By now, European Wii owners probably feel like they've been waiting for Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth since the actual 16-bit generation. We're happy to report that, according to the Nintendo Channel, the WiiWare reimagining of the Game Boy's Castlevania: The Adventure will be released in Europe next Friday, February 26.

As always, it's a rare treat to know ahead of time when a WiiWare game's coming out -- especially when it's a game someone out there may actually be interested in buying. Everyone, buy the Rebirth games so we can get a Parodius or Mystical Ninja Rebirth!

Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth - level 5 boss glitch

Talk about a big issue. For whatever reason, sometime the level 5 boss just doesn’t drop the level-ending crystal after you defeat him. That means you’re left to wander about the boss room until time runs out…and then you get to fight him all over again.

A portion of a Hanafuda Times review… I say unto you, Castlevania fans, yearning to play the forgotten adventure, the one so terribly rendered in 8-bits, there is a better way! Castlevania has gone back to it’s roots, just the way you liked it. It may not be as long as you would have hoped, but [...]

Whippin' out some Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth footage

Upon close inspection of two new videos of the WiiWare title, Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth, we can confirm the following: It's definitely a Castlevania game. While the game is a remake of the Gameboy title of the same name -- sans the "ReBirth" bit -- the WiiWare version is more reminiscent of the 16-bit games found on the Super Nintendo and Genesis. In fact, we're fairly certain we spotted some reused art from said 16-bit games, which is pretty characteristic for a Castlevania title! Still, the classic monster-slaying, holy-water-tossing gameplay looks to be firmly intact. Check out the footage after the break.
