Those are some weird looking characters, don't you think? For long-time Nintendo fans, you probably recognize what's going on here. With Rusty's Real Deal Baseball being all about hitting/pitching, it's no surprise that there's some pitching machines in there. Furthermore, the odd characters above have a head that comes straight from Nintendo's toy past!

KTAY: Are there more cameo appearances in the works?

MC: Yes, actually. I won't say how many we still have lined up. It's' great to have this support in a community way. Admittedly, we are trying to draw in those fanbases with cameos like this.
Why did Japan's hardware sales see an uptick last week?

Wondering why hardware sales saw a nice bump in Japan this last week? Media-create has come forward with some explanations.

- a consumption tax was scheduled to increase from 5% to 8% starting April 1st
- people were making purchases before the tax increase was put in place
- most Japanese schools have a Spring vacation that lasts from late March to early April
- a new school year begins in April, so demand for a handsel (a gift made as a token of good wishes or luck especially at the beginning of a new year) increases during this period
- the 25th of each month usually serves as payday at most Japanese companies
Age of Wonders 3 review: Sleep when you're dead

Last Saturday, at about four in the morning, I found myself locked in a war of attrition with an angry orc. He'd sacked almost the entirety of my kingdom, forcing my meager remaining troops to hole up in a labyrinthine cave system beneath the surface. There I waited, biding my time, as my generals rallied new soldiers. A few dwarven prospectors, a human assassin and a pair of red dragons eventually joined our ranks. As I once again spurred my faithful giant lizard steed onward toward daylight, I could clearly make out cries of terror in the guttural patois of the ruling orcish class.

In the end, I lost that fight. The orcs fell, but a few hundred turns later I was betrayed by a High Elf who had, up until that point, been a useful ally. The world of Age of Wonders 3 is a cruel place, but it's also incredibly addicting. Moments after my former ally ended my quest, I started a new one, this time as a Goblin religious zealot with a fondness for arson.

With Pocketwatch Games starting work on its “RTS you could play in a party setting” Armada, it’s time to stop coddling Monaco and set it free into the big wide world to stand on its own two feet. Run, Monaco! Be free! It’s hard to let go, though, so Pocketwatch has packed one final patch for its darling little heist ‘em up: cheese & Marmite sandwiches, a kiwi fruit (forgot a spoon though), a Tunnock’s Tea Cake, and the fourth and final official Monaco campaign.

Renegade Kid talks Cult County's jump to Wii U, Dementium comparison, controls, story and more
reddit.com posted by GoNintendo Apr 04 2014 18:24 GMT in Nintendo Stuff

Coming from a Jools Watsham AMA on Reddit that is live right now!

Why the game switched from 3DS to Wii U

There were a number of factors that contributed to our decision to move Cult County to home console/computers. The first was the scope of the town, story, and character interactions we were developing through the design of the game. It started to feel like it would be expressed better with more graphical power.

Another aspect is the fact that we're releasing Moon Chronicles on the 3DS very soon, and as it is the first of its kind on the 3DS we have no idea how well (or unwell) it may be received on that platform.

And, finally, the idea of developing Cult County on Unity for multiple platforms is a very exciting prospect for us. The Unity engine is really great, and offers wonderful flexibility and power. Being able to develop (essentially) one game and be able to release it on multiple platforms has huge potential for the number of players who can get their hands on our game.

On comparisons to Dementium

Dementium was limited in gameplay in many ways due to the platform it was developed for. That is no slant against the DS or Dementium; I love both of them! But, the reality is that implementing a crouch or jump (like we did with Dementium II) was not an ideal situation with the limited buttons that the player could comfortably access.

Cult County takes the gameplay elements that worked with our handheld FPS games and adds a whole new layer of "modern" first-person controls and game design so that it matches player expectations of console first-person gaming today.

On control options

Yes, Wiimote / Nunchuck controls will be supported for Wii U. All control methods will be explored, and if they feel good we'll include them.

Story details

We have the story of the first season and beyond all detailed out with key plot points and character roles, etc. It is primarily a "lone journey", but you will engage in relationships with other characters along your journey - both friend and foe. And, you'll soon wonder who can be trusted?
