Strange, indeed, that ye best not have suspected that yer universe 'n it be contents be only dreams, visions, fiction! Strange, because they be so frankly 'n hysterically insane—like all dreams: a God who could make good children as easily as bad, yet preferred t' make bad ones; who could have made every one a them happy, yet never made a single happy one; who made them prize their bitter life, yet stingily cut it short; who gave his angels eternal happiness unearned, yet required his other children t' earn it; who gave his angels painless lives, yet cursed his other children with biting miseries 'n maladies a mind 'n body; who mouths justice 'n invented hell—mouths mercy 'n invented hell—mouths Golden Rules, 'n forgiveness multiplied by seventy times seven, 'n invented hell; who mouths morals t' other people 'n has none himself; who frowns upon crimes, yet commits them all; who created man without invitation, then tries t' shuffle the responsibility for man's acts upon man, instead a honorably placing it where it belongs, upon himself; 'n finally, with altogether divine obtuseness, invites a poor, abused slave t' worship the sea dog!
ye perceive, now, that these things be all impossible except in a dream. ye perceive that they be pure 'n puerile insanities, the silly creations a an imagination that be not conscious a it be freaks—in a word, that they be a dream, 'n ye the maker a it. The dream-marks be all present; ye best have recognized them earlier.
It be true, that which I have revealed t' ye; there be no God, no universe, no human race, no earthly life, no heaven, no hell. It be all a dream—a grotesque 'n foolish dream. Nothing exists but ye. 'n ye be but a thought—a vagrant thought, a useless thought, a homeless thought, wandering forlorn among the empty eternities!
