jungle Run takes on a Latin flavor, mixing the fast auto-platforming with a dash of maracas, pinatas, and of course more baroque guitar. It features 75 new levels to negotiate, and new modes including "Invasion Mode" which ramps up the difficulty by playing around with levels' enemies and traps.

If it's as great as Jungle Run was then Fiesta Run will be more than worth a couple of weeks' wait, although Windows Phone users may indeed have to wait longer; as it stands, the game's still dated to arrive on that platform this fall.

Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Liberation HD will hit the PlayStation Network on January 14, the publisher revealed today at Sony's PlayStation Blog.

An upgraded version of a formerly PS Vita-exclusive spinoff in the Assassin's Creed series, Liberation tracks the bloody exploits of Aveline de Grandpré, a female assassin who stalks 18th-century New Orleans. Ubisoft notes that it has reworked Liberation extensively with regard to pacing, and the upgraded HD release will include 15 new missions that flesh out Aveline's varied personas.

Assassin's Creed Liberation HD will be priced at $19.99. A release for Xbox Live Arcade is also in the works, and a PC version will hit Steam on January 15.
